History of Tom Jones, a Foundling (Complete Edition)

by Henry Fielding

This eBook has been formatted to the highest digital standards and adjusted for readability on all devices. Tom Jones or, The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling is a comic novel by English playwright and novelist Henry Fielding. It is both a Bildungsroman and a picaresque novel. It was first published on 28 February 1749 in London, and is among the earliest English prose works to be classified as a novel. It is the earliest novel mentioned by W. Somerset Maugham in his 1948 book Great Novelists and Their Novels among the ten best novels of the world. The novel is highly organized, despite its length. Samuel Taylor Coleridge argued that it has one of the “three most perfect plots ever planned.” Tom Jones is generally regarded as Fielding’s greatest book and as a very influential English novel.

Duct Tape is Flammable: & Other Life Lessons from a Car Guy

by Zachary Dillinger

Most everyone has a car story or two, and Zachary Dillinger has more than his fair share. Having experienced both great loss and great triumph at a young age, Zachary takes stock of his life and recalls the humorous family and personal automotive stories that helped shaped him into the man he is today. Stories like the time his father Bill destroyed his pickup while tearing down the family house… and then forgot about the bees, his mother Judi’s possessed Volkswagen and its penchant for attempted murder, the family minivan careening out of control down a mountain in Georgia, and Zach’s own automotive love affair with his first sports car. The humorous stories each pass on a larger lesson and contribute to a greater message: that ultimately, while possessions may come and go, our memories can stay with us as long as we continue to tell the stories. Inspired by the work of Robert Pirsig, this self-deprecating, deeply funny, and emotional book tells a story of life, love, and loss… something that everyone can relate to.

The LOST EPISODES: Curb Your Enthusiasm

by John Miller

Impatient fans waiting for the next season of the HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm (which may never come), can celebrate. The authors invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy their alternative:
The LOST Episodes (Shouldaâ?¦.Couldaâ?¦.Woulda been) Curb Your Enthusiasm – Volume 1

Assigned to nightshift work, commuting thousands of miles to and from Los Angeles each week AND working for the World’s WORST Boss, the authors found a creative outlet by turning their surreal and bizarre adventures into a hilarious, side-splitting series of sitcom episodes that became the basis for this book. While sipping coffee at street side cafes in Santa Monica and driving up and down the Pacific Coast Highway in cheap rental cars, they collected enormous amounts of hysterical material. During their time deployed in LA, and after hundreds of incredibly funny experiences and conversations, numerous people suggested they write their material down and get it to a Hollywood agent, or better yet, Larry David. Read about the countless inspirations, the deceit, the broken promises and their strange-but-true adventures.
The sitcom episodes in this book mimic the style of the HBO comedy series, Curb Your Enthusiasm. These â??Lost’ episodes are not so much â??Lost’, but more accurately, â??Never Found’. The Lost Episodes – Volume 1 is a compilation of 10 complete script-outlines and the backstory describing how each script came to be. Fresh, outrageous, offensive and addictive, The Lost Episodes will grab you from the start and keep you entertained to the very last page. You won’t be able to put this one down!

Mindscape RPG

by Matthew Kowalski

In a world torn by its own, hate.
The nightmare that once was shall be no more.
On that, fair night when the anger spilled over humanity was lost.
It was not to be found until the reconstitution of the planet.
Yet it would never be as it once was.
It would forever be tainted by the nuclear twilight.

Humanities passions ignorance and unwillingness to get along, forced
the world into a terror.
It was a M.A.D world on that night.
The world was destroyed when all of our nuclear weapons went off at the same moment.
At that point, something very odd occurred the worlds state changed.
The world that we know unravelled to become the world that we know now.

The world turned in upon itself.
In addition, the world passed into a new dimension, one that is regulated by the rules of the will.
The planet is now ten times the size that it once was the moon of our old earth is no longer circular; it is semi circular and mottled with craters, accompanied with dust rings travelling around it.
Every thing in the world has far more contrast than it once had.
The blues are bluer; the danger is ever present in this brave new world.

Technology barely exists and where it does exist, it exists in almost alien form.

People have started to reorganize themselves after the fall of the old world.
It seems as though many of the cycles that once occurred are occurring again.
People have created coalitions amongst themselves, these are the clans.
These clans find themselves with inner turmoil sometimes from within sometimes from without.

They are often found fighting amongst there tribes as the Native Americans, and tribes from the north once did.

Yet even though all of this is true, it may just be a new chance for an even greater man in the world of the mindscape.

Things That Make Me Nuts (The Bergman Essay Collection Book 1)

by Annette Bergman

Every woman faces little aggravations and irritations throughout the day, and sometimes there’s nothing that can be done other than accept them or explode. Sometimes, though, there is a third optionâ?¦and that is to find humor in the situations.
Things That Make Me Nuts – Book 1 of The Bergman Essay Collection – candidly addresses some of these everyday irritants with the humor we frequently overlook.

For instanceâ?¦

Why is it so hard to find a bra that doesn’t bind, pinch or hurt? And why are they not hung conveniently inside the dressing room so that women don’t have to dress and undress 30 times to go back into the store to find one that fits? Do men have the same trouble finding a comfortable pair of shorts?

Why has toilet paper in public restrooms become so thin and ribbon-like that it takes twice as much to do the same job the old paper did?

Have you ever tried to have a meaningful conversation with your husband only to discover the most meaningful thought he has to share is “The corn crop is better this year.”

If your neighbor’s tree drops half its leave in your yard, who’s responsible for picking them up?

