by Joshua Guess

Months after averting disaster during her first days on the job, Kitra Singh is finally settling in. On the surface everything is fine. Her job overseeing a superhuman detention facility is getting easier, she is coping with the many changes in her life, and she has even made a few friends.

Below, where no one can see, Kit’s world is a darker place. She has to cope with knowing the destruction of a small town, killing thousands, was not the accident the world believes it to be. Worse, that her mentor may have had a hand in planning it. To find the truth, Kit must live two lives.

By day she is a Director in the Office of Superhuman Affairs, watching out for the welfare of her fellow Next and normal humans alike. By night she works to strip away the lies built up around the destruction of Fairmont. Along the way she will discover horrific answers and be faced with betrayal.

Life Is Recess: The Games We Play: (The Philosophy and Psychology of not taking things so gosh darn seriously.)

by Kai W Anders

Life is ALWAYS exactly as serious as WE choose for it to be!

Let me ask you a question: somewhere in the back of your mind, do you have the sense that somewhere, there was a class that was supposed to teach you how to be an adult… but you missed it? Do you walk around pretending to be an adult, while secretly hoping no one asks you the questions that were taught in the adult class, because then you will be found out to be faking it all these years? I’ll explain why this is and what to do about it inside.

We can and do choose how we perceive the world: a tragedy, a comedy, a thriller or something else. To me, it is the elementary school playground. There are lots of children playing lots of different games varying levels of skills required. The older kids seem wise to the younger kids. Kids are hurt and sent to the school nurse, only to come back to the playground nursing their pains. There are leaders and followers, cheaters and honest kids, losers and winners. There are the vain kids, the scared kids, the rich kids and the poor kids. We find every level of society on the playground.

We find the teacher’s helpers, who aren’t teachers but rather, young “adults” who are looked up to by the kids as being grown up. These young men and women usually act somewhat like the mediators among the kids, intervening when games go awry and rules need to be followed. And then there are the teachers themselves: adults who don’t seem the care much what games are being played or what the rules are, but are primarily interested in reminding the kids what the “laws” of the playground are. Laws like, Be Kind to one another. Don’t steal (no one will want you to hang out with you), don’t hurt others, don’t destroy the playground – because then you won’t have it to have fun on, treat everyone with respect, and so on.

In this book, I define the difference between small children, teenagers, grownups, and adults. Each have a certain maturity of mind that causes them to see the world in very different ways. Surprisingly, the smallest difference in views is between the teenagers and the grownup. The largest changes in perception is when we truly become Adults, which many people go back into the Mystery without ever experiencing.

This world is very similar to the playground, in part, because there are lots of kids, a few grownups, and even fewer Adults. This book offers examples, analogies, and exercises on how to make the final shift of maturing in the world: from being a grownup to becoming a “True Adult.”
