All the World’s Birds 2019 : A Companion Guide – PART THREE: SANDGROUSE to OWLS (All the World’s Birds 2019: A Companion Guide – PART-BY-PART Book 3)

by Charles R Stubbs

The understanding of bird species and how they are grouped into families has changed rapidly since the introduction of DNA analysis. So much so that it is difficult to keep up with all the newly identified species and revisions to interrelationships of families.

The aim of this eBook, which is one of a series that together provide a Companion Guide to all the world’s bird species, is to help birders and bird lovers gain a better appreciation of these changes.

Use this eBook to explore and to improve your knowledge of birds from the comfort of your home. Take your reading device with you when you go away on birding trips, and connect it to the internet for quick access to information about each species whenever you need it.

Throughout the series of Companion Guides, of which this current guide forms a part, the English names and scientific names of birds are derived from The IOC World Bird List, an open access resource maintained by the International Ornithological Congress (IOC). At the time of publication of this guide the IOC bird list is hosted on a dedicated World Bird Names website, which provides access to the list in various different formats.

The IOC bird list is updated semiannually. The version of the IOC bird list that is used in the current version of this guide is Version 8.2, published July 2018.

Gill, F & D Donsker (Eds). 2018. IOC World Bird List (v 8.2). doi : 10.14344/IOC.ML.8.2.

The IOC bird list has been divided into 12 parts. Each eBook in the PART-BY-PART series of Companion Guides covers the non-extinct species that appear within one part of the list. Parts 1 to 5 of the IOC bird list include all the world’s Non-Passerine species. Parts 6 to 12 cover the Passerines.

This eBook deals with the Non-Passerine species that appear in PART THREE: Sandgrouse to Owls

Other eBooks in the ALL THE WORLD’S BIRDS series concentrate on the birds that are regularly present in a particular world region. The first two available books in the WORLD REGIONS series are:

All the World’s Birds 2019: A Companion Guide
OCEANS
WESTERN PALEARCTIC

A third series (the â??Focus on’ series) looks in more detail at a geographical region of the world, examining which birds are regularly present in various parts of the region.

Lastly, a fourth series of ATWB Companion Guides presents a set of interactive checklists of regularly occurring species for local areas where birdwatchers are likely to be visiting. The first two available titles in this series are:
All the World’s Birds 2019: Interactive Checklist
SRI LANKA
SOUTH-WEST INDIA

To see all the currently available titles in the â??All the World’s Birds’ series, search in the Books section of your local Amazon site for ATWB.

This ATWB Companion Guide has a number of important features, including:
– A complete taxonomic listing of bird species
– An indication of where in the world each bird family and species can be found in its native state
– Region lists, with indications of restricted ranges within regions
– Spotlighted species that have a restricted worldwide range

The key feature of all eBooks in the Companion Guide series is the way you can quickly and simply access relevant, up to date online information about every featured bird species. If your reading device is connected to the internet, a single click will take you to a search results page for a species, from where you can continue to search for additional information to whatever level of detail you desire.

Complementary & Alternative Therapies for Pain: Your guide to over 50 treatments for pain relief

by Barbara McLullich

Offers a practical guide and up to date information on the more commonly used treatments. It has chapters for each specific therapy and explore the benefits of each therapy. Easy information on how complimentary therapies affect/help in health and pain.
Why I wrote this book…
If, like me, you find that some alternative treatments can help with your pain, albeit through
a placebo effect, then this book may be of interest to you.
Back pain affects 80% of the population at some point in their lives.
Mine started in my late Twenties, with extremely debilitating low back pain. Treatment in
the first years consisted of physiotherapy and manipulation by an osteopath and
chiropractor, but eventually surgery was the only option.
After undergoing four major spinal operations with numerous complications which
included a life-threatening episode, you begin to realise that time is a gift. Many a day I’ve
felt despair, rage and profound disappointment that I could not do certain jobs. My life has
changed so much over the years that I can hardly believe it.
I was also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (an incurable, painful condition which manifests
itself in fatigue, insomnia, stiffness, IBS and pain throughout the body) and I realised that
something had to be done when, after manically tidying up my house, I felt bereft at the
lack of mess to clear up. Time was the key – how I used it and with whom I spent it became
very important to me. So I decided to write this book in my quest to find an alternative/
complementary therapy that can help with my pain.
Although I have tried many types of treatment, mainly for my back pain, I have not actually
had every treatment listed in this book.
