Late Whistle, A Basketball Fairy Tale

by Charlie d’Estries

When I was a little kid, I loved basketball. I remember I use to pretend I was at the foul line, crowds cheering, no time left on the clock (always), and a chance to win the NCAA championship game; I won a lot of championships that way. If you have that kind of imagination, you’ll love this story.

Take 7 little boys, an old coach, some rough times and tough love, and you have the elements of an interesting story. The boys became the best high school basketball team in the country, all highly recruited for big-time basketball colleges, but the streets of a big city got them into trouble. None of them went to college to follow their dreams, several went to prison. The coach moved to a small D-1 school to coach at the college level. But when, 20 years later, their old coach was given an ultimatum, the boys, now men pushing 40, decide to help him out and play for him. To save his job, they must reach the NCAA tournament â?? no small feat for this ragtag bunch â?? but once again the ugly memories of their youth reappear. Do they make it to the NCAA tournament? And if they do, how far do they go?

If you like a good yarn, this one is worth reading. The story unfolds slowly, like the flavors of a good bourbon, but patience is well rewarded. Please let me know your thoughts at… and thanks for reading my story. Charlie d’Estries

Air & space: The mig 17 mystique

by Josef Henry

NESTLED AMONG the pre-1920 aircraft
at the Smithsonian National Air and
Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy
Center are two recent arrivals, donated
by the late Javier Arango. Unlike their
heavy metal neighbors, they’re small,
fabric-covered airplanes from 100 years
ago and more. Each is an icon of early
flightâ??a Blériot XI, from the years
before World War I; and a Sopwith

fighter of the war.
Arango, a scholar of World War I
aviation, had amassed one of the
world’s finest collections. A board
member and donor to the Museum, he
had recently sponsored its World War I
centennial programs, including an art
exhibit, concerts, family days, and a
film festival. Arango died last April. His
final gifts to the American people were

the first loop. It was the primary trainer
of French pilots in World War I.
But the Blériot that Arango donated
is not just any Blériot. It’s known as
the VanDersarl Blériot, named for the
two brothers from Colorado who built
it between 1909 and 1911. It’s a flying
time capsule from a unique period
in early aviation. “[It represents]
that next level of people below the

Author’s Note:
An Unexpected Treasure, Marrying a Marshal Book One is a PG-rated Western Romance short story of about seventy-five pages with plenty of Old West action and romance. There will be three more stories to follow this one, each of about 150 pages long, so if you like this one, and I’m sure you will, there’ll be some longer books to follow!

This is also part of the Hero Hearts series which is a larger multi-author series about men who love, honor, and protect their families, all while having faith in God! Brought to you by Annie Boone, Kate Cambridge, Terri Grace, Misty Shae, Cat McGill, Hayley Wescott, and Natalie Dean! Enjoy!

First Impressions: Firefighter Inspirational Contemporary Romance (Hero Hearts Contemporary)

by Hayley Wescott

Chance meetings. Unfair judgments. Accepting defeat. Does love stand a chance in the middle of all this?

Samantha Rowell had the job she’d wanted since her teen years. She loved books and being a librarian was her dream job. What would be boring for most, made Sammie feel like she was where she was meant to be. Though she knew she didn’t need a man to complete her life, she had to admit that Mr. July in a local calendar was a sight to behold. That being said, she felt certain any man who’d pose for a calendar was self-absorbed and couldn’t share her wholesome Christian values.

Blake Patterson had moved to the small town of Pine Ridge, Georgia to join the fire department after he left the army. He needed a change, but wanted to still be able to do a job he believed in. When his sister talked him into posing for the calendar sponsored by her employer, he thought nobody would ever know. He’d been very wrong.

When these two opposites meet, there’s immediate attraction. He can’t get her out of his mind. She can’t trust him to be the guy she was hoping he’d be. When they realize they’re not really so different, will it be too late to build on the love that was starting to bud?

She knew they needed a fresh start. But what about her father? The shell of a man who almost never spent any time with them because he was always working would be alone if she left him behind. She didn’t have the heart for that.

Harrison Tanner wasn’t the typical Montana ranch owner. He wasn’t insensitive or callous. In fact, he longed for a wife and a houseful of children. He wanted companionship and he wanted love. He wasn’t too macho to admit any of that. He was truly a nice man. He was eager to meet Josie and Rose and accepting of her father, Ross, when it was determined that he and Josie would marry.

From the beginning, Josie and Harrison seemed like a perfect match. As individuals, they were happier than they’d ever been. It all seemed too good to be true to Josie. And for Harrison, too.

How could everything go so bad so quickly? Harrison was tolerating more than his share of growing pains and Josie felt very guilty. Was there a way to make this blended family work? Or would Josie be forced to take her niece and her father and go back to New York?

The Coming Church

by John Burton

I had an encounter that left me shaken and shocked.

What I saw was clearly a picture of the churchâ?¦clearly in my spirit, that is, because my intellect was confounded. It didn’t make sense.

In my encounter, the vision I saw was shocking and quite mysterious. I have had many visions of the Church, of reformation, but this one was markedly different. It sure didn’t look like a vision of the Church, but it immediately felt like one.

