Steve Jobs is not just â??the Man Behind the Bitten Apple’ logo that we all know so well, he is the founder of the world’s first TRILLION ($1,000,000,000,000) dollar company.

He is more than an ordinary man; he is, himself, a legend.

During his time on earth, his contribution towards the betterment of mankind was far more than what most people realize, or understand.

His ideas on aesthetics and his insistence on simplifying came from his natural ability to focus on the necessary and eject the rest. He understood the human condition and excelled at extracting the best for them and the best from them.

As all great men before him, and surely after him, he was misunderstood in many ways. From the reasons for his temperament to his ability to convert thought to action, and action into product.

This book takes you into the life of Steve Jobs more than just the events that happened in his life – but the workings of his mind as he handled those events and how me constantly moved forward with singular purpose and discipline of thought.

There are many areas of his life that seem familiar to us because we experience similar things. We have the same concerns, the same worries, the same reasons to laugh, and the same reasons to cry, but Steve shows us the way to keep moving forward and to make this a better place in every way possible.

This book takes you on a journey of discovery – what you will find at the end of it is a better understanding of a man that did things very differently given the same set of circumstances we all experience in one way or another – and he took those circumstances and made them work – not just for him, but for the world around him as well.

Help! My Serotonin is Stuck: Essays About the Life of an Atypical Middle-Aged Man

by Gary Larkin

Living as a birth child in a foster family…being a survivor of the 9/11 terrorist attack in New York City…using sports fandom as a coping mechanism..having a brother with undiagnosed bipolar disorder…describing and getting to the bottom of a nervous breakdown. These are the subjects of five essays written by the author, Gary Larkin, a former journalist and researcher, about key parts of his life. It is meant to be a memoir of a birth child from Long Island, NY, who had a revelation about the meaning of his life after he suffered nervous breakdown on his way to work one day. Through several years of psychotherapy, he realized how much his upbringing in a diverse and troubled foster family affected the person he became. From becoming a newspaper journalist to being a NY Mets fan, the author pieces together two separate incidents in his life with familial relationships that molded him as a person.

The five essays depict the author as the “oldest” brother in a family of children who didn’t earn respect based on their age or talents. It was about a matter of survival in a 1970s-1980s family that was built on the lies and sins of parents who were not typical. Those lies and sins led to more lies and sins that forever affected the lives of children who became adults far too soon.

This memoir of essays is a snapshot of the author’s life that he developed following a spate of panic attacks that changed him and yet prepared him for the death of his mother a year later. The author expects to write another series of essays that will round out his memoir.

That Same Ten Dollars: Stories of Sexual Exploitation in St. Louis Public Schools (Me Too Book 1)

by Crystal Washington

This book describes the many instances of sexual exploitation inside of St. Louis Public Schools. A teacher details reporting sexual misconduct of adults that went ignored by administration and the school board. Solutions are suggested that will provide safety for vulnerable students. The Author has taught at 11 at-risk failing schools and describes countless incidents of sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse of underage students. The schools where these incidents occurred range from elementary to high schools.

Students and staff reported sex-trafficking, prostitution and sexual abuse which at times happened right inside of the school building. Administration covered up and supported predators who were family and friend of theirs. Students were encouraged to engage in sexual activity. These incidents were daily significant violations that became part of the school culture. Students were exposed to immoral staff, harassment and exploitation all throughout the day.

These book was written to alarm parents and other stakeholders to the criminal activity that are inside of schools because the institutions choose to hide this culture because they fear being shut down. There are millions of dollars involved in every school building that exists in America. Many parents are not aware of the extent of these exploitations.

The first school that is mentioned in the book is located in a community filled with strip clubs! This school also gave citizens who were found hanging in the streets, jobs as a means to increase employment in Illinois. These adults preyed upon the students because they grew up in a culture of sex in their neighborhoods. These adults would make sexual explicit comments right in front of the teacher. Administrators and Board Members were aware of the culture but chose to blame the victims because they were family and/or friends. The teacher receives death threats for intervening.

Towards the end of the book, the teacher accounts experiences with attempting to report sexual harassment and sexual assault of a 2nd grade student by fellow students along with an incident involving a security officer and a kindergartner. In both cases, administrators fell to inquire about her complaints and at times discouraged her from filing an incident report.

The book also describes incidents in the surrounding community involving sexual exploitation and rape of young girls which police officers and elected officials fail to take the report. Surprisingly, in one incident an elected official joined in with exploiting a 13 year old girl.

The author gives solutions at the end of the book which she believes would be a step in solving the problem. This book is part of a ‘Me Too’, 3 book series. Each book includes a situation in which she filed a lawsuit against a school for reporting sexual misconduct and and was terminated and harrassed. These incidents spanned almost 2 decades and the schools are located in St. Louis Missouri and East St. Louis, Illinois. That Same Ten Dollars is the first book in the series. The other books have not been titled or released yet.

She had to kill Bob.

by Allison Lewis

An investigative look at some of the most heinous abductions and murders of the past century.
Holly Bobo had the brightest of futures. She had everything a young woman could ask for; a great circle of friends, a devoted boyfriend and a loving family. Growing up in the tiny town of Darden, Tennessee, she was involved in church where she sang like an angel every Sunday. She was the first cousin of country singer Whitney Duncan so the talent for entertainment was in the genes. But the blonde girl with the angelic smile wanted to serve people first hand so she enrolled in the nursing program at the University of Tennessee. Up until April 13th, 2011, the 20 year old’s life could not be better
On April 13th, 2011, everything changed.
On March 1, 1932, Charles Lindbergh Jr. was taken from his bedroom, killed, and dumped in some nearby woods. All without anyone inside the house hearing a single peep. It was a case that griped the entire nation, and baffled many for years.

Although one man was charged and executed for the crime, well into the 21st century many still doubt he acted alone. While many modern investigators continue to try to piece the events of that eventful night together to discover the truth, whether we will ever know truly what happened that evening remains to be seen.

The crime would touch a fear lurking in every parent: somehow, without warning or reason, their child would be taken from them. Never to return.

This is what happened that night…
Ariel Castro kidnapped and imprisoned three girls between the years 2003-2013. He kept all three captive in his house on a residential street in Cleveland, Ohio where he raped and tortured them. Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus were held until May 6, 2013. Berry escaped with her six-year-old daughter and was able to call the police. The other girls were rescued, and Castro was arrested within a matter of hours.
The story of Bobby Greenlease is that of a tragedy. This young boy was taken from the one place a child should always feel safe; a school. The heart of the collective world was shattered while witnessing the terrible, sickening events that were unfolding. Only monsters could do such terrible things. Who would do this? How could someone stoop to this level? Most importantly, why would someone resort to this? In 1950’s rural America, crimes like this just didn’t happen. The turmoil that would ensue after this horrible act is one of confusion, betrayal, and heart sinking results. An innocent boy was gone much too soon, and two senseless criminals were gone much too late.
The McKay kidnapping is one of Britain’s most notorious cases of kidnap and, perhaps, murder. The story itself is interesting enough- it involves mistaken identity, lords and ladies, newspaper magnates and mystery. But the story of how two brothers were punished for the crime, despite a body not having been found (and not ever found to this day), is what sets this case apart.
