The Magpie Bridge (I Am Just Junco #4.5)

by J. A. Huss

Sometimes what you want

Doesn’t matter,

Sometimes you just

Gotta finish what you started.

Sometimes this really

F*cking sucks.

But other times

You need to take a breath

And sit on the beach.

A long, deep, breath

To remind you of why

You signed on for this sh*t

In the first place.

This is my breath.

Myth of the Moon Goddess – The Aradia Chronicles, Books One, Two and Three

by April Rane

“Reminiscent of Marion Zimmer Bradley in Mist of Avalon, Rane takes myth, legend and historical settings, weaves in elements of magic and the world of the unseen, and creates a rich tapestry of entertainment.” iUniverse

Rane stirs your heart and engages your mind with her powerful epic of the Moon Goddess Aradia, who more than two-thousand years ago gave up her immortal life in the heavens and journeyed to earth, to teach spells, herbs and magic to better the plight of women.

~ At fifteen, Aradia is brutally abducted after witnessing the vicious slaughter of her village; hardening her heart to the loss she becomes a fierce protector of the young girls she finds in her care.
Excerpt: Slowly she walked out back to the donkey-pen in search of the large butchering knife. Hesitantly, she reached for it. For a long moment she thought of using the crude, cold knife on herself, knowing in the end she would be raped, killed or enslaved by the violent and depraved warriors from the north. Aradia gingerly pointed the bloodstained rusty knife toward her heart, but then she thought of her beloved sister, I must find her…

~Unfortunately Aradia discovers the price of her heroic quest is high…it seems to come at the cost of love. ~

This first book of the Aradia Chronicles is a trilogy; three different lives of the Moon Goddess. Follow her intriguing story in Myth of the Moon Goddess

Merchant (Terrene Chronicles)

by R.T. Kaelin

The Terrene Chronicles are a series of short stories that explore the history of the world created by R.T. Kaelin in his critically acclaimed novel, Progeny, the first volume in The Children of the White Lion series. Key moments in the past are explored in depth in each short story, giving fans of Progeny a peek into what shaped the people, countries, and history of Terrene.

Merchant contains the first three stories of The Terrene Chronicles and follow Nundle Babblebrook, a hapless merchant who has inherited his great-uncle’s company only to prove he is a terrible businessman. A chance encounter with a trader from the Commonwealth of Cartu and the result of their negotiations will change Nundle’s life forever. Follow one of the fans’ favorite characters from Progeny on his journey from a simple merchant to something much more.

Reviews for R.T. Kaelin’s other works:
“Anyone who enjoys adventure stories or magical and paranormal I would suggest you give [Progeny] a try. For me, Progeny is in league with both The Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings and far better than Harry Potter – Progeny has a wealth of depth to it that I haven’t seen in many books.

From the first chapter I was completely hooked. Progeny has many layers of stories within its pages, and I found it totally awe inspiring as a read, with each character that is developed really coming to life and adding weight to the story telling.”
– Clover Hill Book Reviews

“Progeny is the debut novel of R.T. Kaelin and I have to say I was really impressed. Overall, I would favorably compare his writing with Brandon Sanderson, Scott Lynch, (early) Robert Jordan and even a bit of David Eddings flavor mixed in. I really enjoyed this book and my biggest disappointment is going to be waiting for the next installment.”

“Cleverly conceived and expertly crafted, Kaelin demonstrates great talent as a writer with this work. The grand scale world-building, rarely seen in a debut novel, is on par with current greats of the genre such as Brandon Sanderson (Warbreaker) and Jim Butcher (Furies of Calderon). Though it nears seven hundred pages long, the epilogue comes far too soon; but the story holds great promise for future adventures in the series.”
– Her Book Self Book Reviews

by Mike Duran

“Mike Duran has the darkly rich imagination of a true storyteller.” – Scott Nicholson, finalist for the Bram Stoker Award and author of The Red Church

A subway project on the wrong side of Mother Nature. A neurotic man who drowns in the desert. Tequila swilling seminary students in search of a mythical healer. A war-torn interplanetary lounge for seekers of universal harmony. A military chaplain pursued by the very demon he evicted. A trip home, for the living and the dead. Muses and devils in the Inspirational octagon. A one-thousand pound man who carries something weightier than himself. A machine that can predict marital compatibility down to the most probable future.

