Explosive, trailblazing fiction, The Convenient Christian wades into the muddy waters of the political arena and explores some of the most controversial and gut-wrenching issues of our time. An epic battle between the far right and extreme left; where the gloves come off in a fist fight of ideological differences. The end result is a classic tale that drops you squarely into the shoes of each fighter, into the heated middle of the fray, and delivers a unique perspective from opposite ends of the political spectrum.
This is the story of mirror twin brothers, identical, yet opposite, a rare subset in twins. One brother is right-handed and the other is left-handed. One boy is outgoing while the other is painfully shy. Charlie Drummond is a gifted, natural athlete; while Eddie Drummond is merely average. Charlie graduates at the top of his class and is given an athletic scholarship to an Ivy League college. The two brothers have a bitter fight, just days before Charlie leaves for school. Eddie Drummond remains in Hibbing to work in the iron ore mines and to care for his mother. He doesn’t see his brother again for nearly twenty years.
Charlie returns to Hibbing when their mother passes away, but he isn’t Charlie any longer. He now goes by Charles and he’s made quite a name for himself as both an author and the host of a nationally syndicated, radio program. Five days a week, Charles touts the virtues of the conservative political movement. He’s married to Lilly Drummond, a supermodel, and together they have two children.
Eddie is worried about seeing his brother after so many years. He is married to July, a waitress, and they also have two children. The funeral seems to put an end to the bad blood between the two brothers. Soon, the two families are forming bonds and Charles confides that he and his family would like to spend the summer in Hibbing. They’ve grown tired of the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple and with Eddie’s blessings, he’d like to rent an office in town and broadcast his show from there. Despite his reservations, Eddie gives Charles his approval.
The fireworks begin as Charles starts taking shots at Eddie. What begins as carefully placed, backhanded comments, turns into an all-out assault on Eddie’s faith, his character, his political beliefs, his meager possessions, and even his wife and children. Too late, Eddie realizes that Charles is not the man he portrays himself to be; he’s a wicked, faithless man who believes the end justifies the means: a convenient Christian, a dangerous hypocrite of the highest order.

When a routine cleaning job uncovers a murder weapon the police overlooked, she realizes that the wrong person is in jail. But the owner of the weapon is a powerful foe . . . and willing to do anything to keep Gabby quiet.
With the help of her new neighbor, Riley Thomas, a man whose life and faith fascinate her, Gabby plays the detective to make sure the right person is put behind bars. Can Riley help her before another murder occurs?
“Christy Barritt’s novel, Hazardous Duty, is a delightful read from beginning to end. The story’s fresh, engaging heroine with an unusual occupation hooked me, and I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend Hazardous Duty.”
â??Colleen Coble Author of Fire Dancer, book one of the Smoke Jumpers Series
Captivating, entertaining, and downright funny, this book will keep you reading until the satisfying ending. Unique characters capture your heart and have you rooting for them from the beginning. Gabby St. Claire is truly a breath of fresh air. (Susan Sleeman The Christian Suspense Zone)
Christy Barritt created one lovable and unique character. Readers will fall in love with Gabby from page one with her laugh out loud scenes and sarcastic humor. This mystery was fun to read as well as to solve. Up until the very end, I wasn’t too sure who the real suspect was in the book. I’m not sure if Gabby St. Claire will morph into a book series, but I’m sure readers will want to meet her again at future crime cleaning scenes. (Tyora Moody Faithwebbin)
If you like murder mysteries and suspense with a chick-lit feel, you’ll want to read this one! (Michelle Sutton michellesutton.net)
“The next time you’re temped to watch CSI reruns, read this book instead! Spunky, sassy Gabby St. Claire sparkles in this new series. She’ll keep you turning the pages.” (Siri Mitchell Sporting the Faith Newsletter)
“In this witty novel, chick lit meets mystery in the show-tune singing Gabby, creating a fun whodunit where you just don’t know who killed the woman or which guy you like for the heroine. There’s the changeable Detective Parker or the sweet guy-next-door-with-a-secret Riley for Gabby, and who but the would-be Senator husband would want the murder victim dead? Hazardous Duty will take you on a ride through twists, turns, quirks, acorn brownies, and spiritual questions that keep Gabby guessing. She’s a character you’re guaranteed to love, and the plot is entertaining and fast paced.” (Roseanna White Christian Review of Books)

