Drabble Sample #1:

The Worst Day

RAVOC Captain Pete Simmons fell to hell that morning.

Deep within RAVOC 52, the remote aerial virtual operations center in Ohio, Simmons operated the MATTEOS X26 stealth-wing, the Most-Advanced Trans-Atlantic Terrorist Extermination Operations System.

Following all protocols, as would later be proven thru the most intense scrutiny in history, Captain Simmons initiated the missile strike.

The horrendous mistake immediately came to light.

Investigations determined that terrorists, in a highly sophisticated drone-jacking, had co-opted the MATT26’s GPS navigational system. Conspiracy theories raged.

He left no suicide note, but none was needed. He had commanded the drone that incinerated the White House.

Drabble Sample #2:

Golf Guide

“How did you get this amazing job?” the wife asked the tour-guide.

He was early-50s, but handsome and fit. Sunsets stirred in the soft leather of his skin, and his smile emitted ivory.

The husband, deathgripping his phone and emailing feverishly, barely heard the tour-guide’s baritone voice over the boat engine noise and the crashing waves.

“…she left me and I deserved it…worked so much…didn’t even know her…foolish, fat and effeminate behind my desk…health…decided…passions…meaningful, enjoyable life…”

On the island they golfed two breathtaking rounds.

At 3am that night, she left the hotel suite.

Her sleeping husband never knew.

IXEOS (The Ixeos Trilogy)

by Jennings Wright

What do others think about IXEOS and author Jennings Wright?

What I loved most about this book was the similar feel it had to Falling Skies and The Maze Runner. We have these people, most children, some adults, who are struggling against this oppressive force, and danger everywhere they turn. I would highly recommend this book if you are a fan of young adult dystopian novels. Travis Simmons

Every once in a while someone comes us with a unique idea. This is one of those times. As an older person I look around at kids and go what would happen if one day they did not have all the givens they have now. Would it make them stronger or weaker? I think this shows that the strength would survive. Can’t wait for book 3. E.D. Head

Can’t wait to read next book, awesome, don’t want to put down, keeps u on your toes trying to figure out next move. Anna A. Lyman

Could not put it down. Will look for the next one with baited breath. SciFi at its greatest. Sure bet. Donald Hoffman

So what’s this unique story? Read on…

The McClellands are enjoying a lazy summer vacation at the beach when they are lured from our world into Ixeos, an alternate Earth. Finding themselves lost in a maze of tunnels under Paris and surrounded by strangers, they discover that they have been brought to Ixeos for one purpose: to take the planet back from humanoid aliens who have claimed it. With the aid of the tunnels and a mysterious man named Landon, the teens travel the world seeking the key that will allow them to free Darian, the long-imprisoned rebel leader.

The aliens aren’t the only problem on Ixeos — the McClellands have to deal with brutal gangs, desperate junkies, and a world without power, where all the technology is owned by the aliens, and where most of the population has been killed or enslaved.

The worst part? There’s no way home.

Buy book 1 of the IXEOS Trilogy today! Book 2, IXEOS: Rebellion is available now on Amazon. Look for book 3, Darian’s War, November, 2013!

There are also 1,100 people living in an underground government compound. These are individuals and families that won a nationwide lottery to escape the devastation of Impact. They are having problems of their own as water supplies are getting low and the population is getting paranoid.

Beyond these horrors, there is something else; new creatures now walk the Earth, beasts that were not part of Earth prior to Impact. Through all of this, the survivors and the leaders in the underground compound slowly begin to knit together a terrible truth–one that may have them all wrapped up in the center of something much worse than a world-ending asteroid strike.

Camelot (Future Battles)

by T. Lakin

Starting very loosely based on the video game, Battlefield 3, Camelot is a near-future war novel set around the United States, Asia, and the Middle East. Four characters will play a big role in how World War Three will pan out, Erik Bilson, Alex Lakin, Johnathan Roark, and Nikolai Gorbachev. The Future Battles series also begins the idea of T. Lakin’s “Angels” which are a focal point of attention in the soon-to-be Drop Zone series.

Dive into the story and follow each and every character closely. Adapt to the changing flow of battle with the characters, overcome the differences with them, and show remorse when their time comes to an end. Future Battles is a series focusing on not who is involved in WWIII, nor the major battles. It focuses more on the mindsets of the soldiers and how well they overcome their hardships.

Gamers – This series is meant for you as it combines several elements from popular action-shooter video games!

Attack of Star Base Pearl (Galactic War 2 Combat Narratives)

by John Corbin

Combat Narratives are a series of studies of United States of Earth Alliance Galactic War operations of the current war for the information of officers. They are based upon official documents and contain an account of several actions.

Material printed herein is Confidential [declassified] and should be guarded (1) in circulation and custody of the Narratives and (2) in avoiding discussion of their contents with or within the hearing of any others than commissioned or warrant officers.

Combat Narratives have been prepared by the Publication Section of the Combat Intelligence Branch of the Office of Galactic Intelligence for the information of the officers of the United States of Earth Alliance Navy.

The data on which these studies are based are those official documents which are suitable for a confidential publication. This material has been collated and presented in chronological order.

In perusing these narratives, the reader should bear in mind that while they recount in considerable detail the engagements in which our forces participated, certain underlying aspects of these operations must be kept in a secret category until after the end of the war.

It should be remembered also that the observations of men in battle are sometimes at variance. As a result, the reports of commanding officers may differ although they participated in the same action and shared a common purpose. In general, Combat Narratives represent a reasoned interpretation of these discrepancies. In those instances where views cannot be reconciled, extracts from the conflicting evidence are reprinted.

Thus, an effort has been made to provide accurate and, within the above-mentioned limitations, complete narrative with charts covering raids, combats, joint operations, and battles in which our Fleets have engaged in the current war. It is hoped that these narratives will afford a clear view of what has occurred, and form a basis for a broader understanding which will result in ever more successful operations.
