COGNITIVE MATRIX OF LIFE: A SIMPLIFIED LIFE COACHING FRAMEWORK

by Jacinto Rosas

In a simplified way, we try to describe the different elements or facets of an individual’s life experience, and we classify them under one of three lexical constructs, namely, meaning of life, personal transformation, and context of life.

â??Meaning of life’ is a lexical construct closely connected with the technical concept of psychological orientation, and having a strong temporal orientation. And so, in the â??Future’ facet, the â??Meaning of life’ can be defined as that giving us a sense of direction and purpose in life, what we have to do with our life. In the â??Present’ face, the â??Meaning of life’ can be defined as that providing us with self-definition, time structuring, and emotional stability, among others. While in the â??Past’ facet, the meaning of life can be defined as that represented by our life’s milestones.
Moreover, â??Personal transformation’ is a lexical construct referring to a learning process that might enable us changing for good things like our personality, the content of our thinking, our level of personal insight, or our level of education.
Meanwhile, â??Context of life’ is an umbrella term for all those aspects of our life, which are important or essential but do not represent the meaning of our life. These are, for instance, the functional tasks that are part of our domestic lifestyle, our job or business, our performance in facets of life like personal finances, personal health, or time structuring, our basic needs, our state of emotionality, among others.
