JIBU And His Artist Friend (1)

by Suny Ken

The funny, perky, and naughty orange monkey named Jibu was sitting on his tree, staring at the sunset.
While looking through his binoculars, he spots a turtle drawing on the sand right below his tree, Viewowa. Yes, he did in fact name a tree. His tree.

Jibu was in awe by Mr. Turtle’s art. They planned on opening a tattoo stall in a carnival. Sadly, Mr. Turtle couldn’t make out colors 🙁

But, don’t worry! Jibu, the super monkey, comes to the rescue! Just kidding- he wasn’t a superhero.

Unfortunately. Jibu did help though. Instead of superpowers, he uses his creativity and comes up with a unique and I should say a little weird solution. He uses his edible paint box, naming it Paint Platter. This wound up making the tattoo stall a huge success!

Mr. Turtle was beyond animated by what Jibu did to help him. Hurray to Jibu’s awesomeness!

Curious to see what Jibu did to help Mr. Turtle? Read Jibu’s joyful personality and follow his adventure with Mr. Turtle through this book!

The Science of Seasons (A Guest Hollow Guide)

by Jennifer Guest

Join Abigail, Henry, Grace, and their lively Fox Terrier, Beowulf, as they learn about the seasons in this lavishly illustrated, Christian-friendly science book! Kids will learn about the seasons in different parts of the world, solstices, equinoxes, and a myriad of other topics brought together in a way to draw in both strong and reluctant readers!

There are fun comics to read, celebrations in other parts of the world to learn about, and even yummy recipes to commemorate each season.

Although The Science of Seasons teaches material that even many adults may not know, it presents this material in novel ways using situations that most children can easily identify with. Instead of presenting facts as coma-inducing abstractions, The Science of Seasons illustrates concepts in ways that are easily absorbed and readily understood by young minds. Concrete examples make science memorable and help build retention.

After kids are done with the storybook, they can delve into an exciting companion resource. The Science of Seasons Learn-and-Play Activities book is stuffed with over 125 pages of engaging things to learn and do that expand on the topics in The Science of Seasons. Kids can bring to life the lessons they are learning with character cutouts and playsets, fill out the make your own comic templates, and create a globe of the earth for fun experiments and much more! Far more than a typical activity book, The Science of Seasons Learn-and-Play Activities contains a highly varied assortment of cross-curricular lessons and projects, which will engage children on many different levels.

From the author, Jennifer Guest:

I feel there is a great need for wholesome, fun, Christian-friendly books on a variety of integrated topics. My books are evolution-neutral, feature kids who dress modestly, and the relationship between siblings is loving, but realistic. I’ve created books I would feel good handing to my own children. My characters are respectful to their parents and readers don’t have to worry about the all too pervasive societal pressure creeping into my stories. At the same time, I want children’s eyes opened to the larger world around them, by introducing other cultures and moving beyond the boundaries of the United States. God has made an amazing world and I want kids to see that in my books. I strive to present characters that are innocent, intelligent and inquisitive.

While my books are God honoring, I don’t think they are preachy, and families who aren’t Christian can still benefit from the solid science concepts, information about other cultures and a fun story with interesting activities.

I hope your family loves learning and playing together with Abigail, Henry, Grace and Beowulf!

6th Grade Revengers, Book 1: Cat Crimes and Wannabes

by Steven Whibley

WELCOME to the REVENGERS. Prepare to see after-school employment in a whole new light!

Jared and Marcus aren’t like other 11-year-olds…they’re also Revengers. They fix problems and they’re awesome at it-at least, they will be if they ever get a chance to show off their skills. What they need is exposure. Luckily, they have the perfect target in mind: Jared’s sister’s boyfriend. He’s a jerky, wannabe rock star, a relentless bully and he smells like old gym socks.

Enough is enough. The tone deaf jerk’s days are numbered. There’s only one hitch: Marcus already offered their services elsewhere. A stray cat with serious aggression issues apparently has a whole neighborhood boarding up their windows. What the boys think will be an easy-money job quickly turns into a dangerous game of wits. The cat’s a monster. It takes all the ingenuity the boys can muster to deal with this beast.

Two targets at once. It’s time to prove themselves as the awesome after-school problem-solvers they know they are. That is, if their plan doesn’t backfire. Because they’ll either be feared fixers or a couple kids who can’t even take out a kitten.

A hilarious middle grade novel packed with action and adventure. Cat Crimes and Wannabes is a fun, fast-paced read for kids aged 9 to 12. Fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Captain Underpants and the I Survived series are sure to enjoy this new series by Steven Whibley

If Students Ran the School

by Christopher Holley

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubDFW7j4hj0

What? Students in charge of the school!
Whoever came up with such a ridiculous idea!

Actually, as author Chris Holley delves inside the minds of today’s students, we find there is a huge amount of creativity and fun to be had! The kids are indeed ruling the school!

What fun do they have? Is Math still on the agenda? What with DJ’s dubbing, and teachers disappearing, there is clearly a NEW curriculum in place!

Ideal for the 6-10 age range, the story lends itself to the option of being a play, or an introduction to poetry and rhyme.

With 28 beautifully illustrated pages, your students and all kids will love the ideas. More likely than not, they’ll come up with their own to add to the list! Teachers beware!

This is a story full of whimsy and fun for kids of all ages. A playful picture book that reminds us not to take life to seriously and allow children to be in charge for a change (even if it’s only in their imaginations).