I was standing in an apocalyptic looking environment. It was dark and weighty. In front of me was an absolutely massive, burning crater. God immediately revealed to me that I was looking at the soon coming Church.

Biblical Entrepreneurs: Practical Business Insights: Short Stories

by Jonathan Perles

Business Inspiration from biblical entrepreneurs, particularly Joseph. The patriarchs of the Old Testament were Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The traditions of monotheism and business ideas have been passed down from generation to generation, culminating in thousands of years of tried principals that have often asked: What can we learn from the patriarchs? The answers to that question can ultimately have a positive affect on our business approach.

Reasoned mathematics for quick mental calculation (Loving and learning useful math Book 1)

by Manuel Carsini

Mathematics has always accompanied man in his life, and accompanies him even more so today, not only every time an arithmetic calculation is needed, but also in consideration of the manifestations of the surrounding nature, which often use well-defined mathematical schemes to form and develop.

Quick mental calculation algorithms are useful tools to simplify some calculations using “mathematical tricks”, “shortcuts”, which are based both on simple reasoning and application of basic properties of arithmetic, and on more or less complex methodologies to speed up the execution of the calculations avoiding being forced to execute them on sheets of paper.

By way of example, calculating the square of the number 63 in mind can be quite easy by simply calculating the square of 60 and summing the fixed number 9 and six times the number 60, i.e. simply calculating the sum 3600+360+9, obtaining, in this way, the result 3969. Nothing, therefore, that cannot be calculated quickly in mind, even without a particular mental training.

Another typical, very significant example is the fast mental calculation of the square of the numbers ending in the number 5, such as the number 85; well, the result will be simply equal to the concatenation of the multiplication between the number that precedes the number 5 and its following number and the fixed number 25, that is it will be equal to 8×9 concatenated with 25, that is equal to 7225.

This small guide deals with cases such as those just exposed and aims to provide the reader with many simple and detailed examples of application of quick mental calculations, focusing attention, in particular, on the squares of numbers and on the multiplication of numbers. Along with mental training techniques, you can thus have an extra gear that, if nothing else, is a starting point to get closer to the magnificent world of mathematics starting from useful and partly fun concepts of simple understanding.

In this situation, Vedic math, of which one often hears about, is very useful for making very fast multiplications, in mind, between particular numbers and it is for this reason that, sometimes, maybe a little improperly, one talks about the magic of mathematics or mental tricks for calculation.

Data Science for Beginners and Layman: (2019)

by Narendra Mohan Mittal

Who this book is written for

We presume that the data scientists reading this book are knowledgeable about data science, common machine learning methods, and popular data science tools, and have in the course of their work run proof of concept studies, and built prototypes. We offer a book that introduces advanced techniques and methods for building data science solutions to this audience, showing them how to construct commercial grade data products for layman and beginners.

The Big Data Science Ecosystem

As a data scientist, you’ll no doubt be very familiar with handling files and processing perhaps even large amounts of data. However, as I’m sure you will agree, doing anything more than a simple analysis over a single type of data requires a method of organizing and cataloging data so that it can be managed effectively.

Perspectives on Data Science from a Developer

In this introductory chapter, I’ll start the conversation by attempting to answer a few fundamental questions that will hopefully provide context and clarity for the rest of this book:
* What is data science and why it’s on the rise
* Why is data science here to stay
* Why do developers need to get involved in data science

Inside the Book

1. Perspectives on Data Science from a Developer
2. Data Science Applications Formats and Terms
3. Machine learning applied to Data Science
4. Machine Learning Algorithms
5. Agility, Machine Learning, and Analytics
6. Using Neural Networks in Data Science
7. Deep Learning Opportunity
8. New Research and Future Directions
9. Why Data Scientists use Machine Learning
10. Unsupervised Learning – Clustering and Dimensionality Reduction
11. Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval
12. Industrial Applications of Machine Learning and Data Science

Why is Data Science on the rise?

There are multiple factors involved in the meteoric rise of data science.
First, the amount of data being collected keeps growing at an exponential rate. According to recent market research from the IBM Marketing Cloud something like 2.5 quintillion bytes are created every day (to give you an idea of how big that is, that’s 2.5 billion of billion bytes), but yet only a tiny fraction of this data is ever analyzed, leaving tons of missed opportunities on the table.

Second, we’re in the midst of a cognitive revolution that started a few years ago; almost every industry is jumping on the AI bandwagon, which includes natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning.

**Even though these fields existed for a long time,** they have recently enjoyed the renewed attention to the point that they are now among the most popular courses in colleges as well as getting the lion’s share of open source activities.

And In the last chapter discussed machine learning analytics in detail. It broadly discussed the uses, applications, challenges, and use cases of machine learning analytics in areas like manufacturing, retail, marketing, sales, banking, and finance.

Graph Models for Deep Learning: An Executive Review of Hot Technology (Executive Reviews Book 1)

by Stephen Donald Huff

This course provides a detailed executive-level review of contemporary topics in graph modeling theory with specific focus on Deep Learning theoretical concepts and practical applications. The ideal student is a technology professional with a basic working knowledge of statistical methods.

