Americans Want to Hope Again: Trump Builds a Wall and New Generation Tears it Down

by Dave Masko

Americans Want to Hope Again, by Dave Masko. Change is in the air for freedom loving Americans in 2018 who believe “equality” is the air we breathe. For millions of Americans who condemn the Republicans in control of Congress for enabling Donald Trump’s odious mode of authoritarian governing, there are young statesmen like Representative Joseph P. Kennedy III who doesn’t need to utter Trump’s name when rebuking GOP-styled “hatred and supremacy.” Kennedy looked and sounded presidential; while being half of Trump’s age and yet “so bright, so smart, so passionate,” explained 81-year-old mother and grandmother Helen Narayan after watching Kennedy’s recent Jan. 30, 2018 official Democratic Party response to Trump’s negative toned State of the Union speech that offered pained immigrants as loathsome and inferior. Narayan adds: “I back this young Joe Kennedy who at 37 is the same age as my grandson Bill, and that’s fine because America needs youth with bold ideas and not horrible old rich men like Trump who seems to hate all that’s good and pure in this life.” In fact, Kennedy reminded Americans in his State of the Union response that Trump and Republicans have a record that is “a rebuke of our highest American ideal; the belief that we are all worthy, we are all equal and we all count.” The young Kennedy, whose grandfather was Robert F. Kennedy and his great-uncles were President John F. Kennedy and Senator Edward M. Kennedy, also spoke in Spanish in his repose to Trumpism with his message for “Dreamers” being uplifting and positive. “You are a part of our story,” Kennedy said. “We will fight for you. We will not walk away.” Because Trump’s evil presidency is all about spreading lies and dissent, there is a deep yearning in America today, said 81-year-old senior Helen Narayan, for the likes of Joe Kennedy and others of his generation to spread love’s light in the wake of Trump’s lies and broken promises to our working class.” Narayan, who participated in the 2018 Women’s March, the historic Woman’s March on Washington, the People’s Climate March and ongoing Impeach Trump protests here in the Pacific Northwest, thinks it’s clear that “Trump, and the Republicans who support this horrid human being, want to rip way the social safety nets, such as health care and Medicare, so as to give more of these insane big tax breaks to the giant corporations and fellow millionaires and billionaires because Trump’s real economic policy to make America great again is all about driving more racial hate so that these evil old white men can enjoy another Gilded Age when they rule America like kings.” After this first year of Trump’s odious presidency and the resulting American depression and drifting, there is real hope with the likes of Representative Joe Kennedy and other young male and female lawmakers who still value American values and democracy. Thus, this special “new journalism” report is a celebration of “real” Americans who believe in duty, honor and country while never being unkind to anyone.