Surrealism, horror, and occasional humor intersect in these nine short stories from the author of The Resurrection and The Telling.

Blood, Brains and Bullets is Book One of the new Blood, Brains and Bullets series by Sean Liebling. It starts on Day One of the Outbreak and continues through the first seven full days after its apocalyptic climax.

Jay has started his daily routine as a single father of three, when the news hits of massive deathsâ?? then reanimationsâ??from the vaccine distributed by the government to combat the super-flu virus that has been sweeping the globe. For Jay, it’s irritating because it interrupts his normal comedic attempts at nailing every sweet piece of ass in the area. Being a survivalist means he has a lot of ‘stuff’, as you can never have too much, and before he can even take shelter in his homemade retreat to ride out the apocalypse, friends start showing up who need his help. Before he knows it, he’s forced into the unenviable position of assuming leadership over his community, or what’s left of it, and fighting on multiple fronts against the forces of the evil undead, neighboring marauders, and assassins of a Shadow Government with a secret, 200-year-old New World Order Eugenics plan. Of course, that plan of theirs doesn’t include him and his, so this Marine does what all Marines do best: He kicks ass without bothering to take names, and along the way he happens to fall into the clutches of a girl or three. Women can be very demanding. Even during a Zombie Apocalypse!

Jay is a dedicated self-styled player who gets lucky more often than not, and has a soft spot for children. As one of â??those survivalists’ they always talk about on the news, he’s better prepared than most when the shit hits the fan. During the coming days and weeks, he will be forced through circumstances to grow up (reluctantly) and does his utmost to save his community from the forces of the secret Shadow Government, while melding close friends, survivors, and salvaged military units on the run into a force to be reckoned with! But it isn’t over yet, because Jay is a Marine, and he has a few tricks up his sleeve which he fully intends to implement while accumulating as many girlfriends as possible.

This series will have you laughing hysterically at Jay’s womanizing antics, then crying like a baby during scenes of heartrending tragedy and sacrifice. It will also make you cheer when and if the forces of good triumph over those of evil. Written with the help of a medical doctor and a doctor of psychology, along with survivalist friends of all stripes, the scenes you read inside are what would really happen in an endgame situation with a comedic spin to it.

This book is a testament to what good men can do when doing nothing simply isn’t an option! The trick is to act quickly and decisively. Being a Marine also helps, of course!

In this distant future, people who follow the True King and read the Book, are a tiny minority, driven from the cities, and forced to eke out an existence in the wilderness. Will Ginna find what she so desperately needs to know–in this treacherous world?

Humans Need Not Apply

by Tony Ruggiero

Do you think it’s easy being an alien, a satanic creature or anything else not considered part of the Homo sapiens only club? They have tough days just like humans do and their frustration is growing. Don’t believe it? Well, what about Lucifer, the prince of darkness, who runs a car dealership–what about his feelings when he is faced with that impossible sale and he can’t get that signature on form 666, the standard soul contract? Or maybe you wondered about how an extremely vain alien copes with having a bad hair day as he tries to alter the future of Earth? Will his cosmetic problems be our problems in other ways? Perhaps you heard about the opposite vampire who loves to give blood, hates the darkness and has a fetish for garlicâ??how does he get through a bad relationship? How about a DNA altered cat that has been given the personality of one of the world’s most fearsome criminals? Will its human owners understand or will it be a less then purr-fect arrangement?

What’s the common thread to all this discontent, you ask? What is it about most stories that stay the same? It’s the human! These aliens and demonic creatures are sick and tired of being the second fiddle in the story. They want what everybody wants: to be the center of attention of the stories instead of the pesky humans for a changeâ?¦and now they finally get their wish.

