The Stone Man and Other Weird Tales

by Micah Castle

“A fast-paced read filled with nightmarish visions, Micah Castle’s The Stone Man and Other Weird Tales grabs you with the first tale and doesn’t let you go until the last. I can only imagine what ghastly creations this author has in store next.” â?? Josh Hancock, Horror Novel Reviews

A summary of each story:

The Stone Man â?? While hiking, a professor of geology stumbles upon a stack of stones in the Woodell River. Drawn in by their queer structure and out of place location, he’s pulled in and doesn’t leave the same. He soon discovers their creator, The Stone Man, and why he builds the strange structures. But what he finds out is more than just a man in the wilderness, so much more.

Three Unseen Hours â?? A husband enticed by the night life stays out too late, discovering that what the people said in the Briswich County Psychiatric Institute were true… For the Unseen leave the sea after three o’clock.

Hugo The Clown â?? A story of a child performer who is in the last steps of his plans to escape the suburbs, and the world. Through a hellish passageway in his cellar, he will be able to cross over from his reality, to theirs.

Death Toll â?? What happens when a driver is stuck in summer traffic, and finds that the Death Toll Sign is no longer adding deaths, but subtracting them?

The Shadow on the Belfry â?? A husband who enjoys looking out over Woodell each morning. He loves the sunken gabled roofs under the early fog, the mountainous backdrop, and the feeling of the crisp chill on his skin. But one morning, masked in the vapor, he discovers something not from his small town, nor from his planet.

The Dark Butler â?? Someone buys a home, discovering that an entity cleans it for him. Dishes, washing clothes, and chores altogether become a thing of the past. But what happens when his curiosity gets the best of him? What happens when all he cares about is knowing what, or who, does these things? Doors, floors, and walls are torn out in his pursuit of The Dark Butler.

Once Haunted â?? He’s a writer from the Woodell Gazette, specializing in haunted houses. Every October, he pens “The Haunted Review,” an article rating haunts throughout the town and state. A coworker tips him off about a new haunt opening up in town in an unexpected location, and he finds it only opens once a year, on Halloween. Once Haunted is the one haunted house he wished he hadn’t stepped foot in.

Fright Feast III

by Brian James Lane

You’ve walked for countless hours, trying to find a way out of this nightmare. It’s hopeless, you realize. You’ve walked all night, and now light emerges in the eastern sky. A strange foggy haze surrounds you, swirling tendrils of morning mist serving to remind you that all is not well – even with the sunrise.

Your appetite returns again, corralling your eyes towards a diner set in the shadows of an alleyway. A stained menu is tacked to the glass with yellowed tape. Compelled inside, you open the door and a bell rings faintly above you. The grease is as palpable as the foreboding presence within, coating every inch of the chrome and vinyl covered decor.

Either it is too early, or this place leaves a lot to be desired. You are the only patron. A haggard looking chef calls to someone in the back of the place. “Customer!” he barks.

Calling this place a greasy spoon would be an insult to run-down diners everywhere. You don’t want to know what crawls in the corners, let alone what goes on in the kitchen. Thirteen more creepy calamities are yours to consume. Breakfast black and blue plate specials include:

Two sheep farmers in rural England fight to protect their livelihood from a monster prowling the Bodmin Moors

On the eve of the 20th century a wedding party plans to celebrate with a toast over the house wine until one guest refuses, offering a ghastly explanation

The ghost of a young boy killed in an annual leaf burning tradition haunts anyone who crosses his smoky path

A surly one-legged waitress hobbles over to take your order. Her peg leg clomps angrily on the floor as she approaches. “What’ll it be, mac?” She asks
You swallow and try to speak. “I’ll just have the special.” You say with a shaky voice.

The waitress grunts and walks away. Sunlight shines in rectangular patterns on the floor. Dust glows from the beams, floating around lazily like lightning bugs on a summer’s eve. The bell rings again, and you turn to see who just came in. The door closes as the bell chimes ominously. Nobody is there.

The Hours

by Robert Barnard

In the quiet suburb of East Violet, New York, something horrible has happened. A virus is on the loose, leaving nothing but death and destruction in its wake.

Those who are infected transform into bloodthirsty monsters. Those who are spared are left to fend for their lives in a nightmarish hellscape.

For the residents of East Violet, it appears that the world outside their front door is ending. When panic sets in and society starts to crumble, the seconds feel like minutes, and the minutes feel like HOURS.

Praise for THE HOURS:

“A grizzly, gory shock fest.”

“Reads like the novelization of an 80’s zombie film from another dimension.”

“A nightmare ride, from the first blood-soaked pages to its finish.”

THE HOURS contains two full-length novels: HOUR 23 and HOUR 24: ALL THAT’S LEFT. It is recommended for mature readers.
