Houdini’s Last Trick (The Burdens Trilogy)

by David Khalaf

A 2015 FINALIST for the JukePop/Black Hills Press Summer Writing Project

Harry Houdini has a talent unlike any otherâ??and it isn’t magic. The world’s most famous illusionist has escaped death countless times because of his supernatural ability to see potential outcomes. But his secret talent is about to be revealed.

When a man on the run seeks out the magician for help from a deadly pursuer, the only outcome Houdini sees is death. Even so, he must perform his most dangerous illusion to lure a supernaturally strong man to Hollywood, where he and a band of other uniquely gifted friends can confront him. It’s a risky move that will force Houdini to decide who can live and who must die.

An origins story of The Sixteen Burdens, this standalone novella takes place fifteen years before Gray Studebaker finds himself in the middle of the hunt for Newton’s Eye. Read Houdini’s Last Trick before The Sixteen Burdens to get the full backstory, or wait to read until after you jump into the full-length novels.

The Hunted: Book Two (The Crystal Coast Series 2)

by Chrissy Lessey

The Hunted, Book Two in the Amazon best selling Crystal Coast Series, continues with Stevie Lewis believing she has vanquished the greatest threat to her son, and beginning to embrace her newly revealed magical legacy. Someday, she will inherit her mother’s role as queen and protector of the amulet. For now, there is much to learn, so she plans to continue her training with the coven. With Dylan by her side, Stevie settles into a transformed, yet peaceful, life in her beloved hometown of Beaufort, North Carolina.

Left to live out her days in a dreary psychiatric hospital, Susan Moore has no hope of retrieving the amulet that would restore her magical gifts. But when she meets Chaplain Benjamin Parris, descendant of the notorious reverend behind the Salem Witch Trials, she plots a deadly conspiracy.

The coven members endure their worst fears as Susan and the chaplain work against them. Left weakened after the theft of their protective amulet, they confront the unthinkable as a modern day witch-hunt begins to unfold in their small town. In the end, Stevie and the coven are forever changed.

The Crystal Coast Series is targeted at readers who enjoy a fast moving story of modern witches intertwined with the coven’s historical beginnings in the 1700s when Blackbeard’s Queen Anne’s Revenge docks at an island off the coast of North Carolina. The Secret Keepers is the short story prequel to the series in which we discover the horrific role the pirate Blackbeard played in his attempts to destroy the coven. The first book in the series is The Coven which takes place in present day Beaufort, and is where we first meet Stevie, her autistic son Charlie, and the Beaufort Historical Society, the front for the coven. The Hunted is the second book and is focused on modern day witch hunters who conspire with evil witches to bring the coven down.

Miracle at Coffeeville: And Other Legends of Christmas

by Darrell Case

A collection of Christmas stories to warm your heart

If you’re like me, you love the season of Christmas. The festive atmosphere, the tree, the gifts, the feasting, the songs. People seem to be kinder to each other. There are gatherings with family and friends. However, there is a danger. We can become so wrapped up in the celebration that we forget the true meaning of Christmas. That Christ came to provide for us eternal life. That the babe in the manger was just a prelude to The Savoir on the cross.

It is my hope this little book will help you recapture the joy of the season. May God bless you and may you have a wonderful Christmas.

Children of Evolution (The Gateway Series Book 2)

by Toby Minton

“It’s got to be hard to keep amazing coming and coming in each chapter, but Toby set the standard in his first novel and this one stays true to form.”

With her world turned inside out, Nikki is struggling to feel anything besides useless and alone, even though she and Michael are closer than ever. Her first instinct was to curl up and hide, but four months of feeling sorry for herself was three and a half months too many. Her world clearly isn’t going to fix itself, so she’s taking over.

Now she’s hitting the streets every night, searching for somethingâ??anythingâ??to make her feel like her old self again. But what she finds is a nightmare.

A vicious new threat is prowling the shadows, a herald of the coming apocalypseâ??a threat that might be closer to home than anyone realizes.