I could use a dozen more mysteries with detective Maggie Sullivan on my reading table. She’s tough, gritty – and totally engaging.
Sandra Love, author of DIVE FOR THE SUN
Rich in the author’s knowledge of her chosen town and time (1930s), not to mention rich in clever plot twists. A great read.
Suzanne Clauser, screenwriter & author of A GIRL NAMED SOONER
Private eye Maggie Sullivan knows the streets of Depression-era Dayton, Ohio, as well as she knows an emery board. With a gin bottle in her desk, a .38 under her seat, and a great pair of legs she can hold her own against the toughest opponent.
Then a routine case makes her a murder suspect and the target of a crime boss who’s got friends at City Hall.
Moving through a landscape where people line up at soup kitchens, Maggie draws information from sources others overlook: The waitress at the dime store lunch counter where she has breakfast; a corner newsboy; a nightclub cigarette girl in the rooming house where she lives. She shifts to a war of wits when she wants something from her shutterbug pal on the evening paper or the new cop teamed with her late father’s partner.
Before Maggie finds all the answers she needs, she’s drugged and left in a ditch, has tea in the kitchen of a local cathouse and gambles her own life to save two others.

This is the story of Willow ‘Twig’ Olsen, a woman of scandinavian descent, who was trapped into an existance of traditional servitude for the first thirty eight years of her life, and what transpires after her last parent dies, and she is finally free to seek male companionship, as she has long desired. What happens thereafter is a whirlwind of unexpected events that lead to greed, deception, and eventually murder.
This book goes far above and significantly deeper than any simple romance…or many suspense thrillers. Readers will be compelled to discover each detail; to keep turning the pages.
This is a suspenseful thriller of beauty, tenderness, havoc, and calm, tossed together in chapters that electrify and stun.
This is one, approx. 300 page Novel, that ought to to be made into a movie. I see Charlize Theron as Willow Olsen and Brad Pitt as Lonnie Doolittle. One could even visualize George Clooney as J. Zachery Tyrone……….

As “The New Yorker” said, Thursday at Noon is “a thriller in the purest cliffhanger vein. The technique is flawless. It could only have been learned in a thousand Saturday afternoon movie matinees.”
Cairo, 1962. Richard Thomson was already having a very bad day when someone left a corpse lying on the rear steps of his hotel. Its head had been lopped off like a ripe melon and had been posed so it could look back down at its own body. Thomson is a burned-out CIA Agent and the body belongs to Mahmoud Yussuf, a fat, petty thief who tried to sell him photographs of a long-abandoned RAF base in the Egyptian desert. What the photos have to do with a dead Israeli Mossad agent, Nazi rocket scientists, the fanatical Moslem Brotherhood, and two missing Egyptian tank regiments could start the next Arab-Israeli War or stop it.
Alone and on the run, no one believes Thomson’s answers — not the CIA, the US Ambassador, Colonel Ali Rashid of Egyptian State Security, and most assuredly not Captain Hassan Saleh, Chief of the Homicide Bureau of the Cairo Police, who wants to hang Thomson, preferably around the CIA’s neck . Under pressure from within and without, the slums of Cairo are a tinder box of discontent and the first faint whiffs of a military coup against the shaky, new government of Abdel Gamal Nasser are in the air. Thompson and the young daughter of one of the German rocket scientists have five action-packed days and nights to figure it out. Tick Toc, Tick Tock! Something is about to blow up in Thomson’s face at Noon on Thursday.

That sort of evil just does not exist in our little worlds, does it? But what if evil turned out to be a lot closer than you thought? What if it was your neighbor, your mailman, your child’s bus driver or school teacher? What if real, true evil turned out to be the love of your life?
That is what is happening to Laura Cooper. She is a single mother who has recently lost her husband to a vicious mugging. She and her fifteen year old daughter Amy have moved on remarkably well since then. Laura finds herself entranced and beginning a whirlwind romance with the enticing stranger.
Meanwhile, a series of brutal murders is terrifying the suburban town of Parkersburg. Laura’s older brother Frank happens to be the lead detective on the case who has somehow found himself the target of a madman’s killer obsession. As the body count rises and the games become more twisted, the race to find the killer twists and turns to a terrifying conclusion that will rock the very foundation of this peaceful community and leave Laura questioning everything that she believes in as she realizes that sometimes the Devil is just as close as a lover’s kissâ?¦

