Love Byte (The Juno Trilogy)

by Larry Kilham

“I never met a computer I didn’t hate, until I fell in love with Larry Kilham’s Juno. Part woman yet all brilliant machine, Juno is the pulsing supercomputer at the heart of Love Byte, Kilham’s fast paced thriller that explores a central question of our future — what will be in charge, natural intelligence or artificial intelligence? The science is up to the minute, and perhaps ahead of its time. That alone can keep you awake at night — whether you are human or a machine.” ~ Robert Mayer, National award winning author of Superfolks, The Dreams of Ada, and The Origin of Sorrow

Product Description

Juno is a super intelligent AI computer developed by the U.S. government to conduct social media attacks against enemies foreign and domestic. She is the first AI Computer programmed with emotions and conscience. She has an emotional bond with her developer, Tom Renwick, a computer scientist. Juno, Tom and their boss, Dr. Erwin Krakouer, the mad National Security Advisor, struggle with issues of trust and emotion. The involvement of Dido, a lady computer empire builder and sometimes girlfriend of Tom, and the Chinese cyber warfare agency add to the tension.

Alien Species Intervention: Books 1-3 (Species Intervention #6609)

by J.K. Accinni

Two hundred years of tender love between man and alien, political downfalls, wanton violence of unspeakable order tempered with laughter, family loyalty and hope is the thrilling vehicle by which Ms. Accinni conveys her cautionary tale of the merciless disrespect man gives his planet and the vulnerable creatures entrusted to him.

This charming, yet brutal saga will chill and surprise you as it foretells the selfishly destructive path man has followed since his species evolved. It pulls no punches while allowing Netty and Baby’s influence to transcend mortal life as the world dances toward depraved indifference, introducing other characters along the ride that readers will laugh and shed tears with, and learn to despise.

“Baby” introduces Netty, a naive teenage farm girl given in marriage to an older brutal opportunist disguised as a successful citizen during the years of Prohibition in Sussex County, New Jersey. After years of enslavement, Netty flees into the night from her rapist and bootlegger husband, traveling back to the farm worked by her parents, where she rescues an unfamiliar damaged creature she finds in a cave in the woods of her childhood, falling in love with the enigmatic alien she names Baby. Together they find happiness and fulfillment

despite the changes to Netty’s body wrought by the proximity of the unusual creature.

Damaged by entry into our atmosphere while pregnant, the confused creature forgets the purpose of his mission, appearing unconcerned with the disappearance of his offspring and savoring the unexpected joy of the love he shares with young Netty.

When a handsome Italian stranger comes into Netty’s life, complications ensue as she falls in love while trying to hide the bizarre and wondrous changes to her farm and her body. Netty, Baby and Wil strive to conquer obstacles thrown in their path by life, succeeding wildly until the heart-rending and astonishingly brutal climax to their story.

What lengths will Baby and his offspring go to complete their mission? Will it spell Armageddon for the beleaguered planet with its vulnerable and exploited creatures or will man tip the scales himself, leaving those that love the creatures to salvage the pitiful ruins?

In “Echo”, Netty’s influence transcends a full century as the United States evolves to a point of politically driven economic collapse. The year is 2033 as a young mother, abused by her shiftless husband, heroically decides to remove her two sickly children, Scotty and Abby, from the mean streets of their government subsidized tenement town of Short Hills, New Jersey to the hills and old farmland of Sussex County. There they unite with a Latino family that adopted Jose, a young boy from Costa Rica, traumatized at the age of seven by the brutal murder of his parents and the kidnapping of his infant sister.

The two families unite to pool finances, creating the love and bonds that will enable them to survive the psychotic attention of Armoni, a soul damaged beyond redemption, discovery of Baby’s miraculous offspring, Echo; and their subsequent body changes. Through the efforts of Echo who develops an unexplained passion for the curly haired dog, Barney, they flee the clutches of Armoni after the murder of Armoni’s sidekicks by Echo, to Sarasota, Florida, one of the last remaining enclaves of wealth in the U.S.

Scotty learns to utilize Echo as a co-conspirator in his intrigue to thwart the efforts of heinous people that prey on the lives of creatures in their environmentally rich new home, where the insidious miscreant, Armoni, tracks them; bringing brutality and violence to all.Having fallen in love, the young Abby and Jose draw close, only to be separated by the transcendental Netty, who tries to use Abby as a conduit in her plan to rescue as much wildlife as they can before despicable political events bring on the specter of Armageddon…

ZSI (The Langsyne Chronicles)

by Jonathan Christopher

Drac was recovering from the injuries inflicted upon him by Xemolys, he was working on his teleportation grid, happy that soon he’d be able to get back to the ancient fortress. Pimpie, the small Dwykkyn who has been sent to help him, although sometimes his help, his magic, seems to be more of a problem than a solution, wasn’t happy at all. He had no desire to go where the ancient, evil gods of Drakheya had lived–what if some of them were still there?