If you open your bathroom door and find your husband powdering his unmentionables with your expensive bath powder and favorite fluffy powder puff, would you be able to use it again?

“Annette Bergman’s Things That Make Me Nuts is a poignant and humor-filled romp through that everyday thing we call life. Each essay touches your heart with a universal knowing because you, too, have been there done that and it’s also made you nuts. At times simple and humorous, and at times profound but still humorous, her collection leaves you looking forward to the next installment. Annette Bergman not only “gets” life, she lives it without losing the joy and meaning of each quirky moment and the many opportunities they give us to laugh-out-loud.” — D. D. Scott, International Bestselling Author

“If you’re looking for a funny book by a funny author, then look no further. Annette Bergman has written a “laugh out loud” book that will keep you burning the midnight oil. Just when you think her stories can’t get any funnier, they do. Readers of all ages will identify with Annette’s observations of life.” — John Riddle, Founder of I Love To Write Day

“Annette Bergman’s incredible ability to find the humor in irritating situations and describe an empty conversation with astounding sensitivity makes this book the perfect gift for every mature woman.” — Othello Bach, Author

“Surely you’ve been there: face to face with that thing that grates on your nerves the most, that thing that drives you crazy, and you’re forced to deal with it. Annette Bergman has been there, and judging from Things That Make Me Nuts, she’s been there more than once.

Some universal and some unique, Annette’s collection of irritating idiosyncrasies and incidents will have you doubled over in laughter when you’re not clenching your jaw in agreement. You’d be nuts not to read Nuts.” — Derek Fisher, Sportswriter

Annette Bergman is a mother of four, grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of five who splits her time between Indiana and Florida. A native of a small barrier island, she was raised in that uniquely Southern style which so often lends itself to frank — and humorous — observation. Now retired after a 30-year plus career as a REALTOR, Annette spends the bulk of her time writing, a passion she discovered while still selling homes. That passion has already led to one book, “Return to Tybee”, and the publication of several humorous newspaper columns. In addition to that accomplishment, in 1991 Annette sewed the first official flag of her hometown, Tybee Island, Georgia. Her talents also led to the creation of nine designs for the Simplicity Pattern Company, which were published in the company’s book “Casual Cut-Ups”. In her free time she enjoys gardening.

Darbyshire: Welcome to the Jungle

by Maverick Alexander

Greetings from Darbyshire, a town where some wacky and offensive characters live and interact. This is the first book of the series, and introduces a handful of characters in stories where they have limited contact with one another, although they all live in the fictitious city of Darbyshire. Darbyshire: Welcome to the Jungle is Maverick Alexander’s first title, and opens up the living, breathing world of his wild imagination.

With which character will you identify most? Could it be the bold Brett Whiskers, or possibly the brash Raven, Damien? What if you’re more of a fan of The gym owner Banana Fingers, or the scholarly badger, George Monocle?

Will you be grossly offended, and lose your ability to self-regulate, or will you enjoy the humor and wit of these wildly entertaining tales? We follow this motley crew through a wide range of experiences, as the stories are told in a politically incorrect, fantastical fashion.

These stories are fictional, satirical, purposefully hyperbolic, and not meant to be taken too seriously. This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places and incidents either are products of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. Any resemblance to actual events or locales or persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental.

Everyday Ordinary: (Mostly) True Confessions of Marriage, Shoe Shopping and How I Keep Losing the Mother of the Year Award

by Kat Groshong

“So, my life, it’s different than I planned. It’s not saving lives in hospitals or flying through space or overturning rocks to expose social injustices or jetting off to romantic getaways, most of the time. It’s really a string of bad hair days spent in yoga pants, endless laundry and housework, cooking and cleaning, constant mediation between my-crazy-full-of-life-and-energy children, time-outs, homework, carpool, runny noses, doctors’ appointments, committee meetings, client phone calls, emails, texts, early mornings, late nights, all the while trying to get everyone to work, school, and church on time, fed and in clean clothes. It’s a balancing act of tremendous proportion, the attempt to maintain some semblance of sanity, piety, and well-being. Truthfully, most days are quite routine, quite ordinaryâ?¦”

Life doesn’t always turn out as planned. It really doesn’t. From marrying a crazy-haired musician-turned pastor to packing school lunches, shopping for shoes, burning dinner, and cyberstalking her neighbor, author Kat Groshong shares how her plans were turned upside down and a little sideways from the plans of her youth. And even though her plans changed, God is always at work, in both the big moments and the seemingly small, insignificant moments, too. Through her whimsical and conversational confessions, Kat reveals there’s laughter, there’s beauty, inspiration and encouragement, meaning and significance in even the most ordinary life.

by Erik Goldsmith

“All that created possibility, hope and fear and everything in between stood before him and he did what anyone would do.
He set it on fire.”

This collection features stories about the loss of the internal world and the inability to understand why that’s important. Hilarious.

From a reality TV obsessed girl playing herself in the latest drama to a future where irony has taken a turn for the better, each one plunges headlong into the sardonic and bizarre. These five stories illustrate the world’s most intimate problem and those who can cope with the monster, and those who cannot.

In Tinker’s case, he believes he’s found a new kind of math. One that could answer the age-old question:

How many headaches equal a rape?

When you are trapped within an insane logic, following the rules only makes it worse.

Questo incipit, probabilmente il più popolare al mondo, basta da solo a farmi riflettere su una cosa che salta agli occhi: Dio lavorava al buio!
