Leaving it all behind : a vagabonds tale

Leaving it all behind : a vagabonds tale

by J R Ashcroft

This is the story of a man whose name or place of origin is purposely never revealed, to avoid stereotyping. This man could be you or I given the right situation.
This is the moving story of one mans adventures in the private world of a vagabond as he takes to the roads, to become a wandering vagrant. A situation that is currently taking place on an ever increasing scale in our present day times, all across the world.
This is the story of one man, who with his trusty tent embarks on a journey of self discovery to find a new beginning, a journey that starts with a self imposed solitude and one that proves to be full of adventure as he explores his new beginning. A story of factual locations and information intermixed with fictitious events.
This is about that lonely sad figure you may see sitting in a shop doorway, or on a park bench and either ignore or wonder. How did you get in such a state?
But I have turned a negative into a positive as I ask you to join me as we follow his amazing journey in and around the beautiful New Forest in the UK. The people he meets and helps and those that help him in return, proving that there is always hope, love and friendship, even on the open road.

“Stars, hide your fires!
Let not light see my black and deep desires.” – Macbeth

William Shakespeare is widely considered the greatest writer in the history of the English language, so renowned and respected that the time period in which he lived is often known as the Age of Shakespeare. Indeed, his genius is questioned only by those who doubt the authenticity of his authorship of timeless classics like Romeo and Juliet. As Ben Jonson once put it, “He was not of an age, but for all time.” No other writer, in English or in any other language, can rival the appeal that Shakespeare has enjoyed around the world, and nobody’s had a bigger influence.

The “Bard of Avon” has a catalogue full of the best known plays and poetry in history. His surviving works, including some collaborations, consist of about 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and several other poems. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. His early plays were mainly comedies and histories, genres he raised to the peak of sophistication and artistry by the end of the 16th century. He then wrote mainly tragedies until about 1608, and in his last phase, he wrote tragicomedies. Even those who have never read works like Othello, Macbeth, King Lear, or Hamlet are instantly familiar with the names.

Although his works are so well known, major details of his life are still sketchy. Between 1585 and 1592, he began a successful career in London as an actor, writer, and part owner of a playing company called the Lord Chamberlain’s Men, later known as the King’s Men. He appears to have retired to Stratford around 1613, where he died three years later. Few records of Shakespeare’s private life survive, and there has been considerable speculation about such matters as his physical appearance, sexuality, religious beliefs, and even whether the works attributed to him were written by others.

Macbeth is widely considered Shakespeare’s darkest play, and one of his most poignant tragedies. It follows Macbeth’s choices on his rise to power, the psychological impact the choices have on him, and the ultimate consequences of his actions. Like some of Shakespeare’s other tragedies, particularly Hamlet, Macbeth is both a character study and a cautionary tale.

Everything You Need to Know About Macbeth is the perfect resource for understanding Shakespeare’s shortest and bloodiest tragedy, including an introduction to the famous playwright and a comprehensive explanation of the play’s characters, plot, themes, and its influential and enduring legacy. With Macbeth as relevant as ever today, get caught up quickly with this resourceful guide.

The Gestalt Man

by Anthony E. Cardenas

Michael Jeck suffers from severe dissociative identity disorder as a result of a series of traumatic incidents in his childhood. He has five separate and individual personalities–Kara, a brainy, intellectual woman trained as a medical examiner; Nick, an aggressive hit first ask questions later guy; Alex, the suave, sophisticated, educated man; Telly, a brainy teenager who is an expert with computers and technology; and Sara, a mute eight year old girl who creates mature, beautiful works of art to express herself.

He then uses their specific skills and talents to form a kind of think tank, capable of effectively solving complex and difficult crimes. Enter Grayson O’Neal, an FBI agent from the behavioral sciences division, whose mysterious past and strange eagerness to work with Agent Jeck causes a newfound tension amongst the normal “group” dynamic.

The Dacian Woman (Blood Moon)

by Fay McDermott

In what would one day be known as Romania, it is the time of feudal landlords known as boyars. Those ruled by the boyars, both peasants and enslaved Romani, live their lives in the shadow of the ruling class with the knowledge that they share the land with the Old Ones. Rarely if ever seen, these ancient races are known from folklore; feared and hated for their terrible reputations.

It doesn’t take him long to discover that the Ursari are holding more than just bears in their collection. Will he choose love and redemption, or will he give it all up for the revelations of his new existence?

The Dacian Woman is not what she appears to be when the darkly handsome stranger comes to her. Caged and maltreated, the woman’s secret is close to the surface, like the golden fur she will be unable to stop from flowing once Fane’s unlife is at stake.

