Below are phrases that people use every day. They are useful phrases that’ll also help your knowledge of English grow.

    Patient Malpractice: Degenerative Retinoschisis

    by luis acevedo

This is the only book in the world that immediately after the second paragraph, puts you in position to save your life or at least your vision by alerting you about a disease that is easily misdiagnosed by THREE or more retina experts and results in an unnecessary catastrophic surgical intervention that can leave you blind for no reason at all.

Have you ever heard about Degenerative Retinoschisis? I know your answer is NO.

    Now read from Wikipedia:
    “Degenerative Retinoschisis
This type of Retinoschisis is very common with a prevalence of up to 7 percent in normal persons. It can easily be confused with retinal detachment by the non-expert observer and in difficult cases even the expert may have difficulty differentiating the two. Such differentiation is important since retinal detachment almost always requires treatment while retinoschisis never itself requires treatment and leads to retinal detachment (and hence to visual loss) only occasionally. Unfortunately, one still sees cases of uncomplicated retinoschisis treated by laser retinopexy or cryopexy in an attempt to stop its progression towards the macula. Such treatments are not only ineffective but unnecessarily risk complications.”

Read from an article I posted to my non-profit website
“Confusion of the retinoschisis elevation with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment does occur and results in unnecessary laser or surgical intervention”.

I had this disease and consented to what I was told was a “Retinal Detachment” until I read my medical records and realized that my human rights, my human dignity, my freedom, my right of patient autonomy, my right to informed consent was violated as the doctor for almost three years never mentioned to me the word RETINOSCHISIS and therefore my decision was not an INFORMED decision.

It is perfectly legal for a doctor to write your diagnosis to the medical records and not disclose it to you verbally. If you never request your medical records, you never know about your disease, and if the condition is hereditary you have also put your children at risk.

If, like it happened to me, you cannot stop a surgery you don’t need because you have not checked your medical records to know your diagnosis, since writing diagnosis and not telling the patient is not MEDICAL MALPRACTICE you have been the victim of your own PATIENT MALPRACTICE.

Not reading your medical records is Patient Malpractice
Not seeking for a second opinion is Patient Malpractice
Not applying the LOGGIC principle of the informed consent is Patient Malpractice
Not being an e-patient is Patient Malpractice

Let me ask you this question: do you know the purpose of the informed consent to surgery?
your answer most likely will be: “That is to protect the doctor”.
Wrong!!!! . That is to protect YOU. But the way you are doing it you are only protecting the doctor.

I invented the LOGGIC model to ensure a patient’s fully informed consent:

L Listen to the doctor’s diagnosis, procedure, risks, alternatives and benefits.
O Obtain a copy of your medical records and compare to what you were told.
G Google the diagnosis, procedure, risks, alternatives, benefits, and post-op expectations.
G Get a second opinion with some better expert.
I Information is validated and certified.
    C Consent is legally signed.

I never “listened” because I was never told about Retinoschisis and I never “Obtained” my medical records to discover that the doctor was withholding important information for my informed decision making.

Writing important information to the medical records and not telling the patient is DOCTOR CRIME PRACTICE and yet, it is legal.

Read inside how your PATIENT MALPRACTICE allows a doctor to get away with his DOCTOR CRIME PRACTICE,

Sustainability, Human Well-Being, and the Future of Education

    by Justin W. Cook

This open access book explores the key dimensions of a future education system designed to enable individuals, schools, and communities to achieve the twin twenty-first century challenges of sustainability and human well-being. For much of the twentieth century, Western education systems prepared students to enter the workforce, contribute to society and succeed in relatively predictable contexts. Today, people are at the controls of the planetâ??making decisions that are dramatically reshaping social, economic, and environmental systems at a global scale. What is education’s purpose in this new reality? What and how must we learn now? The volatility and uncertainty caused by digitalization, globalization, and climate change weave a common backdrop through each chapter. Using case studies drawn from Finland and the US, chapter authors explore various aspects of learning and education system design through the lenses of sustainability and human well-being to evaluate how our understanding and practice of education must transform. Using their scholarly research and experience as practitioners, the authors propose new approaches to preparing learners for a new frontier of the human experience fraught with risks but full of opportunity.

When To Take Risk: Indicators that shows if taking a risk is safe or not

    by Marcus Osaz

Life is full of risk but most of us have repeatedly made a lot of mistakes trying to take those risks. This is a perfect guide to help you when next you want to take a risk and who knows, the next time might be in an hour.

    by Umberto Piacquadio

The English astronomer Sir Arthur Eddington must have jumped when, on May 29, 1919, intent on observing a total eclipse of the sun, he discovered that the man, who four years earlier had published the controversial theory of General Relativity, he was right.
Albert Einstein, one of the most famous physicists in history, whose career as a great scientist began in 1905 when, by a half-known employee of the patent office in Bern, he published his first two articles on Restricted Relativity.
It is without too many scientific claims that I am going to introduce the reader to the Theory of Relativity Restricted and General which is the theme of this work which however can not be fully grasped without the fundamental mathematical and physical skills that are learned in a high school.
With an innovative approach compared to many other educational treatises on the subject, which often neglect the mathematical aspects necessary for a correct understanding of the phenomenon, I will try to deal with the issues, so as to understand mainly the concepts, through rigorous mathematical demonstrations or ‘aid of graphs and diagrams.
After a brief but indispensable historical and biographical introduction on Albert Einstein I paid particular attention to the thought of Relativity already present in Galileo’s observations and I exposed the fundamental works of James Clerk Maxwell, Albert Abraham Michelson, Edward Morley, and Hendrik Antoon Lorentz to reach to the absolutely innovative idea postulated by the Theory of Special Relativity. Once immersed in the new theory, in the second chapter, I analyzed analytically the concepts on the dilation of the times and the contraction of the distances until the solution of the always fascinating paradoxes. Subsequently, the present work focuses on the mass-energy duality (E = mc2) and gravitational mass-inertial mass. There is no lack of “mental experiments” and the use of the Minkowsky diagram in order to better understand the effects of the theory. In the discussion on General Relativity, the themes of the four-dimensional space-time curvature will be addressed, the exposure of the famous Einstein Field Equations, the Gravitational Redshift, the Deflection of Light, the Precession of the Perielion of Mercury and the Gravitational Waves.
In conclusion, we can not forget that Albert Einstein, besides being a famous physicist, is very active in various fields of culture becoming one of the most important thinkers of the last century for whom the most cited and curious aphorisms of the illustrious interlude between chapters and paragraphs.
I thank all those who have been close to me during the writing of this paper and with the hope of having set up the work so that it can be useful to all those who approach the study of the fascinating Theory of Relativity I am grateful to now who will want to propose improvements or any suggestions.
