What Does Sin Look Like And What Sin Gets You Thrown Into Hell?

What Does Sin Look Like And What Sin Gets You Thrown Into Hell?

by Greg Ryan

It has been said, “A picture is worth a 1,000 words” reading this book will give you a picture of sin. With this picture in your mind it will be easier to understand what sin is, where it comes from and how to avoid it.

The title is much “heavier” than the content. This is a simple, easy to read book you won’t want to put down. Greg takes a topic many people want to avoid and makes it understandable.

Simply trying to avoid sin or pretending it doesn’t exist won’t make it go away.
In fact, ignoring this subject actually gives it more power. What if you could get a picture of how sin ensnares you and what you can do to get free?

That’s what you will get and much more.

Having this unique Christian teaching will help you understand important concepts and give you a “behind the scenes” look into the “spiritual realm”.

The Bible was written in common language for everyday people. God was writing to farmers, fishermen, and shepherds. These were common people of the day and few were educated. With these people in mind, God made sure His message was simple and understandable.

There is nothing about sin that is good or redeeming but it has been “elevated” to a position in the church where it does not belong. The price for sin has been paid in full; this book will tell you what that means for you.

Christianity is a broad term and means many things to many different people. But sin, the Bible tells us, affects everyone. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

Because sin is a “problem” for everyone, wouldn’t it be nice to have a “picture” of sin so you can easily recognize it when it comes knocking on your door?

Does sin have a “face”? Can we give evil a name? These are questions that you will be able to answer after reading this book.

Many Christians and non-Christian get sin all wrong and this book attempts to help put sin in its proper perspective. Learn which sin gets you thrown into Hell and how to overcome evil in your life.

This book ends with 3 steps you can do to begin to live a victorious life. You have never heard teaching like this; Greg has a unique way of “picturing” things in the spiritual realm and bringing them into the physical realm to easily understand them.

He makes the complex understandable for everyone. You will enjoy the easy style and tone of this book…even if you don’t agree with everything in it.

Keeping the World Strange: A Planetary Guide

Keeping the World Strange: A Planetary Guide

by Caleb Stokes

A snowflake that describes the multiverse. A team of archaeologists with a mystery benefactor. A century of pulp heroes, atomic ants, kung-fu ghosts, and ships that sail between universes. Villains who hide these wonders from a world they have sold to an unfathomable alien intelligence. And the man, born with the 20th century, who alone can save the world… and his lost friend.

These are the elements of PLANETARY. In telling its story, creators Warren Ellis and John Cassaday uncovered the secret history of the super-hero genre and helped point towards its future, as well as â?? just perhaps â?? our own.

KEEPING THE WORLD STRANGE: A PLANETARY GUIDE excavates all of this, as well as future studies, revisionism, decompression, whether the characters are proactive or reactive, and other topics. This book offers an archaeology of the archaeologists, and its essays allow us to see the snowflake-like structure of the series from new angles. PLANETARY lives and grows in these pages.

The Bond Villain MBA Vol. 1: Casino Royale, Goldfinger, Moonraker, A View To A Kill and More

The Bond Villain MBA Vol. 1: Casino Royale, Goldfinger, Moonraker, A View To A Kill and More

by Kevin Patrick Leech

If you succeed in destroying the world, who will be your customers?

In the James Bond movies, the villains are often successful entrepreneurs who have built their own world-beating corporations with dominant market positions. Yet instead of continuing their firms’ managed growth, they overreach with a plan that is always illegal and often involves global destruction.

The Bond Villain MBA finally takes these entrepreneurs to task, proving that their downfall is really nothing more than the consequence of bad business decisions.

Goldfinger; Blofeld; Hugo Drax of Moonraker; Max Zorin of A View To A Kill; Le Chiffre of Casino Royale: these really are, to borrow a current phrase, the most interesting men alive. Driven and creative, organizational geniuses to a man. Capable of raising money for projects that would appear ludicrous were they written out on a cocktail napkin, much less detailed in a business plan.

Opposing these great men of vision is the government agent James Bond. His tools amount to little more than rampant womanizing and martini-fueled mayhem — basically being the biggest douchebag in the bar. He’s going to steal your girl, blow up the building and will probably receive a medal for his troubles.