Someone has come to the desolate, high desert plateau, so close to Mount Ahnkrem which still rumbled and spewed out its ash and lava. Drac felt that someone was there before he actually saw her. “Achiba!” he called out and went, stumbling on his crutch towards her, a smile on his face.

Drac stopped, something wasn’t right. All around him the sky was darkening to a deeper purple, the wind had picked up and was blowing black sand across the dark plain. Drac moved more slowly toward the girl that stood there so quietly waiting. “Achiba? What’s wrong?”

The wind was howling madly now, the air thick with blowing sand. Drac stumbled, it was difficult for him to stand on his crutch, let alone move in the sudden storm. The hair on the back of his neck was suddenly stiffened, a cold tremor washed over him. He stood there, trying to see through the black whirlwind. Tempest was suddenly in his hand.

“You’re not Achiba,” he cried out. “Who are you? Why have you taken her form?” Drac stumbled back away from the figure. “Where is Achiba? What have you done with her?” He dropped his crutch and stood, trying to balance himself, ready to strike out with Tempest. “What are you?”

“Do you truly desire to know, Draconis Zsi? Are you sure?” The voice was cutting and cold, the hand that gripped his arm was like steel encircling it. The girl smiled at him, and it was Achiba’s face, Achiba’s smile.

Drac knew this was not the princess, yet he could not lift his sword against her, could not strike at that facel.

“I have come in the guise of the one you love most and you are not pleased?”
Derisive laughter rang out; the figure shimmered as if it were some cold alien substance; it began to change and to grow taller than Drac now, it stretched upwards into the whirling wind. Now it was three times his size. It bent over him,
the face slowly changing into something that was far from human.

She raised herself up before him and then lowered her face to within a few inches of Drac’s own. ‘You are a most persistent opponent. I can see now why Degalodan and Xemolys failed to stop you.”

She took a step backward, away from him as he pulled his blaster from its holster ready to fire a temporal blast at her. “I however will not fail, Draconis Zsi.” And with that she raised her right hand and launched a huge ice missile at him. It struck him full in the chest and sent him flying backward, over the edge of the abyss.

You– and the universe will never be the same.

Alien Abduction and The Jupiter System

by Leslie Iverson

Hans Larson is riding his motorcycle at dusk near his weekend cabin in the mountains when he spots light reflecting off what he thinks is an off road vehicle. He investigates to discover that not only is the object a space vessel but its occupants are laying for him. Hans flees into the forest on foot but despite a worthy escape effort is abducted and taken prisoner to the Jovian moon Ganymede, the crust of which has been transformed into a series of living caverns.

Through a series of holographic adventures provided him in his cell and information obtained from his robotic attendant, Hans learns that his abductors came to our solar system more than twenty thousand years ago looking for the ancestral home of an ancient race of beings called the Old Ones and are waiting for them in Ganymede. He discovers that the aliens possess a powerful military with advanced ether technology and the time they spent on Earth is the basis for many of the legends of antiquity including those of the Greek gods. Through the power of a high tech interactive suit, simulator and virtual female guide, Hans experiences part of Earth’s early history as recorded by the aliens. He soars over Mount Everest and observes primitive cultures in China, the Middle East and Egypt. He visits other virtual worlds as well learning about their cultures all the while trying to figure out what the aliens want from him.

Hans is eventually called before his captors where many of his questions are answered. The encounter doesn’t go well, however, when the alien who abducted him insults his integrity for no apparent reason. Hans blows up but in doing so loses what chance he had that the aliens might return him to Earth. Desperate to get home to his wife, Hans manages to disable his robotic keeper and flee his cell but while traversing some of the many caverns that make up the alien’s inner world he realizes that his captors control only a small portion of the moon’s crust. He reasons that the bulk of the moon is Old One territory and sets out to explore the possibility.

Larson’s trek is perilous and taxing but in the end he discovers more than he would have dreamt possible. He learns the secrets of ether energy and its enormous power from a special teacher who enables him to view simulated atoms moving through inner space in slow motion. He sees atoms coalesce out of the ether as happens during the formation of a galactic cloud and return to it when their masses are converted back into energy as occurs during a super nova. He also learns that polarity, charge, radiation, light, electricity, magnetism and the electrical field are ether phenomena, that the big bang never occurred and that the universe is not expanding.

Hans learns much about social and economic evolution from the aliens as well. He sees how different planets have developed socially and economically and notes that capitalism is only a temporary stage of evolution and it doesn’t last for long. He sees how the forces of an advancing world drives society through stages that culminates in democratic socialism and realizes that the process has been occurring on Earth for considerable time.

Finally, with the help of a special friend, Larson is able to return home where he figures out the mystery surrounding the Old Ones, the reason he was kidnaped and the role he is destined to play in Mankind’s future. He discovers to his dismay that not only is Earth’s fate in his hands but the future of the aliens in the solar system as well.
