Rum and Cola for the Survivor’s Soul: A Study of the Book of Luke

by Cindy Felkel

“Religion sucks with the suckiest of suckiness, but Jesus is AMAZINGLY awesome and he accepts you.” That is the message Cindy Felkel has for people who have lived through trauma, abuse, and struggles. They are not victims. They are survivors – and they have a special place in God’s heart.
This is not your typical Christian book about the Bible. Cindy is brutally and comically honest about her own struggles with being a Christian. She shares compelling stories from twenty years of working with homeless people, migrant workers, “at-risk” youth, strippers, and other survivors. She relates these stories to the survivors Jesus embraced in the book of Luke. These stories will draw you in and make you want to know more about this Jesus.
Rum and Cola for the Survivor’s Soul encourages survivors to rest in God’s love and acceptance of them. It also encourages believers to be better at modeling this love.

The 100 Most Powerful Prayers for Misbehaving

by Toby Peterson

Give a Gift That Will Change Your Life Forever.

Give Yourself or Someone You Love, The Gift of Prayer

You will not achieve fulfillment and happiness until you allow God to be the architect of your reality. Imagine that with a few moments each day, you could begin the powerful transformation toward complete control of your own life and well being through prayer.

You will be able to release all fear and doubt simply because you know that God gives you the strength. You can utilize this simple, proven technique to regain the lost comforts of joy, love, and fulfillment in your life.

God’s gift of life is too short to be exhausted on thousands of everyday anxieties and fears. Sadly, the average person will get to the end of their life and realize that more than half of it was spent struggling with these kinds of problems. Because they didn’t know what to do, many of these people never found any satisfaction in life. You can and will become bigger than those struggles by enhancing the positive energy that God already has flowing within you.

You are exactly who you think you are, and it’s up to you to create those thoughts and manifest them as God’s creation. No more lack of faith, motivation, and feelings of doubt in your life. No person can find happiness in an environment beyond his or her control. But you can get up, get out, and take control with God.

Prayer starts by creating a cycle of continuous prayers. You must believe and repeat these declarations and prayers each day. If the thoughts and ideas that we affirm are not true in reality, a dynamic tension is created between your perceived reality and your psyche. This presence of dynamic tension causes imbalance between your psyche and perceived reality. Your consciousness will work to get back in tune with God’s vision of the universe to resolve the tension. There are two simple ways to ease this tension. You must work with God’s creation in order to make your declarations become true, or you must stop the prayer. As you choose to continue praying, your mind and body will seek to balance this inequality with the universe by transforming your environment to match your declarations of truth. Sooner than later, you will find yourself taking positive and decisive action that you never imagined possible as your perceptions naturally align with your true reality.

By utilizing prayer you are training your consciousness to work in tandem with God’s natural flow of creative energy. This is how we are naturally designed to function as happy, healthy beings. Unfortunately, the complexity man’s modern world has made it more difficult to find the natural creative harmony that God placed inside of each of us. Negative thinking goes against God’s intended order of the universe and will unravel along with those who produce it. We are all meant to be bottomless vessels full of God’s refreshing life and energy. Through prayer you will learn to be constantly over-filled with energy from God that soaks into the world and the people around you.

If you want to see positive change now, you’ll find the quickest path to fulfillment with prayer through God’s love. There is no time to spend on loss, negativity, and defeat when you can be achieving tangible, historically proven results with minimum time and effort invested.

There is no limit to changes that God can make in your life through the power of creating truth with prayerâ?¦

by Emma Maas

Download for FREE with Kindle Unlimited
Hannah Miller is deeply broken and she knows it. But even worse, she doesn’t care. She blames God for taking her husband and has since lost her way in both her faith, and her community. But life must go on, and to support herself she makes and mends quilts for the Amish and Englishers alike. Living alone in an apartment above her shop, she works only to live and seemingly not much else as she feels the need to almost punish herself, and God, at the same time.

But all that changes when Levi, himself a widow, comes into her shop to mend an old quilt as a surprise for his daughter’s first child. He’s immediately taken with Hannah. And as his job is repair and fixing broken things in his workshop, his trained eye spots a few problems around her home that could use some neighborly help. But his heart spots some problems, too.

Yet Hannah doesn’t want the help, or the attention.

She resists, but Levi won’t take no for an answer. He repeatedly shows up to work on things, trying to slowly chip away at her gruff exterior and win a smile, if not a friend. But Hannah is comfortable in her pain. She certainly has no time for friendships, let alone love.

