Il desiderio di avventura è connaturato in noi. Non per nulla desideriamo prendere l’aereo e andarcene a cercare emozioni magari in siti archeologici esotici e lontani, per poi sentirci novelli Indiana Jones. Ma, sia che andiamo a Petra oppure a Palenque, ignoriamo che in meno di un’ora di macchina, o di pulman, o di treno, o di bicicletta da Roma, possiamo giungere in luoghi misteriosi che sembrano distare diecimila chilometri, e dove si possiamo vivere sensazioni particolari.
Mentre mi scapicollavo avventurosamente, al solito, fra rovi, fili spinati e anfratti, cominciai a guardare con occhio diverso i luoghi segreti a due passi da Roma che andavo individuando: castelli, mulini, torri, sistemi ipogei, gallerie per regimentare le acque, accorgendomi della caratteristica che li accomunava: questi luoghi segreti sono la summa di una storia millenaria di lavoro, idee, eccellenze. E sono tutti belli. Una bellezza a chilometro zero.
Non c’è dunque solo l’avventura. C’è il Paesaggio, il bene culturale più importante d’Italia, poiché tutto racchiude, costituito dall’opera millenaria dell’uomo e dalla natura fuse tra loro, e mi ha fatto comprendere che non c’è paese al mondo più dell’Italia che abbia costruito un’identità così unica nei secoli e che si riverbera appunto in un paesaggio altrettanto unico.