Upon completion of this review, the student should acquire improved ability to discriminate, differentiate and conceptualize appropriate implementations of application-specific (â??traditional’ or â??rule-based’) methods versus deep learning methods of statistical analyses and data modeling. Additionally, the student should acquire improved general understanding of graph models as deep learning concepts with specific focus on state-of-the-art awareness of deep learning applications within the fields of character recognition, natural language processing and computer vision. Optionally, the provided code base will inform the interested student regarding basic implementation of these models in Keras using Python (targeting TensorFlow, Theano or Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit).

As an â??executive review’, this text presents a distillation of essential information without the clutter of formulae, charts, graphs, references and footnotes. Thus, the student will not have a â??textbook’ experience (or expense) while reviewing its contents. Instead, the student will quickly pass through a surprising wealth of actionable, easily-digestible technological information without the distraction of extemporaneous considerations.

Programando Multitarefa na prática: Utilizando a linguagem C/C++, freeRTOS e Arduino (Portuguese Edition)

by Max Back

WILL TRUMP SUCCEED?: Will USA succeed under presidency of Donald Trump?

by Justin Affleck

The human rights and humanitarian programs of the U.S. Department of State and the Agency for International Development are hated by many conservatives because some of the programs support women’s rights and healthcare, education for girls, the empowerment of women, voter rights, and freedom of speech. These are not ideas supported by the conservative despots in the United States. This book provides a record of those programs as they were before the Republicans took office in January 2017. We will see how long the programs survive. Trump has already banned NGOs from talking about abortion.

The Tragedy is the Commons

by Brian Phillips

Since Roman times, it has been held that certain resources, such as air and water, could not and should not be privately owned, but instead held “in common.” Today, “the commons” movement seeks to destroy private property rights by equating air and water with such man-made values as the Internet and the electrical grid. This booklet examines the ideas behind “the commons” and demonstrates how property rights can be applied to air and water.

The series of books is intended to establish a dialogue between parent and child on vital issues, which the parent may often not be fully comfortable discussing with their child. For the Children: Rhythm: A Pattern to Your Days

by AnnaLouisa Alberi

A rhythm to your days, weeks, and seasons will bring harmony to your home and make your family’s time together more relaxed and fun. It is something that can be made specifically to fit your lifestyle, yet follows certain guidelines to get established. The busier your days, the more you and your children will benefit from a rhythm that uniquely fits your family.
At first, it may seem that a rhythm is just a routine or schedule, but it is not. When you design a rhythm, you establish times in your days and weeks that your child can count on. Using the things that they do every day such as brush their teeth, eat meals, play, and get dressed, you create a pattern to their days that contains variety within a repeated structure.
Things happen in a certain way every day, like a story time that is anticipated with delight, as your child is getting ready for bed. When your children can count on the rhythm of their days, knowing what to expect and what will come next, they will be less stressed and easier to manage. A lot of the apparent misbehavior that little ones exhibit is only a manifestation of anxiety, caused by an overwhelmingly hectic schedule and from having too many choices. Rhythm brings the security of predictability and a more relaxed child, which means a happier family home life.

The Wolf with No Shoes is My Narcissist Husband

by Laura Turner

The Wolf with No Shoes is My Narcissist Husband is a true story of Laura’s journey into her dysfunctional marriage to Ryan Turner.

Laura is a recovering co-dependent; she has an emotionally neglected childhood that had her starved of affection all her life. In retrospect, she was conditioned to be a people pleaser. It was no surprise that when she met Ryan online, she wanted to help Ryan to get away from his depressive situation and help to nurse him on his fading health. Laura was willing to sacrifice everything to help Ryan to the road of recovery, in order for Ryan to shower her with affection and validate his love for her.

Little did Laura know that Ryan has many dark secrets, hidden agendas, and confusing past. From the moment they met, Ryan already vetted Laura to become his next victim to fill his narcissist supply. Ryan was extremely manipulative and drained Laura emotionally to the point that her sense of reality has been corrupted.

At the time Laura knew nothing about Narcissistic Personality Disorder or what a â??covert narcissist’ was. She had no idea there were people out there who could manipulate others in such terrible ways in order to get what they wanted. And because of this, she didn’t see any of the many red flags that kept popping up during their subsequent relationship.

Covert narcissism is a difficult personality trait to prove, as to the outside world these narcissists appear to be the most generous and kind-hearted people you will ever meet. No one knows they have a hidden agenda until it is too late, and that is exactly what happened to Laura.

Ryan took her money, her life, and her sense of self, distorting her vision of reality until she’d reached rock bottom. Ryan manipulated her and tried to turn the ones she loved against her.

Laura wanted to write this book to expose how covert narcissists think and work and how co-dependents see things differently in an unbalanced, unhealthy relationship. Laura wanted to help others who may be in similar situations. If they can learn to identify the red flags early on in their relationship, they might be able to avoid a fate like hers.