Yet God, and Levi, just might have other plans.

Can two people find what they need in the other, when they both need it the most? A desire to mend against a desire to harbor old pains. Will love win out, in this sweet Amish Romance? Read this new book by Emma Maas to find out today…

North and South

by Elizabeth Gaskell

North and South is a novel by Elizabeth Gaskell, first published in book form in 1855 originally appeared as a twenty-two-part weekly serial from September 1854 through January 1855 in the magazine Household Words, edited by Charles Dickens. The title indicates a major theme of the book: the contrast between the way of life in the industrial north of England and the wealthier south, although it was only under pressure from her publishers that Gaskell changed the title from its original, Margaret Hale.

The book is a social novel that tries to show the industrial North and its conflicts in the mid-19th century as seen by an outsider, a socially sensitive lady from the South. The heroine of the story, Margaret Hale, is the daughter of a Nonconformist minister who moves to the fictional industrial town of Milton after leaving the Church of England. The town is modeled after Manchester, where Gaskell lived as the wife of a Unitarian minister. Gaskell herself worked among the poor and knew at first hand the misery of the industrial areas.

Lost Identity

by J Allen Reed

When the three men got closer they could tell it was the body of a man, but he showed no signs of life. His face was a terrible mess; it was completely covered with blood and rock from the road. The Rev. Smith knelt down and put his right hand to the side of the man’s bloody neck, just below his jaw bone, held it there for a while, and then looked up, and said, “He has a pulse. It’s real weak, but he’s still alive.”

Uncommon Relations

by J Allen Reed

Sue was sure the preacher could see the tears as they started to roll down over her cheeks. When she was a child, Sue was taught not to cry, but tonight she found she could not help herself. She had been thinking all week about Christopher’s murder and what was going to happen to her, and which direction her life would be going. Sue looked at the preacher for a short moment, and then said, “I may just be that person you have been expecting.” Every one was looking at her now in complete silence. The Lord had let this man, the preacher, look into the depths of Sue’s heart, and know how troubled she had been over the things that had happened in her life. Could she have truly been the person the Lord spoke to him about? A moving, suspenseful story about redemption, forgiveness, and the promises of God.

THE MAGIC OF BELIEVING: The secret behind The Secret

by Tony M. Canepa

Happiness and abundance begin in your interior and you must go through them, it is an interior journey to which I invite you. Best of all, it’s free and will only take a few minutes a day in exercise and twenty-four hours in attitude. The more prosperous and fulfilled you think you are, even with autosuggestion, the better you will vibrate (we are energy) and attract to you similar energies. The energy of faith in victory will bring you victory in that very specific area in which you set out to succeed. The more concrete your goal is (not only to be a millionaire but to receive twenty thousand dollars a month in the real estate business, e. g.), the closer you will be to it, because the mind does not accept indefinite or scattered or, perhaps, changing goals. If you have clarity, vibrate in expansion and let the universe work for you. In weeks you’ll meet miracles.

Deleting Jesus: Recovering Discipleship in the Wake of 2016

by Brent David Miller

That’s Not Jesus!

If you ask people what a â??Christian’ is, you may well be met with a list of troublesome words like bigoted, fearful, and hypocritical, to name but a few. Too many Christians have cultivated this image for too long. The situation was hardly improved by the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election, when many supposed Jesus followers made a Faustian bargain for power in exchange for their reputations and souls. The result has been to confuse people further as to both who Christians are and who Jesus is. This book is a cry to a confused world that those who have created such a state of affairs do not represent the real Jesus.

Deleting Jesus is an examination of both who Jesus is and what he asked his followers to be. Through a study of the words and actions of Jesus, the witness of the New Testament, and the writings of early Christians, pastor and author Brent David Miller contrasts the Christianity of the early Church with the counterfeit version so prevalent today, and issues a call to follow the radical and loving way of Christ. In this book you will discover the teachings of Jesus and the early Church on such topics as power, politics, enemy love, war, the proper use of wealth, the treatment of refugees and immigrants, racism, and the life of discipleship. Whether you are a believer stuck in the trenches of American pop Christianity, or a non-believer who is turned off by the antics of the so-called Christians around you, prepare to have your perspective rocked. Prepare to discover the real Jesus.

Brent David Miller is the author of Grace at the Threshold: Reflections on Salvation, Hope, and the Love of God, and Royal Mistakes: Life Lessons from Some Seriously Messed Up Judean Kings.
