100 Nights in the Dark: A Collection of Contemporary Film Reviews and Essays

by Joe Barlow

The Timeless and Hilarious Movie Review Guide

First published in 2000, Joe Barlow’s 100 Nights in the Dark remains a witty and indispensable collection of film reviews and insightful cinema commentary. Examining the movies released between 1997 and 2000, Barlow highlights the best and worst films of this period, and offers amusing–and occasionally controversial–opinions on them. (He liked The Phantom Menace? He hated Saving Private Ryan?)

But no matter what you might think of his sanity, the fact remains that 100 Nights in the Dark is a funny, and occasionally even insightful, look at film. Includes an introduction by Robert Wederquist, editor of the pioneering website The DVD Journal.

The hectic fast paced life of today leaves little room and time for relaxation. Relief from stress is essential and has been scientifically proven. But the most therapeutic remedy for this would be having a little humour in one’s life. Humour alleviates boredom created by the mundane life one leads today. It is painless and easily obtainable for the young as well as old. It infuses compatibility when it is shared. Hence one does a good turn when one shares jokes, laughs aloud or doubles up with laughter. Even if it is a silly giggle or a loud guffaw or rollicking laughter, it is a sign of happiness and a boost for soothing tension or alleviating pain. Jokes can be serious, sarcastic, insulting, teasing, scary or just plain humour, yet they are enough to engage us all.

Adult Video – Episode 2: Seth Can’t Get Any Alone Time

by Lexi Maxxwell

Adult Video: It’s like Clerks in a porn shop.

Episode #2: Seth Can’t Get Any Alone Time

After a long morning watching a hot and slutty group of girls play with the sex toys and their plans to use them, Seth’s built up a time bomb in his pants that’s in desperate need of relief. But when Heather and Tiffany realize Seth’s horny plight, they decide to ratchet up the hotness, determined to torment him further without a corresponding moment alone to “relax.” Who will break first in this game of wills and crotches — Heather and Tiffany, or Seth’s unbelievaboner?

Haven’t read any of the other episodes? Don’t worry; you don’t need to read Adult Video in order to get your laughs on.

About Adult Video

Meet Heather, Tiffany, and Seth: the clerks behind the counter of Happy Endings — a brightly lit “couples friendly” sex shop. Tiffany is the good girl who thinks all people deserve healthy sexual expression. Heather, the sluttiest girl ever to wield a slut stick, can’t stop making fun of the customers â?¦ or taking care of them in the back room. Seth, the all-American slacker, just wants to screw them both. And all the while, glory-hole attendant Sancho (AKA “Guacamole”) waits in the back, eager for leftovers.

Adult Video is a first-of-its-kind, genre-defying “inappropriate sitcom about assholes in a sex shop” from Lexi Maxxwell (the author of The Future of Sex, A Temptation in Time, MILF, La Fleur de Blanc, The XXX Files, Together Apart,, and many more) and Max Power (author of the “ebook sitcoms” Space Shuttle, Everyone Gets Divorced, and Greens). Adult Video is far more comedy than erotica and guaranteed to make you laugh — if you’re the kind of person who laughs at things you probably shouldn’t.

What Readers Are Saying About Lexi Maxxwell’s laugh-out-loud sitcom Adult Video:

“This book is exactly what is promised: Kevin Smith ‘s Clerks in a porn shop. It also delivers on it’s promise to tickle your funny bone,as well as other things.”

“This series is more than just sex jokes, though there are plenty of those. I don’t even know how to classify it. It’s erotica, funny stuff, inappropriate stuff â?¦ the whole enchilada. There are even parts in the full season I’d call a funny romantic comedy â?¦ albeit a really dirty one. All I know is I love it.”

“I couldn’t stop reading this once I started. I just needed to know what happened with the characters. It was funny and hot at the same time. Makes you want to work @ a porn shop. Worth every penny. Lexi is definitely my favorite writer.”

“I loved this book. I laughed out loud from most of lexi’s stories, but this one completely hilarious. The moment I purchased this book, I knew I was in for a great ride. What could be better than having a story set in an adult store. I’ve always imagined what the workers did during their shifts but never thought to write it out. If you want a book that makes you feel like you the guy/woman overhearing some crazy is, this book is for you. Yes there’s sex, but it add to the story. I look forward to reading more of Heather, Tiffany, & Seth. Lexi never fails me.

Dirty jokes, sex jokes, even romance humor if you’re twisted enough to find it. This series has it all. If you like your humor inappropriate and your erotica funny, Adult Video is just what you’ve been waiting for.

The laugh out loud FIRST FULL SEASON (episodes 1-12) of Adult Video for just $5.99 at amazon.com/dp/B00FJOKGTC â?¦ a full season of inappropriate fun is just a click away!

Reality TV Shows that Truly Suck and Why: Stay Tuned Losers! The Networks are Banking that You’ll Keep Watching!

by David Batterson

Reality TV Shows that Truly Suck and Why

Stay Tuned Losers! The Networks are Banking that You’ll Keep Watching!

So why does reality TV suck so bad? Because we accept the garbage they keep producing. One wretched excuse of a show after another is under produced and plastered all over our television screens for us to watch. All the while product and service advertisers spend millions for us to watch their ad blocks, hoping we’ll buy their garbage. What a joke! What a waste of a $1,250.00 60 inch HD LED flat screen smart TV (sounds even crazier when you actually type that out).

I know that I’m just a realist with high expectations and that I’m really hard to please. But when I consider how much the cable bill is verses the garbage cans of entertainment that I get to choose from, I don’t think it all equates. So I thought…. We should start a coalition to demand an increase in not only family entertainment and choices as a whole as well as overall production value, but to attack the root of the entire problem right out of the gate. Reality TV!

Reality TV has replaced the family oriented sitcom that dominated television for half a century. It happened right before our eyes and we accepted the trade. The trade however was unfair! We got screwed! Big executives with fancy cars keep signing deals to film one ridiculous reality show after another, selling premium ad blocks to advertisers during the shows airing and making out like bandits in the end. No actors, no budgets, no sets, no real scripts… No art…. No Creativity!!! NO VALUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So what are we going to do about it? Keep watching? Not me! And you shouldn’t either!
