by Publishing house “Nestor-Historia”.

The monograph is devoted to the analysis of the influence of ideological campaigns and discussions (the struggle against “sycophancy” towards the West, the struggle against “bourgeois objectivism,” the anti-cosmopolitan campaign, discussions on linguistics and political economy) of “late Stalinism” against Soviet historical science. For the first time in the scientific literature, a general picture of the influence of ideological campaigns and discussions on the corporation of Soviet historians is given. To reveal the mechanisms and regularities of the processes under study, Soviet historical science fits into the political culture of the Stalin era. The state of the professional community of historians in the 1930s-1940s is analyzed in detail. It is proved that the direction, dynamics and content of the ideological “workings” depended to a great extent on the situation within the corporation itself (group, institutional and individual conflicts, career ambitions, social psychology of generations of historians, etc.). A detailed description of the passage of campaigns at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (including the Leningrad branch), Moscow State University, Leningrad State University and the Moscow Historical Archives Institute. The relatively positive consequences of ideological campaigns are also shown. In particular, they gave a powerful impetus to the development of historiographic research in the Soviet Union. To reveal the conceptual influence of the ideology of “late Stalinism” on Soviet historiography, the books-laureates of the Stalin Prize are analyzed. The monograph is written on a wide range of published and unpublished sources, many of which are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.
