Become A Famous Actor: How To Book Acting Work With Your Demo Show Reel

by David Patrick Green

So you want the perfect demo show reel?

In this expose / educational primer, David Patrick Green reveals everything he has learned as a professional actor and as the founder of the most revolutionary acting career system in existence over the last 10 years. He also identifies the stunning reality of what a reel should look like and what it should be used for.

This book succinctly summarizes what any professionally aspiring actor needs to know about this widely discussed but mostly misunderstood representation of an actor’s work.

Green shares how he learned the hard way how to create and, more importantly, how to use this acting tool to drive one’s acting aspirations to the highest heights.

While the message may cause some industry ‘experts’ to squirm, actors themselves will delight at the unrivaled clarity Mr. Green brings to such a controversial topic.

No one unapologetically undresses the business like the Hack Hollywood founder. This incredibly concise but definitive guide illuminates the crossroads where hype meets reality. This time the helpless victim of Green’s laser-like aim is the often misunderstood and overused acting demo show reel.

On the first read, your mind will be spinning. After a couple of double takes, all actors will feel more empowered than ever and understand exactly what to do to ensure that whatever footage they can get a hold of contributes as much as possible to the growth of their acting resume.

Like all acting tools, the reel is widely misunderstood and Green crystallizes the essence of how to compile one’s material so that it helps rather than hurts. He also shows exactly by whom and, at what moment, an actor should reveal their past work. Perhaps even more importantly, he tells you when not to show it.

In Hollywood and abroad, reels are like opinions. Everyone has one but few are well thought out.

Shooting Old Film Cameras – Minolta XG-7 – Volume 12

by Paul Moore

Approximately 80 pages with more than 75 color images. This book is entirely pictorial.

There is considerable debate among photographers about whether film is better than digital with about an equal number lining up on both sides and presenting their opinions and relevant and irrelevant data. It is not the purpose of this volume to espouse one position or another. It is sufficient to know that they are each different and subject to a considerable range of interpretation.

However, it is quite enjoyable to take one of these old cameras, that have absolutely no automatic functionality, and create excellent images. I suspect that it is the same force that drives auto enthusiasts to take an old Model T Ford car and restore it. They certainly don’t have the power and ease of operation of modern automobiles but they are extraordinarily fun to drive!

Unlike other books about old cameras this one does not dwell on the fine technicalities of the individual camera (although limited technical data is present) but to present images taken with each camera to show the reader concrete examples of images taken with each model.

The author began photography and photo-journalism in early 1963 when he accepted an offer from his local newspaper to write about and photograph sports events at the Arizona high school where he was a junior. After a stint in the service, he had an opportunity to study photography and printing techniques with Bernard Hoffman, a true gentleman and scholar, and one of the earliest staff photographers for Life Magazine.

Since that time he has had thousands of photographs and hundreds of articles published by more than 60 national and international periodicals. He was also a contributing editor for one of them for more than ten years. Topics ran the gamut from professional sports, medicine, archeology, and photography to science.

After twenty years away from Arizona he returned in 1985 and it has been the base from which all his photographic excursions are launched. Along with many others he has embraced digital photography but can still be seen, from time to time, peering through the ground glass of a large format camera, hoisting a large medium format 6×7, or indeed still using a 35mm film camera.

The photographer currently has fine art photography on exhibit at The Center for Fine Arts in Globe, Arizona, and is currently represented by more than ten stock photo agencies where he has more than 13,000 photographs available for commercial use.

Slope paved with stone: Short stories like long poetry about Meeting and separation and comeback

by ç?§é?? å??

I wrote short story “Short short” like long poetry consist of 15 stories. The expression of diary or letter or soliloquizing or etc is used and each volume is complete reading and an independent story. I think that common thread is “Meeting, separation and comeback” and happiness and the feeling of well-being are the one feeling it more strongly after it separates at that time. Because it recovers from the impermanent sadness and the person expects meeting again, I never think “Meeting and separation” to be no “Start and end”. If sympathy is obtained as a short short story, I think that I am glad.

3 Steps Every Artist Must Take To Protect His Music

by Thomas Needler

A GUIDE FOR EVERY ARTIST TO PROTECT HIS MUSIC – Here in 3 easy short and simple to understand steps are steps every musician should take to protect their music.

by Stephen Merritt Parker

JR and Ray are close friends who work in the Collections Unit for the Missouri Division of Employment Security in Jefferson City. Their days are spent tracking down delinquent employers in order to collect Unemployment Insurance tax. When required Collections will garnish or seize business and personal assets to satisfy the tax debt, which goes into the federal assistance program that pays unemployment insurance benefits.