Jack finds himself drawn into a world called Alexandria. In this land, individual minds are intimately connected into a shared experience, separate from the reality we live in, consisting entirely on the combined imagination of those that created it.

In Jack’s quest to find and connect with his brother, he discovers that he is the link upon which all humanity depends and that Alexandria has a great role that is bigger than anything he ever imagined. How does such a land even exist? What is Jack’s role in such a world? Jack searches to find these and other answers as he fights to defend Alexandria against the great evil that is growing in the land.

Enveloped by Love: Romantic Stories of Winter (Seasons of Love)

by Kimberly Cook

“Justâ?¦ don’t say any more! Your brother saidâ?¦”

He cut her off. “My brother told you what he thought was true. I spoke with my intended today and told her that I loved another. We found mutual understanding and broke the engagement.”

“You left herâ?¦ for me?” Her disbelief shimmered in watery eyes as they threatened to spill.

“But she has money and prestigeâ?¦”

“But she’s not you, my moon.” He took her hand in his. “And I’d be willing to give up a thousand of her to just get close to you.”

“And then,” He swept her around in circle about him. “When night falls and we are floating away, we’ll dance around the hills, the twinkling stars as our light, and the moon as our chandelier.”

“The snow, with the soft silvery glow, will throw a glitter all around bringing the shadows to dance with us among the trees.”

“And lastly, when we’re ready to rise to heaven, the light of God and heaven will call us home to see all the beloved that have passed before us. We’ll be happy forever then, living in the splendor of love.”

He swayed only now, absorbed totally in his story and the feeling of his love in his arms.

“It’s all so beautiful, Stephen.” She smiled again as he finished, drawing his now attentive eyes to her own. “I wish I could see it with you.”

He cupped her cheek and brought their faces close as he rubbed her nose with his. “You will one day, Clara-love. You will.”

“This, lad, is my grand-daughter, Mirabelle. Isn’t she just lovely?”

William couldn’t find the words to say now. His tongue felt as if it had been anchored to the roof of his mouth and his breath sucked away.

He knew that Mr. Cromwell was still speaking but he couldn’t make out the words. All the world seemed to dim and the only light left in it was the radiance from her, from Mirabelle.

“Hello, nice to meet you, William.” The angels could have been whispering to him but they would have never compared to her dulcet tones, how they rose and fell like a song.

“You’re beautiful.” His cheeks grew warm with his blunt statement.

No, the angels weren’t whispering to him, they were right in front of him. She was an angel!

by Eugenio Salvato

Two brothers separated in tragic circumstances.

Each becomes a gladiator.

One motivated by fame and glory.

The other by justice and retribution.

Both on a quest for freedom.

Both on a mission.

One described as the “irresistible force”.

The other as the “immovable object”.

Now they are on a collision course.

Each trying to thwart the other’s destiny.

Only one can succeed.

Who will prevail?

Immōtus or Indómitus?

“Márcus is the antithesis of his brother. Márius is impregnable: Márcus is irrepressible. Márius has a cautious counter attacking style: Márcus prefers an all-out attacking approach. Márius pounces like a cobra: Márcus ravages like a tornado. The one thing they do have in common is the dazzling speed with which they strike.” ~ Herōdeus Hostílius “CentÅ«rio”

“Sir, every one of his opponents was a despicable human being. They all deserved to die. Even the rabble knows it. If anything, Márcus is providing a public service. They describe him as a wrathful avenger sent by the gods!” ~ Herōdeus Hostílius “CentÅ«rio”

“Think on your sinsâ??for what you have sown, so shall you reap!” ~ Márcus Antōnius “Indómitus”

“But how can you hope to defeat Máriusâ?¦ It only takes one mistake and he capitalizes. He never fails. If you let your guard downâ??just onceâ??he swoops. If you’re unbalanced, he strikes. If you pause for breath, he pounces. He strikes but once, but his aim is always true. Always true, and always deadly.” ~ Décimus Domítius “Héros”
