Tales of the sea: A love story told in verse

by Astrid Brown

This collection of poetry is split into two sections:

In “TALES OF THE SEA ~ A LOVE STORY IN VERSE” I have used the analogy of the sea to describe a love story. It really does not matter if the characters are somewhat strange, the emotions felt are just the same.

The rest of this collection “A PORTRAIT OF LOVE” comprises of mainly love and inspirational poetry, much of which I channel from Spirit, exploring all aspects of love. Many too explore the philosophy of life and are designed to uplift and challenge the reader into looking at life and love from a different point of view.

I have written these verses from the heart and I hope they will touch yours

Tears Wept and a Promise Kept: Poetry From The Heart

by James Wraieth

I must admit this is the hardest thing I’ve ever published. Not because of the words, but because of what they mean to me. Many of these poems was written during very low points in my life. Times that I felt like there was no relief from the pain.

I found that relief in writing these words, and though the very thought of sharing them terrifies me. I also sincerely hope that in some small way, they bring you as a reader comfort as well.

Verses Versus Empire: II – The Obama Era

by Abdiel LeRoy

How Obama Made Trump Possible!

Confused? You should be! Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace in 2009 before going on to kill record numbers in drone strikes and oversee unprecedented levels of deportation and whisteblower prosecution.

What to make of it? What to make of him?! Abdiel LeRoy charts an epic course through the inferno of U.S. politics, while exposing the follies and fraud of Empire.

Yet his verses are rendered with such wit and inventive force that the reader is entertained, rather than overwhelmed, and backed by deeply researched historical record that will inspire progressive forces at this critical time for Humanity.

In the age-old contention between prophets and rulers, score one for the prophets, and witness that the pen really is mightier than the sword!

So, come readers, come fall in Love with Krishna.

Sunshine to Sunshine, each syllable, each burst of light, a note of the heart
Orchestrated by the Flautist, the years of our life His sheet music.
The tryst with divinity, what began as a futile, endless search,
But eventually reaching a crescendo, converging with the intrinsic being,
With the images speaking and the words flowing into optical manifestations,
A conscious awareness illumining the truth that the divinity so sought after
Lay in that quintessential word â?? Me.

What Is American Haiku? American Haiku is a genre of micropoetry recognized by writer Melissa Balin, to address the thousands of short poems previously categorized as “improper haiku”. American Haiku are inspired by the Japanese Haiku, containing a seasonal reference to being fully present, while juxtaposing multiple meanings regarding the nature of a person, place, thing, or concept, within the discipline of seventeen syllables. American Haiku may contain punctuation, symbols, hashtags, and may or may not rhyme. American Haiku rarely holds up to the rigorous standards of traditional haiku, however it is enjoyed as stand-alone poetry and has carved its own niche over the generations.

Melissa Balin is an international filmmaker, activist, and an American Haikuist, working to bring a sense of wonder and celebration with each new day.
