The Great Learning (Unabridged)

by Confucius

This carefully crafted ebook: “The Great Learning (Unabridged)” is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. The philosophy of Confucius emphasized personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity. His followers competed successfully with many other schools during the Hundred Schools of Thought era only to be suppressed in favor of the Legalists during the Qin Dynasty. Following the victory of Han over Chu after the collapse of Qin, Confucius’s thoughts received official sanction and were further developed into a system known as Confucianism. Confucius is traditionally credited with having authored or edited many of the Chinese classic texts including all of the Five Classics, but modern scholars are cautious of attributing specific assertions to Confucius himself. Aphorisms concerning his teachings were compiled in the Analects, but only many years after his death. Confucius’s principles had a basis in common Chinese tradition and belief. He championed strong family loyalty, ancestor worship, respect of elders by their children of husbands by their wives. He also recommended family as a basis for ideal government. He espoused the well-known principle “Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself”, an early version of the Golden Rule. Confucius (551-479 BC) was a Chinese teacher, editor, politician, and philosopher of the Spring and Autumn period of Chinese history.

Die heilige Familie: Kritik der kritischen Kritik gegen Bruno Bauer und Konsorten (German Edition)

by Karl Marx

The God Debate – Dawkins in Denial: A guided tour of an atheist wilderness

by Terry Higham

A unique and fascinating book, ‘The God Debate – Dawkins in Denial’ contains a wealth of hard information rarely presented in books of this nature and brings together in one place multiple reasons for belief in a personal God (theism) and for Christian faith. It exposes the bias, incoherence, aversion to evidence, and superficiality of militant atheists like Richard Dawkins and his key allies, and addresses vital questions we all ponder at some stage in life: â??Is there a God?’, â??Does he really care about us?’, â??What happens to us when we die?’
The book covers the usual topics we expect to find in books upholding theism from a Christian viewpoint, including the philosophical case for God’s existence, science’s full compatibility with belief in God, morality’s need of a theistic foundation, and the rationality of Christianity’s most basic claims, such as the reliability of the gospels, the resurrection and divinity of Jesus, and the need for faith. But it also does justice to topics rarely discussed in such books, such as scientific evidence for modern miracles and an afterlife, the social and personal consequences of excluding God from our lives, the sanctity of life, and the shameful track record of militant atheists in government.
The author is a research-minded Catholic layman with a feel for what intrigues non-academic believers and unbelievers alike. Whilst his main target is Richard Dawkins’ bestseller ‘The God Delusion’, his critique includes other well known champions of atheism and topics Dawkins’ book largely ignores.
