This review is from: Blackbird: A Boy Meets The Devil For the First Time (Kindle Edition)

I’ve been reading about 70 years and Blackbird is one of those rare nuggets of pure gold in a whole mountain of clay . It plays out like the blues, full of riffs and bass and gravel that spin themselves into a mirror of soul not ashamed to get down and dirty and come up dragging us into a light we refused to open our eyes to before. Don’t let the stomp and shuffle and guffaws fool you into thinking it’s not about you, you ain’t gonna get off that easy. I was in Gadsden Alabama for about three months in 1958, and he’s not telling any lies. It was my first experience with deep southern segregationist views. A great morality tale told by a masterful and powerful writer about a very unique character.

About this story:

(Please Note: This is a short story or article. It is not an eBook. Please do not purchase if you desire it to be a long eBook. It is not.)

THEN HER WIG FELL OFF is a story that I heard and wrote about, in a Hair Salon, the same one that is pictured on the cover of the book.

Inside you will meet the person I call “The Magician” who takes anyone who walks through the door, and not only makes their hair look better, but makes them FEEL better as well.

Even if they are old… or have cancer.

This story has received over 100 positive comments…

By far the most popular thing I, the author has ever written.

We’re all human, both the beautiful, and the not so, those in their prime, and those dying.

This is a story that lifts the human spirit.

The Obama Review

O’Hares Compendium of Contentious Social Rhyme – Part 1

by John Hare

From the author of the number 1 Best seller â??The Prime Ministers Wife’.

The Contentious Social Rhyme series came about by the author travelling around Great Britain and listening to the comments and observations of everyday folk regarding the current state of the nation.

Politics, religion, love, life, gambling and addiction are but a few of the topics covered in books one and two, with the more radical viewpoints on such issues being recreated in verse.

Humour, pathos, hope and despair all feature within these pages and no doubt many readers will concur with or violently oppose the sentiments expressed herein.

Whatever your viewpoint, the common denominator in this work is its undeniable thought provoking capacity to engage all readers of poetry in the more contentious issues of daily life.

I hope you enjoy.

Self-Publishing: Scams, Lies, and BULLSH*T – How NOT to Promote and Market Your Ebook

by S.R. Tooms

This humorous, yet highly informative booklet explores the darker side of self-publishing – revealing the many follies and pitfalls; the endless swindles and bamboozles which lurk in the shadowy, slimeball encrusted corners…

It is tailor-made for anyone fitting the following descriptions:

-Beginning authors trying to get a foot in the door (building your platform)

-Writers who have been bilked out of hundreds of dollars (perhaps more!) on faulty marketing or advertising scams

-Anyone interested in taking the self-publishing or self-marketing route

-Those who wish to understand the common run of the mill schemes which endlessly plague the rapidly expanding marketplace

-People wise enough to realize a little knowledge goes a long way

This is not a book which states “Follow my ten simple steps and you too can become a best-selling author!”

I am not here to make idle promises, tug at your heart-strings, or pander to your desires – no, no, far from it in fact. For I too grew tired of the deceitful programs, the misleading systems, the fake and fruitless guides that are all too prevalent in this booming industry. I do not whisper sweet nothings in your ear or guarantee success if you purchase my products…I am here to expose the widespread time sinks many, if not all, beginning writers fall victim to. Spare yourself the frustration of countless failed attempts, only to end up clutching handfuls of hair which you have unknowingly ripped from your own head! And that, fair reader, is a hard look to pull off.

With this book, I hope you will utilize the age old maxim of “Learn from the mistakes of others – you don’t have time to make them all on your own.”

Now come with me and let us take a look inside this depraved activity we call promotion…

However these 35 stories give you a good picture of the enjoyment you can get from the main book, currently priced at $3.99 or the equivalent on Amazon Kindle.

Jess caught his first salmon on the Tay in 1961 and fished the river for 40 years keeping notes of many extraordinary happenings and occurrences from which this book is drawn.

Each story is numbered, making this a ‘pick up and put down any time’ book and readers enjoy working out the 10 stories that are not true so they can make their free entries into the trueorfalsefishingstories.com online competition.

The Ultimate Guide To All Those Things You’ve Never Really Wanted To Achieve

by Adam Betley

Have you ever wondered how to tell a difference between a shark and an apple? Or how to blurgh? Or maybe how to ride a bicycle when you’re an elephant and want to get to work quickly but there’s a traffic jam? Or maybe you’ve spent countless hours wondering how to tell your right ear that you prefer the left one? Of course you haven’t, ’cause that would be pointless.

But someone had to (HAD TO) ask those questions and someone also had to answer them. And that someone had to be someone and I’m someone as much as the next person, but he has friends, PS4 and his grandma makes the best apple-pie on this planet that we call Earth (though it would prefer to be called “Sheila”). That is why I have created this ultimate guide. It was just inescapable.

â??This is the best book I have ever written, read or just simply starred at, making it feel uncomfortable.” – me.

“I haven’t really read it, I mean, I don’t like this sort of books, I don’t think they are THAT funnyâ?¦ but hey, I’m sure this one’s great.” – my GF. Thanks. I guess.

â??This is URINE!” – my grandfather, if he was British.

Rag Aphorisms

by Hernán Pablo Compá Corso

Visit Afo´s world in www.afobook.com. In a context where aphorisms have become a popular form of expression, Rag Aphorisms is a very up-to-date and entertaining book, which pursues an adequate balance between deep and frivolous, in order to seduce the buyer of gift-books without disappointing the reader of aphorisms.

The 40 aphorisms are illustrated by watercolours showing Afo, the rag doll, in different attitudes, personifying the message but also lightening up any excessive seriousness with its simplicity.

Welcome to Beeky Airlines

by Seth Campos

Welcome to Beeky Airlines introduces the comic strip “Carl and Ben…and Beeky,” the creation of 14-year-old cartoonist Seth Campos. The comic strip showcases the main character Carl, who is a lot like the neighborhood 11-year-old boy but who has two very unusual friends. His first friend, Ben, is a bear who has lost most of his wild instincts and finds his niche at money-making ventures, and even owns a coffee stand (BenBucks). Carl’s other friend is Beeky, a smart-aleck and inventive bird who creates things like an airplane out of boxes–and it really flies!

In this comic collection you’ll read about Carl doing things like driving himself to school and turning in a creative writing paper loaded with stick people drawings. Ben, the domesticated bear, attempts to hibernate and gets scared in the wild. And Beeky builds a homemade airplane made of boxes, rescues the group out of the Grand Canyon, and takes them safely home to Onion Hill.

Welcome to Beeky Airlines is for readers of ALL ages who want lighthearted, wholesome fun and humor produced by the fresh imagination of a youth author.