The Bond Villain MBA Vol. 1 examines this intersection of entrepreneurial ambition and government overreach, through the lens of prominent Bond films.

– Should Blofeld hire teenage models with severe allergy problems to distribute a lethal virus? (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service)
– Is staging an “Enter The Dragon”-themed martial arts tournament an effective way to combat state-sponsored espionage? (The Man With The Golden Gun)
– Should Le Chiffre try to make money in poker if getting a good hand causes his eyeball to bleed? (Casino Royale)

Finally, someone has applied rigorous business analysis to these titans of industry’s work. Hilarious and insightful, The Bond Villain MBA guarantees you will never look at plans for global destruction the same way again.

100 Nights in the Dark: A Collection of Contemporary Film Reviews and Essays

100 Nights in the Dark: A Collection of Contemporary Film Reviews and Essays

by Joe Barlow

First published in 2000, Joe Barlow’s “100 Nights in the Dark” remains a hilarious and indispensable collection of film reviews and insightful commentary. Examining the movies released between 1997 and 2000, Barlow highlights the best and worst films of this period, and offers amusing–and occasionally controversial–opinions on them. (He liked The Phantom Menace? He hated Saving Private Ryan?) But no matter what you might think of his sanity, the fact remains that Barlow’s “100 Nights in the Dark” is a funny, and occasionally even insightful, look at modern cinema. Includes an introduction by Robert Wederquist of The DVD Journal.

Anthem - The Practical Guide to Being a Good American

Anthem – The Practical Guide to Being a Good American

by Glenn A. Bruce

Are you tired of the yelling, the anger, the confusion in America’s political system today? If you are, you need to read this book today! It’s short and to the point; but more important, it is just as the title says: a Practical Guide to Being a Good American. This book should become the Anthem for the 80% of Americans who are “in the middle.” As the author says, “If you take away the 10% on the extreme left, and the 10% on the extreme right, you are left with 80% of Americans who want a quieter, saner dialogue about our many problems, so that we can actually begin fixing them now.”

This book is easy reading, written in an everyday speaking style that makes it accessible to everyone. No concepts in the book are “over anyone’s head.” These are, as the title implies, practical ways of looking at our nation’s issues. The author doesn’t attempt to offer solutions. He’s not an expert. He is one of us, just another American citizen who is frustrated by the shouting, red faces that lead us farther and farther away from each other, rather than uniting us to solve our many problems.

If you are a rabid right-winger, or extreme lefty, don’t read this book; but if you consider yourself to be a calmer person who is looking for direction, “Anthem” is your doorway! The author encourages you to read it, think and seek out answers for yourself. If you don’t agree with everything, that’s fine! That’s America! We aren’t supposed to agree on every point that comes up. We are supposed to do our best to find common ground and solutions.

We must return to the idea that we can agree to disagree; that we can discuss a problem calmly, find a solution somewhere in the middle, and proceed! We cannot continue to argue without forward movement. We must move ahead now to save our country, our jobs, our American way of life.

Again, you will not agree with everything in this book. That’s the point! We are a nation of 312-million people with just as many opinions. We can’t all ever agree. But we can talk to each other more calmly, listen to each other, search out the factsâ??the actual factsâ??then come together to move our country ahead.

We have been united before, and we can be united again. We are the UNITED States of America, not the Name-Calling Accusing States of Static Immobility. We are America, we are Americans, and we can “encourage” our leaders to change, but we need a rally cry, an Anthemâ??and this is it.

The author Glenn A. Bruce has pledged that out of any profits he receives over just one-thousand dollars, he will donate 10% to charity; out of any profits he receives over ten-thousand dollars, he will donate 20% to charity. See the specific charity name(s) at his website www.glennabruce.com.

stranger and stranger

stranger and stranger

by Robert McMullen

The true story of an unlikely encounter in the extraordinary life of a young man diagnosed with M.E.

“Could I ask how old you are and what you do? And no, in case you’re wondering, I’m not some desperate sad case who befriends whomever he can because he’s got no mates and spends all his time on-line. [Not strictly true – certainly not the bit about being sad and desperate.] It’s just that I was flattered by your compliment of my review.”