His clients are all renegades from the asylum (aka Orleans Parish), including a transvestite entertainer, a buxom deadbeat blonde, a doctor who refers his own patients to a malpractice lawyer, and a Mardi Gras reveler who drives a float shaped like a giant crawfish pot. He also has his hands full with an ex-wife and three teenage daughters, who are experts in the art of wrapping Tubby around their little fingers. And somehow, between work and family, Tubby finds time to sample the highs and lows of idiosyncratic Crescent City cuisine, from trout meuniere amandine and French roast coffee with chicory to shrimp po-boys and homemade pecan pralines.
Tubby’s new client is Darryl Alvarez, the manager of a local nightclub who’s been caught unloading marijuana from a shrimp boat. At their first meeting, Darryl entrusts Tubby with an ordinary-looking blue gym bag. But after Darryl’s unfortunate demise, Tubby realizes he must tighten his grasp on the gym bag — and its million-dollar contents.
TUBBY JUST CAN’T GIVE UP THE CASH. BUT IF HE GETS CAUGHT, HE’LL BE IN JAIL. AND IF THE WRONG PEOPLE CATCH HIM, HE’LL WISH HE WAS.
“Tubby grapples with the temptation of riches and the threats of claimants, and, as he sorts out the rogues among the buttoned-downs, he dispatches the villain and finds a home for the cash in a conclusion that’s as cleverly convoluted and amusing as the rest of this tale, the first in a…series.” -Publishers Weekly
New Orleans-based attorney and writer Tony Dunbar is the Lillian Smith Book Award-winning author of books about Mississippi, Appalachia, migrant workers, and the Southern labor movement as well as the acclaimed Tubby Dubonnet mystery series.

In the great Free City of Yewnyr, the Blackheath Refuge is home to the victims of the most powerful magic in the Elder Kingdoms â?? those wounded in body and mind by dark mana, ancient curses, and the hunger of the undead.
When an invisible killer is unleashed within the refuge, the brash investigator Elathien Solo must contend with indifferent authorities, a spurned lover, and a young patient’s terrible secret as she searches for the truth.
And even as a dark conspiracy of murder and madness unfolds around her, Elathien is forced to cope with the still-raw scars of the time she herself spent as a patient within Blackheath’s wallsâ?¦
FOR MATURE READERS
Elathien was forced to take a step back as Nerani turned on her suddenly. A dark strength had worked its way through the girl, giving her the tone and disposition of a different person. The thought set Elathien on edge as she called up the cantrip of detection, the incantation barely a whisper.
“She knew all their names,” Nerani hissed, pushing closer. “She knew what they did, what they needed, how they lied. She wouldn’t have told, but their fear blinded them. Made them not believe her. So I felt how long it took her to fall. How her legs broke, her spine shattered when she struck the ground. I felt her bleed to death in the darkâ?¦”
There was no magic in her. No sign of the possession or enchantment that Elathien would have sworn she was seeing, no sign of Nerani’s thoughts or actions controlled by some outside force. With a sharp cry of pain, the girl pushed past her, stumbling toward the laboratory door.
Which was open now, Elathien saw.
The white light from the corridor beyond pushed up against the pale glow of Elathien’s spell-light, shimmering along a boundary like oil and water settling slowly against each other.
The door had been closed when Nerani stepped away from it. A thousand things could have explained it opening, from the most minor incantation to a loose latch and a breath of air from the corridor beyond. Elathien felt a chill twist through her all the same, rising from the base of her spine as Nerani turned to her.
“They killed Irandis,” the girl said. “You wanted to know.”
“What?” Elathien’s voice caught as she spoke. “I wanted to know what?”
“You wanted to know why I came here. To Blackheath.”
Nerani’s steps were steady as she made her way down the corridor, bare feet silent on the stone floorâ?¦

As each adventure unfolds simultaneously and at breakneck speed the reader is taken along on a dizzying thrill ride of wonders and horrors, while elsewhere the architects of the future are making plans for an important arrival.
The Breath of Life is a fun, fast paced thriller steeped heavily in the tradition of the legendary pulp novels of the early twentieth century.
Dear Reader. I have listened to you and have acted on your wishes. I originally published The Immortal Breath of Life as a ten thousand word story. Surprisingly it became somewhat of a sensation (especially in the U.K.) I wish to thank all my U.K. readers for that. A lot of the feedback I received was dissatisfaction over the length of the story rather than the content of story. You wanted it to be longer, so here it is extended to a 35,000 word novella. I hope you enjoy it and further hope you will let me know if the story length and plot changes are to your liking.
As an extra bonus, I have added the first five chapters of my upcoming novel, Soul Thief. Enjoy!
Thank you again.

With heavy doses of tongue-in-cheek humor, WAN YU AND TONYA SAVE THE WORLD … TWICE! is a multicultural comic spy thriller that might just be in tomorrow’s headlines.

