One Last Spell: Paranormal Witch Cozy Mystery & Romance

by Raven Snow

Zelda has sworn never to perform magic again. She’s also sworn never to help solve a murder again — last time she did both, disaster occurred. She’s had it with magic, murder, and men.

She’s happy with her life now, secluded on the mountainside in the small cozy town of Castlerock. No one bothers her and that’s the way she likes it. But when her long lost best friend and police detective Jessica turns up on Zelda’s doorstep one day everything changes. Jessica tells her there’s been a murder in town and Zelda is the only one who can help.

Last time, things ended in disaster. Zelda’s life and relationships were destroyed. Zelda however can’t say no to her best friend, especially when she hears that the murder victim is someone Zelda knew – a fellow outcast. Now the case is personal in more ways than one. Zelda agrees to help out but only this one last time.

Zelda meets handsome but bumbling police recruit Josh, and she gets dragged further and further into the mystery, she might just have to rethink her stance on life. Maybe life back with the mortals might not be so bad after all, but things are not all they seem.

Can Zelda solve the case and put her past to rest?

Will Josh prove himself to be worthy of a witch’s affections?

Will this really be Zelda’s last spell?

Short Story. Volume 1 (approx. 10,000 words) ends with a small cliffhanger. Story concludes in Volume 2 (also approx. 10,000 words), which is available free (linked in the book). Romance is CLEAN.

Milly Flopper, Psycho Copper

by Mark C Sutton

The year is 2057, and a serial-killer known only as ‘Shy-Boy’ is making his presence felt deep in the heart of the decaying, slum-ridden English city of Blackchapel. Assigned to investigate the series of murders are two privately-funded policewomen, the level-headed and professional Stacey Hetheridge, and her erratic, lice-infested and booze-addled colleague, Milly Flopper, who just happens to harbour a very dark secret; the young woman is a dangerous psychopath, who has secretly killed before, and is only too keen to murder again.

‘Milly Flopper, Psycho Copper’ provides not only a brutally dark and humorous tale of two very different women trying their best to solve a baffling murder mystery, but also offers a disturbing look forward, at a completely dysfunctional future that England might well be slowly sleep-walking towards…

Disclaimer: ‘Milly Flopper, Psycho Copper’ contains scenes of violence and coarse-language, and is most definitely not for minors. Similarly, if you are easily offended, then it is highly recommended that you do not read this novel. You have been warned!

‘Like’ Murder: An Inspector McLean Mystery

by David Rudlin

The YouTube video made a chilling threat:

“Over the next ten days I will post the profiles of five people who have escaped justice. Every one of them deserves to die. You, the people, will decide which one actually does. Read the profiles, then click Like on who you think is the worst of a bad bunch. The person who gets the most votes dies. It’s that simple.”

As Scotland Yard’s Inspector McLean and his team fight their way past the anonymity of the internet to find the would-be killer, the size and ferocity of his digital lynch mob grows exponentially. Will the detectives be able to solve the case before murder by popular demand goes viral?

“â??Like’ Murder” is the fifth Inspector McLean Mystery by David W. Rudlin.

A Study in Scarlet

by Arthur Conan Doyle

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was a Scottish physician and writer known around the world for his stories about detective Sherlock Holmes, which all but created the literary field of crime fiction and made the name Sherlock Holmes synonymous with detectives. Aside from the Sherlock Holmes stories, he was a prolific writer whose other works include science fiction stories, historical novels, plays and romances, poetry, and non-fiction.

A Study in Scarlet was the first work of fiction to incorporate the magnifying glass as an investigative tool. The book’s title derives from a speech given by Holmes to his companion Doctor Watson on the nature of his work, in which he describes the story’s murder investigation as his “study in scarlet”: “There’s the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it.”
