The Lions of Gwynedd (I): Rise

by David Pilling

“Hail Llywelyn, Prince of Wales!”

1246 AD. The land of Gwynedd, North Wales, is under threat from the King of England. For centuries Gwynedd has resisted the might of the English, throwing back one invading army after another. Now King Henry, the latest would-be conqueror, has marshalled all his forces to finally break the Welsh to his will.

Prince Dafydd, ruler of Gwynedd, is a dying man. Unable to lead his warriors in person, he puts his trust in his young nephew, Llywelyn ap Gruffudd. As the king’s armies advance into North Wales, burning and slaughtering all in their path, Llywelyn must lead the host of Gwynedd in a desperate effort to save their homeland. All the while he must cope with the treachery of his own brothers, who seek to topple Llywelyn and seize power for themselves.

The Lions of Gwynedd (I): Rise chronicles the rise to power of Llywelyn, Prince of Wales and one of the most remarkable and dynamic figures of the era. His lifelong struggle for an independent Wales, against a backdrop of bloody battles, constant betrayal and lethal court politics, gave rise to the deathless legend of Llywelyn the Last. This is his story.

A Tropical Frontier: The Last Caloosa

by Tim Robinson

(Rating: PG-13) The Thirteenth novel in the “Tropical Frontier” series, The Last Caloosa is, in addition, the Third and final novel in the “Indian Fighter” sub-series.

The proverbial fork in the road: which path to follow? Bridges burned. No turning back. One can never know to where a single, momentary decision might lead, whether it be to a good place, or to a very, very bad place, indeed, to the gates of Hell themselves.

Q – What is The Prometheus Saga?

A – In the Prometheus Saga 2, ten authors unite to interpret how an alien presence would interact with the human condition over a time period that spans from the dawn of man to the present. The stories cross genres and genders, allowing for entirely different narratives and insights on historical events and the human experience.

Q – Where should a reader start when selecting a short story to read in The Prometheus Saga?

A – Each story is self-contained and can be read in any order. The reader is free to select any of the stories at random to begin their experience. The book description will explain the premise for each particular story.

Q – What is this alien probe?

An alien civilization landed a probe on Earth at the dawn of mankind. This probe, a form of artificial intelligence, can morph into any human form, take on any human identity, either male or female. Its life spans hundreds of thousands of years. Its mission is to report everything it can about us to its home planet. What this humanoid observes and learns over centuries of human existence will be interpreted through each short story in the saga. The alien probe is as mythic as Prometheus, the Greek Titan who was said to have brought fire to mankind.