While attempting to join a U.S. Army platoon in search of deposed president Saddam Hussein, acerbic foreign correspondent Andrea Madigan and her TV cameraman are accosted by a tribe of lawless Bedouins. During their captivity, the nomads contend that a group of American soldiers unearthed a precious treasure from the sands of the Syrian Desert, killed several of their members, and stole their discovered riches from its rightful owners.
On her return to the States, Andrea tries to follow the faint trail of the thieves and their loot, but is stonewalled by the State Department, Pentagon, administration and military. With all avenues of inquiry seemingly exhausted, she is ordered to drop her artifact quest by her boss and corporate adversary, V.P. Rand Duncan. Frustrated by Duncan’s decision, Andrea commits the cardinal sin of broadcasting and is fired from the network. When she is joined in her investigation by friend and associate, gay bodybuilder Sammy Simkowski, the freelance reporters are harassed by international art thieves, threatened by Mafia hit men, attacked by Arab terrorists, and encumbered by General Clyde G. Callaghan, commander of the army battalion in which the thieves purportedly served.
As Andrea pursues her investigation, she is diagnosed with a terminal illness. She encounters Hannah Ogie, a mysterious ‘Preacher Lady,’ who urges the rejection of traditional religions for direct communication with God, and is an eyewitness to the assassination of the unorthodox evangelist.
After a harrowing chase and deadly gun battle between competing adversaries intent on seizing the treasure, Andrea and Sammy finally locate the artifact, experiences a miraculous recovery from her disease, and learns that the ancient amphora contains not the priceless items originally assumed, but a single object that threatens to alter the interpretation of the most important period in the history of mankind–and possibly its future.

A story of a Delta Force trained soldier gets out of the Army, moves back to his home state of Wyoming. He is educated with a Masters Degree in Architectural Engineering where he designs buildings, bridges, houses, golf courses and much more. Although being an architectural engineer provides a sense of accomplishment it doesn’t provide the adrenaline rush he got so used to doing black ops with his Delta Force team. Being an expert in demolitions, marksmanship, and killing among other things he finds a new way to regain the adrenaline rush he once acquired doing his daily job. With fifteen years of service in the military he doesn’t want to throw away his chance to get a military pension, so he joins with a local Army Reserve Unit in Wyoming.
Even though he was still part of a military group the maneuvers once a month and two weeks every year didn’t provide what he so longed for. Being a husband and a father of two he had to be discreet in what he chose to reinvigorate him with adrenaline. Did he turn to visiting hookers at truck stop motels? No. Did he turn to having an affair with the pretty, young, newly married, stay at home wife down the street? No. Did he turn to using illicit drugs like cocaine, heroine or ecstasy? No. What he turns to get that adrenaline high he so craves is so much more dangerous. Murder.
Sitting on lonely, quiet dimly lit back roads waiting on his unsuspecting prey to come along his veins coursed with the throbbing of the adrenaline. Raising the hood of an old car he keeps in a storage locker and waits for the unsuspecting female to stop to render assistance. His training as a special ops soldier taught him how to be careful not to leave traces of evidence, be stealthy, and efficient. Although the training he was provided with wasn’t intended to be utilized in psychopathic ways. All it takes is the smallest of mistakes to leave behind a trace of DNA with a hair, a drop of blood, or any number of incidental scrapes of skin under a victims finger nails. Will this highly trained, finely tuned, smooth running machine of a soldier make a mistake that will lead to his downfall? Well, I guess we’ll have to follow the story through his travels as an architect, a father, his deployments with the military and all his other travels to find out who will put the pieces together first.
Please don’t quickly dismiss my query because of the Southern verbage I used. I’m from the South and I used that verbage to make the book appear more realistic.

Ted Lomax does his best to get by as a private detective in a society where almost nothing is private any more. He lives in a near-future California that has gained independence from the economically collapsed United States and where everyone is constantly linked into the web. Almost everyone. Because of injuries sustained during California’s border war, Ted is locked out of the technological culture that surrounds him. But that’s his edge: his business card reads “Strictly Analog,” and he markets himself as a man able to skirt the technological landscape without leaving a trail. It works nicely for him until he gets the most important case of his life. When his daughter Amy is accused of killing her boyfriend, Ted knows he has to do whatever he can to help her. It won’t be easy. The bullet in the boyfriend’s head matches Amy’s gun. To make matters worse, the dead boyfriend was an agent with California’s secret police. Now Ted has to dig himself out of the hole he’s been buried in since the war. Before long, he’s pulled into a shadow world of underground hackers, high-end programmers, and renegade gear-heads, all of whom seem to have a stake in California’s future. The further he digs into the case, the clearer it becomes that it’s about more than one dead agent. Solving it might save his daughter. And it might get him killed. And it just might open the door to secrets that reach back to the attack that almost killed him eighteen years before. At any rate, Ted Lomax will never be the same.

