Extinction (2101 Chronicles)

by Edward Riepe

Extinction is the first book of a seven book series. It is a dark story of young siblings who have been robbed of their family life, their parents, their country and their future by a surprise alien invasion of the planet in the year 2091. The aliens did not eat and run, they ate just about everything that moved and heavily colonized the Earth the next ten years. Most, if not all of the armies of Earth nations were consumed the first month of the invasion. Young men and women able to breed were placed in corporate and Empire food mills so the harvest of humans, which was a prized delicacy worth a hundred times more than the creatures named cow, pig, dog or cat, could continue. The breeding program for humans was proving to be a very successful enterprise making some Larutan companies wealthy.
The earthlings who had managed to reach the North Caves of the Smoky Mountains during the first two weeks of the invasion were the only free humans left on the planet. Blocking the large entrances to the caves and arming the remaining citizens they had managed to barely survive the onslaught. Still, life was very tough.
After ten years of cave dwelling and starving having only meager food with spring water, one of the young men decided to leave the security of the cave network and go looking for his father’s workshop. After three days of dangerous foot travel through the Smoky Mountains he finally found the hidden base built by his father years before the alien invasion began. He knew for some reason deep in his soul that he would find help in his fathers workshop. What he didn’t know.
Inside the workshop he discovered a machine that would begin to turn the table on the invaders. The machine was once designed for recreational purposes, but with a lot of imagination and creative engineering the old man had transformed the vehicle into a deadly machine of war. This was also a machine with a distinct personality programmed into her artificial intelligence download in her computer.
This gave the young man a reason to live. From that point on, all he wanted to do was kill the alien invaders which he did efficiently for five long years with no one else helping in his crusade.
Then one day, maybe by the grace of God or maybe by the long removed father, an event occurred that set off a series of other events to the point that no one could have ever foresaw or controlled. Especially the unwanted visitors from another world.
It was soon clear that the siblings were along for the wild ride whether they wanted to go or not. The die had been cast.
From beyond the grave their eccentric father and grandfather reunited the family using artificial intelligence downloaded into a sky bike to start a resistance movement against the invaders ten years after their arrival. A resistance movement comprised of Harley Davidson sky cycles, lasers, computers, nanocells, painful sacrifice and the will of the separate family members to get even with the hated enemy. The survival of mankind will ultimately rest with these three individuals. The question is would one or all of them live or die trying.

Metanid Convergence

by Kyle Yamada

Cassie is a revolutionary teen hacker on the run from an app that killed her parents. Her neural implant gives her extraordinary powers to fight back in the virtual space of the Veldt, but it may also be the cause of her social awkwardness, especially when it comes to boys.

Now the only person Cassie can trust is Edward Gage, her estranged grandfather who’s handy with literature and history but completely useless with anything related to technology.

Together, Cassie and Gage must take on the most powerful of the metanids, bargain hunting machines that entice humans to join their membership ranks only to enslave them. To survive, granddaughter and grandfather must rely on each other’s strengths but also push beyond their own limitations. In the process, they will uncover startling revelations about Jeffrey, the father and son that they lost. But can they solve the riddles he left behind quickly enough to save themselvesâ??and possibly humanity?

Fast-paced and thought provoking, Metanid Convergence is a sci-fi thriller that explores a world in which humans have delegated the most important decisions in life to machines. Ironically, the only way to take back control may be to plunge even deeper into the technological abyss.

IU-137 is a prequel – a short novella, added to Amazon on July 31st 2015. The synthetic human is really brought to life in Crank Tech One: DESTRUCTION, a full novel. I’ve written this novella, so you can get a feel for the robot before reading the main book. Crank Tech One, has been out since 2013 and is a very popular sci-fi adventure. But I’ve always felt that I should explain where Crank originally came from.
The story continues…Crank Tech One: DESTRUCTION.