Although the two friends share much in common they have sharply different political views and opinions. When the 2008-2009 worldwide financial/economic crisis brings an unprecedented flood of unemployment claims the Division temporarily assigns them to the Claims call center to help process initial unemployment benefit applications.

The responses from Ray and JR towards applicants are not what many might expect. Coming into direct contact with those most severely impacted by the crisis leads to a wide disparity of responses, depending on the specific situation encountered. When government policy intersects with on-the-ground reality of despair, hope, anger, rage, and sympathy the results are often predictable or surprising, but rarely politically correct.

The crisis affects all involved to varying degree, including those whose job it is to collect taxes and administer unemployment benefits. For all the news reports and endless debate about economic and fiscal issues the true story of hope, heartbreak, perseverance, and suffering takes place on the individual level of personal experience.

Life Don’t Give You No Do Overs: A family in crisis drama. (A 2 Act Play)

by Andy Accioli

“Harvest his organs? Harvest? Like some damn corn field in Kansas?”

17 year old, Billy Hanover, severely injured in a high school football game, is artificially being kept alive pending the arrival of his mom who is away on a business trip.

The play takes place in a hospital’s trauma center waiting room.

Billy’s quirky (New Age) aunt arrives with his grandma who has lost her ability to speak as a result of a stroke (who now has a “voice” by ringing a bell and writing endless notes).

There is another family in the waiting room. They are black and have a son, Jonah, who has suffered with heart problems from birth through his childhood. Jonah, who is also 17, is being prepared for a heart transplant. Friction between both families occur when Craig, Billy’s uncle arrives with his severe case of narcissism coupled with racism.

Although Jim, Billy’s dad, agrees to donate Billy’s organs, his ex-wife Peg, Billy’s mom, won’t hear of it especially after the hospital’s transplant donor coordinator refers to the procedure as Billy’s organs being harvested upon his death. Peg responds: “Harvest his organs? Harvest? Like some damn corn field in Kansas?”

At the end, Peg is left alone: Clutching the memories of her only child.

The Photography of Travis Michael Burns (Digital Images from ARound the World Book 1)

by Travis Burns

About the author:

Travis Michael Burns, is a photographer from Denver, Colorado. Born in 1976, growing up as an artist doing graffiti street art, painting murals & painting canvases.

Now living in Seattle, Washington doing art, working in theater arts, concert production & photo production. Starting out as a photographer in the 90’s & working as a military photographer in 2001 gave way to the access to cameras and the drive to photographing everything in the world, including other people’s artwork, gallery showings, and creative murals in all cities that one could possibly travel too.

Overall I have spent my whole life trying to be an artistic inspiration to others; thru graffiti murals, and street arts, thru photography, videography and creative artistry I have tried to do my best to be as productive as possible and be an inspiration. Ultimately being arrested for doing art murals, doing video and photography on the streets is no joke; ultimately I have been in many instances of danger to capture images of peoples artwork in many places. And just to produce these magazines I have had to take time away from photo and artistic production just to get these images online into print. Overall some people who say I wasted my life chasing photos of other people’s art. I do believe that I have done my best to record these instances in time which others might have shared as well. I know that people will eventually want to look upon these timeless images and absorb the magic which they contest to the world. I have tried to go to college several times, I am not the best student I guess. I have spent a good portion of my life out in the world, and the rest of the time in school. I would say that I have had enough of school, i just want to live and enjoy life. going and doing photography I guess is my lively hood as well as doing concert, movie and event production. I suppose there is always a show somewhere on the planet which needs a stagehand, video projectionist or a photographer of some kind. I also feel fortunate to b e able to produce my world online in this day and age, yet I also feel ignored just the same. While 100 years ago people might have taken notice to my arts, and paid attention to my photography, I almost feel as if I am completely looked over, my talent will go unnoticed until I’m dead. I suppose that is the American way anyone with real talent is completely looked over until they die. well unless they play football or can sing some shit vocoder drenched out of tune shitty hip hop music. No matter what I feel that these images all tell their own tales, each picture is worth 1,000 words. While I find that I am Not the best writer, I am however sometimes a decent enough of a photographer to be able to produce photos for people. I feel it is my goal to be a quality photographer and artist, to do my best to produce the best art that I can. While shooting photos of places, murals, artwork and capturing images which all tell a tale by someone else, it is my goal to portrait the other peoples message through my photography the best that I possibly can. Sometimes that goal is near impossible but I do my best as I believe as a production artist it is up to me to do the best job I can possibly produce.