Inner Space Book One

Inner Space Book One

by Merlin Fraser

â??Before man can travel into outer space he must first
explore and conquer the inner space of his mind.’
Professor Harman Jones – 1995.

How well do you know your best friend?

How would you react if he was suddenly arrested for murder?

At 45 years of age with a broken childless marriage behind him, Detective Inspector Nick Burton is just coasting through life. That is until the day his boss, Chief Superintendent Dan Davies is arrested and charged with murder. In denial, Nick’s attempts to get at the truth are further hampered when Dan dies while in custody. Question is, did he commit suicide to avoid prosecution or was he murdered to prevent a scandal?

The deeper Nick delves into Dan’s life, the more he realises how little he really knew about the man. Someone sends Nick a ten year old video of a college professor giving a lecture, the content of which, although interesting, seems to have no bearing on this or any other case, whatsoever. However, when the same professor turns up at Dan’s funeral, Nick has to think again. The professor, now in a wheelchair, is accompanied by two assistants who act more like minders, one of them a beautiful woman whose startling green eyes draw Nick deep into her web.

Somewhere in the background, someone is leaving a trail of breadcrumbs for Nick to follow and he starts to resent the feeling of manipulation. Why don’t they just come forward and tell him what they know? If it was bad news about Dan, would he believe them? He has to find out the truth for himself.

As he puts the pieces together Nick is drawn into the mysterious world of parapsychology and psychic phenomena to a conclusion that belies everything he thought he understood. But beneath the academic calm of Cambridge University there lurks a dangerous undertow that everyone seems to have missed.

The following is comment is a typical reaction among the first readers of “CTN – The Genesis”

***** 5 Stars! My wife has been trying to get me to read more but I’m usually not interested. Once I got 1/4 of the way through this book however, I couldn’t put it down. The first night I read 60% of it and stayed up until 1:30! Once the plot starts to thicken and the suspense begins to build, it becomes an incredible page turner! Thanks for getting me started reading again!

Michael Dakota has a refreshing writing style that is normally not found in this type of action / adventure series. He blends thrilling action scenes with humor and realism to create a page turning adventure that’s hard to put down. It’s a fun, fast read that’s a perfect weekend escape!

A Message from the Author:

If you are looking for a unique action / adventure story that is not a cookie cutter copy of something you’ve read before then you will love this book. I guarantee when you reach the end it will leave you craving more, because that’s what everyone I’ve talked to personally has told me. I’ve been inspired by the fact that people who normally don’t read fiction are loving it and it’s appealing to both men and women. You can never write something with the intent of appealing to everyone, but I’m very excited by the broad interest this book is generating!

Michael Dakota

It all begins on July 4, 2026, our nation’s 250th anniversary. On the way back from the fireworks show Denver Mayor, Mark West stops at a gas station to buy a pack of cigarettes. While gone his new Corvette is hijacked with his wife still inside. As he races out of the store he is shot in the shoulder and wakes up in the hospital. Upon realizing what has happened he now has to try recreate the events so he can find the love of his life.

Before he is even out of the Intensive Care Unit his father-in-law (a retired Marine Colonel) shows up and is already organizing a search and rescue mission to find his daughter. In Afghanistan he had put together an elite special forces unit, so those members are his first choice. As they follow the trail left behind, they begin to see that there is much more to this than a simple car jacking gone wrong. The relatively simple search and rescue mission is just the beginning of a war on our own turf.

An excerpt of The Colonel explaining the messy situation

Once back at the Hangar I was greeted by the Colonel. He had worked himself into such a frenzy that he made Mom look calm by comparison. “I don’t know what we’ve opened up here Mark, but this thing is far from over,” he ranted. “I have no idea what it is Colonel; I’m too exhausted to think straight,” I replied, having just dealt with my Mother. “This is a Goddamn nightmare is what it is,” he continued “they are totally wired; bulletproof cars like we’ve never seen and they are simultaneously in LA and Denver. Worse yet, none of them are in the system! Whoever is in the cars have all been wiped from the database and those dipshits that came out of the vans are like drones or clones or some damn thing. In 55 years of combat, I’ve never seen anything like it!” he stewed, pacing the hangar floor. “I was hoping they would just take the money and leave us alone,” I said in a defeated tone. “Oh ya, I’d sit around and hope shit like that Mark! I hope they don’t blow up my damn house, I hope they don’t shoot my wife and me dead! You have no idea what you are in here Mark. This is not over! It’s just the beginning!” he blasted. I could just feel my mood deflating more and more as the Colonel spoke.

Would our lives ever return to normal?