It is 1999. Email is still an exciting novelty and the Internet a new and mysterious place when Rob receives a message from an unknown woman. Rob is chronically unwell, while Rose lives on the other side of the country. But who is she? What does she want? And where is their friendship heading?

Through a series of annotated emails, Rob narrates the true story of how their lives come together in a way that is funny, touching and completely unforgettable.

This new e-book edition includes an afterword in which the author writes candidly about his diagnosis for the first time. At least 30% of the purchase price of this e-book will be donated to charities funding biomedical ME research, including ME Research UK.

“This is a great storyâ?¦ I am seriously impressed and don’t have one single negative thing to say.” Lisa Jewell, author of Ralph’s Party.

“This book is compelling testimony of one man’s courage in dealing with a life that has been comprehensively wrecked by severe M.E. The whimsical format and offbeat humour create a vivid picture of the reality of a raw talent constrained by prolonged illness but never defeated. stranger and stranger is well named. It is by turns funny, intriguing, sad and just strange but it is above all a triumphant demonstration of Robert’s inner strength. Do read it and be educated, entertained and enlightened about this horrible illness.” Sir Peter Spencer, CEO Action for M.E.

Pineapple Chunks With Sardines (Living Under Sail)

Pineapple Chunks With Sardines (Living Under Sail)

by Harvey Cail

If you ever thought about getting a boat and sailing away: Here is the first part of the story of a family sailing their boat from San Francisco to the North-East-Coast of England and back. This book, the first of a trilogy, spans eight countries and covers their adventures from San Francisco to Colon, at the Caribbean end of the Panama Canal.
Harvey and Shirley, with their two kids Barbara eleven, and Simon fourteen, visit exotic ports, isolated islands and deserted coves; some surrounded by pristine desert landscapes and others hidden in dense jungle. Sailing on and on, sometimes for days and nights on end, four hours on and four off, they endure brutal heat and experience violent gales. After a year continually underway or at anchor, they lose the urge to hurry for harbor and become true sailors, living their lives on the sea. Operating independently, with no long-range communication or outside support, they are entirely dependent on their boat and themselves.
There are insights into life on a forty-five-foot boat. Home schooling during an ongoing cruise: Eating, sleeping and working the ship: Seamanship and pre-satellite navigation: Ship’s stores and running the galley.

(The book title pertains to breakfast, at dawn, during a force-eleven gale in the Bay of Biscay on the seventeenth of January 1988, when homeward bound for California. The menu was random because only Shirley, who was off watch and asleep, knew the code marked on the unlabeled cans. In the euphoria of recovery from seasickness, I ate it with relish.)

The Deception of Dual Milestones (Greatest Hits)

The Deception of Dual Milestones (Greatest Hits)

by B. David Ferrel

Social interactions mediated through communication and informative media technology: These three stories (two literary parodies and one constructive perception, Reasons this Worldwide Economic Recession will allow us to Better Prosper as a Society Psychologically) display artistry through literary “updates,” if you will, of days far gone. Then this publication closes with an editorial which makes several points stand out in a linear scale.

Volume ten, The Deception of Dual Milestones, cannot truly be perceived as a prequel of what’s to come of the rest of this (now) seventeen-part series, but instead a chapter to introduce a couple retouched fables, if you will, followed by a journal intended to alter pessimistic or frantic perceptions: Reasons this Worldwide Economic Recession will allow us to Better Prosper, Psychologically, as a Society.

From here on out, the reader shall think for him or herself and understand (maybe even believe?) some sort of tie-in within these short stories. There is no ascribed “clue” to look for, what have you, but only an indefinable connection within these excerpts.