It’s snowy December in New York and closing in on Christmas.
Teresa is a seventeen year old girl in Quogue, Long Island, who was just in a car accident, now in a coma. Some time has already slipped by and there’s a girl in the city who needs a heart, but Teresa’s guardian, her grandmother Eileen, isn’t letting her go, and has the means to keep her on support for as long as she wants.
While Eileen is away for the weekend, Teresa passes away, and the doctor administering to her, authorizes the harvesting of her organs, her heart specifically, to give to the girl in the city. Upon returning, Eileen is irate! She thinks it’s a conspiracy, especially since the doctor works at the same hospital in New York City as the girl who needed the transplant.
She hires William Parkland and Catherine Huntington, the attorneys from The Montauk Murder Mystery and The Manhattan Murder Mystery.
Five people had access to Eileen’s mansion. A soft-spoken Indian doctor who knows how scarce and valuable organs are, and who gives William and Catherine their first lead in the case. A Jamaican nurse who believes in reincarnation and who has a wish to come back as something out of the ordinary, and who Eileen was on the verge of firing. Teresa’s best friend Claire who has a secret about her and Teresa, and insight into Teresa’s thought process. One of Eileen’s spiteful friends who believes in the Almighty dollar, and who had a falling out with her over a business deal. And an old theologian who has read and reread Plato and shares insight into some of the most widely talked about issues concerning religion, and who’s at odds with Eileen over a subjective matter.
William and Catherine have to go speak to all five them, hearing their views on life and dying, and if they had any insight into Teresa’s wishes, and would they’ve crossed that line?, knowing the consequences, from the standpoints of going to prison, losing their job, losing their family possibly, not honoring their friend’s wishes, and for those with a religious backbone, maybe damnation, or sacrificeâ??being testedâ??like Abraham, and would they have the reasoning to persuade William and Catherine to see it their way.
On the onset, William and Catherine are at odds; William believes that even if they find out who did it, if somebody did do it, to’ve just kept the girl on support, whether they knew her wishes or not, while this other girl needed the heart, wasn’t the way to go. But Catherine believes nobody had that right to make that decision, except Eileen. But being two open-minded people, they know things can change during the course of events as new information surfaces. Which does! Startling information!â??as to why Eileen might’ve kept Teresa on life-support to begin with! And it had nothing to do with hoping a miracle was going to take place and she’d come to!
William and Catherine weave through the reasoning and the beliefs and the motives of the suspects, and weigh all the evidence, and have a better understanding of how the minds of the one percent and their family and friends work. However, there’s only one hard clue that points in the right direction, and both of the high-priced Manhattan attorneys overlooked it! Only an individual with exceptional awareness and who had a bent for solving complex problems would’ve recognized it and made something of it, though.
Mainstream Mystery with religious, psychological, social and philosophical overtones, relating to abortion, the death penalty, euthanasia, criminal justice, indestructibility, and the death tax, among others.

Follow the story of how one man changed the world in the 21st century. According to French journalist LePen he was nothing more than a pragmatist but to Senator Hutchins, LeBourge was more than a man worthy of admiration. Both agree that he is the father of the new world order. Not known to many, LeBourge’s success was due to a woman’s love and wherewithal to rid the world of those who only propagate self preservation.

John Brooks is a brilliant young lawyer working hard, but not getting much notice. Those who know him admire his work ethic and his intellect. His friends believe that he needs one big case to show off his talents. Defending Hal Boyd, known as the Butcher of Belhaven, on arson and four murder charges, looks like that big case as the world media, hungry to fill 24 hours a day of non-stop news coverage, converges on Jackson, Mississippi.
Soon the Boyd case looks like a career ender when Brooks announces his defense: “Not guilty by reason of insanity. My client was so insane that he believed that the person he intended to kill was a vampire.” The world media ridicules the “Vampire Defense,” and Brooks and his defense team become the laughing stock of the legal profession.
Ridicule becomes the least of Brooks’ problems when he discovers that a satanic cult is intent on exacting murderous revenge against Boyd and his defense team. Kidnapping and multiple murders occur at a dizzy pace as the action careens from the city to the swamp to the courtroom.
Romance coupled with comic relief allows you to occasionally catch your breath, until even that is stolen by a double climax with a verdict that shocks the world, followed immediately by a dramatic final battle between good and evil.
The Vampire Defense is so “bloody good” you can taste it.