Consequently, any judgment shall be left for the call of the reader…

Soul Fire (A Mystical Journey through Poetry)

Soul Fire (A Mystical Journey through Poetry)

by Ansul Noor

Here is an anthology of my poems written over a period of 30 years, written in various countries, and span the chapters of my life, the only constant . It is my journey, and the journey of my ancestors. It is also your journey, a common path of self exploration we all must take. Often dark and surreal, sometimes jubilant and whirling, mostly mystical, drawing symbolic energy from my Eastern roots, these words try to explain â??life’ and its complexities. They are also a form of â??poetic’ spiritual therapy. Poetry is my healer. A lot of my work is infused with imagery, so I can travel those hidden places in my mind. Thoughts often tap into a world we cannot imagine, they are like translators of a long lost ancestral tongue, and we simply become vessels of conveyance. I hope that all who will venture on this metaphysical exploratory journey will be inspired to seek the path to the beginning of the â??self’.The book contains vivid images throughout for a more visual experience.

This is something I started a few months back and completed today. It is about our journey of being in an abusive environment for 9 years which we broke free from over 3 years ago, as a result of the domestic disharmony in the home, I lost my younger 4 children to Child and Family Services and had to disallow my older 2 children to reside with me. I had to fight for the past 3 years to regain custody of my 4 younger children which I did this past Nov/Dec 2011 I want to share my poem and my story so that I can help prevent others from experiencing this and to give hope to those who are faced with the tough decision of leaving an abusive relationship.

The rule of life is to enjoy the moment for it will not return, respect that which you cannot understand and love one another. What are you waiting for? Get up, go out and be free.

Burnt Umber

Burnt Umber

by Glenn Lyvers

In this new collection of poems, Glenn Lyvers once again displays his impressive poetic range. He digs deeply into the icons of an ever-shifting world. He throws this world at us all, in ways that are both surprising and heartfelt. Faith, parenthood, identity and a slew of objects form the backdrop of a world rich in storytelling and abstraction. Glenn Lyvers seasons this world with people and animals. The result is nothing short of beautiful.

Burnt Umber is the single greatest poetic achievement I have had the pleasure to read. – Anthony Shields (MLM)

Lyvers has taken everyday farmhouse table-talk and bedside lure and orchestrated it into a passionate collection of intriguing poetry — a solid example of culture in the American heartland. Steven P. Servis www.stevenservis.com

At his best, Lyvers uses the luminous detail method, like film stills, with images of hunting, fishing, insects, cows, and the fertile sprawl of the natural world. Good poetry resonates beyond itself. – Judy Swann

Glenn Lyvers is the recipient of two pushcart prize nominations, Best Poet (2009) MLM and his work appears in dozens of journals and literary magazines annually. Burnt Umber is the second full collection of poetry by Glenn Lyvers. It follows Lyvers’ Midwest Collection, by Poetry Quarterly. Glenn Lyvers is quickly ascending the ladder of emerging contemporary poets, and Burnt Umber is a “must have” in any collection of serious poetry today.

Full Review:
“Midwest Collection” by Glenn Lyvers. In this masterful assortment of short fiction and poetry, Lyvers exhibits many different writing styles. What results is an eclectic collection filled with humor, touching moments and surprisingly intelligent symbolism – which carries throughout the book. The real surprise of Lyvers’ collection is in the way ideas are carried subtly through a variety of poems featuring very different types of composition. The verisimilitude, meter and natural intonations of tone in Lyvers’ work make it easy to read, and impossible to put down. “Midwest Collection” carries the reader to unexpected places, in which readers discover a little of themselves through the whimsy and tragedy of this exceptional collection of short fiction and poetry. You will surely read this collection again and again. (Review by J. Close – Owner CN Publishing. Salem, Oregon.)

General Polas Kas Dorian was once a great leader of the Army of Light that stood against the dark god Exandercrast and his legions. The Army of Light was crushed, and Kas Dorian lost to the ages. Until now.
Prophecies held that the Iron Blooded General would return to slay Exandercrast and begin a new era of Hope, but when Kas Dorian awakens in the Desert of Olagon with great gaps in his memories, he is driven only by cold vengeance.

144:Wrath is a fast paced fantasy novel that follows a digestible approach to epic fantasy writing. It borrows elements from Norse, Greek, and Native American myth and swirls them together into a completely new world full of warriors, magic, and draconic deities. It follows the quest genre, but focuses on characters and their struggles with fear, faith, hope, loss, and destiny. As Dallas E. Caldwell’s debut novel, it sets the stage for the 2-book series and introduces readers to the world of Traesparin.

Gruesomely Grimm Zombie Tales

Gruesomely Grimm Zombie Tales

Over a century ago, The Brothers Grimm compiled an iconic collection of stories. Over forty years ago, American cinema was infected by the walking dead. A few years ago, classic literature fell to that same infection.

Now, it is time for the logical, but simultaneously unlikely, fusion of the often mistakenly labeled Grimm’s Fairy Tales to fall prey to the gaping maw of undeath.
Volume One of Gruesomely Grimm Zombie Tales offers up the first twenty-five storiesâ?¦with a liberal dose of bloodâ?¦ goreâ?¦and of courseâ?¦zombies.

Dream Walkers

by Kathleen Bjoran

LeAnne (Lee) Strictor is a thirty-eight year old homemaker/ex-journalist who gave up her career to raise their two children, eight-year-old Marc and five-year-old Courtney. On the surface, she appears to be very calm and even-tempered. The surface is very thin. Following a dream she has concerning her husband’s faithful nature, she becomes paranoid and delusional. Her dreams become more explicit and she often dreams of retaliation for her husband’s transgressions.

Jon Strictor is a thirty-eight year old pilot who looks forward to gaining enough time in the right seat to one day fly the wide-bodied airplanes. He enjoys spending time with his family and is dedicated to his wife and marriage. After a series of nightmares, he is in danger of losing his license. He visits with a psychiatrist, Dr. Isaac Fansickle, at the prompting of his flight physician. Dr. Fansickle recommends that Jon make a change in his sleep pattern, which will take Jon away from home every night. When Jon tells Lee that he will be spending five nights a week in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, her anger becomes her life.

Soon, both Lee and Jon realize that she can enter and control his dreams. He has no protection against her intrusions. When he sleeps away from home, his nightmares do not visit him. However, he only gets four hours of sleep at night and must make up the difference upon arriving at home. Lee starts taking naps while Jon is sleeping.

Lee finds props she can use to further terrorize Jon. The final prop being the aircraft he longs to fly.

The doctor has given Jon sleeping pills to help him sleep while he is on vacation. One night, overcome with exhaustion, he takes two of the pills and drinks them down with whiskey. When he falls asleep he discovers himself in the cockpit of a 747, flying solo. He is overwhelmed with fear. He awakens several times but cannot remember if he took pills earlier in the evening. After several episodes of waking up, taking two pills and drinking them down with the whiskey, he finds that the fear will no longer jar him from the nightmare. He can feel Lee’s presence. He also knows that there is someone else in the cockpit.

Welcome to the Real World (A Story From the Dark Side)

Welcome to the Real World (A Story From the Dark Side)

by Lawrence Block

“Welcome to the Real World” is a golf story. Otto Penzler asked me for a story for an anthology with a golf-and-crime theme, and I wrote one called “Hit the Ball, Drag Fred.” But then I put it in my big collection, ENOUGH ROPE, and that came out before Otto’s book, and his had to be previously unpublished. From out of nowhere the idea for this story came along, and both Otto and I were delighted with it. So it hasn’t been collected, and won’t be until I put together a collection of new stories, and that may not happen for a while. So it’s my pleasure to make it available for Kindle.

I don’t play golf, but I have to say I love golf stories. Keller, my wistful hit man, doesn’t play either, but an assignment leads him to a gated community with a golf course, and he hangs out and tells stories with the rest of the members, even if he never does lay hands on a niblick. (You can read all about that, and much else, in the third Keller novel, HIT PARADE.)

I hope you enjoy “Welcome to the Real World”!

THE Eternal Life (Applied Math to Life, Research)

THE Eternal Life (Applied Math to Life, Research)

by Rui Nascimento

Who am I?
Where do I come from?
Where am I heading to?
How?
Why?

On this research I propose myself to apply Mathematics, with all the objectivity and clearness of its tools, to study, analyze and conclude, answering these questions that have always pursued mankind.

Then, I searched for bible scriptures that could match with these math allegations, always focusing on points of convergency, trying tho build bridges between science and religion whenever I found possible.

I did manage to achieve my goals, so I’m declaring this research this huge success.

See it for yourself!
