When the Shoe Fits…: Essays of Love, Life and Second Chances

by Mary T Wagner

2014 INDIEFAB AWARD finalist!!

Inspiration. Empowerment. Reinvention.

From soccer mom to prosecuting attorney. From body cast to the back seat of a Harley. From sneakers to stilettos. When a hard fall from a tall horse landed Mary T. Wagnerâ??then a freelance writer and a soccer mom with four young childrenâ??in a body cast for three months with a broken back, she didn’t take it as a sign to ease back on the throttle. Instead, she changed careers, went to law school, took a job prosecuting criminals, and bought her first pair of spike heels. And THEN she started writing again.

In essays ranging from “Turbo Datingâ??the Year in Review” to “Riding Pillion,” “The Limoncello Diaries” and “Angels in the Snow,” Wagner’s signature writing style combines humor, insight, and grace under pressure, and serves up the author’s signature theme that “it’s never too late to make mid-course corrections.” Whether reflecting on subjects as diverse as motherhood, the view from the back of a Harley, the impending loss of a parent or the therapeutic effects of a post-divorce bonfire, Wagner’s honest and heartfelt essays resonate with universal experiences of love, life and reinvention. A must-read for any woman who’s asked herself “is there at least one more dream I can reach for?”â?¦ and then answered “YES!!”

This is a sweet, clean and wholesome American Western Historical holiday romance where two people find love during the Christmas season. This series is filled with shenanigans, missing jingle bells and more. A Tin Star for Christmas by Cyndi Raye is book #3 in this holiday series.

The story behind the missing bells of Belle, Wyoming.
1840’s Wyoming Territory
On a wagon train heading to Oregon, Clara Brown’s husband died of Cholera, leaving her on her own. The wagon train did not allow single women to travel alone, so she is ordered to leave.

She was rescued by a trapper and they fell deeply in love, creating their own town not far from Ft. Bridger. They named the town Belle for the jingle bells that were attached to her oxen when they first met. Now, years later, each Christmas the tradition continues as the town places the bells on an ox or horse, gifting rides to remember the legacy of the founders. The bells were safely put away and only brought out each year for this purpose.

Except, this year, the bells have gone missing.

Are they ever found?
Read the five stories coming out each day starting on December 10th to find out what happened to the bells. Even some of the authors don’t know how this will end! Each story is complete with a happy ending!

Who is God?: An encouraging study of God’s nature, attributes, and transformative work in our lives

by John Stange

Many people in this world claim to believe that God exists, but if you ask them to give you specifics about what He’s like and what He does, you’re likely to be given a lot of opinions, but very little biblical evidence to back those opinions up.

God desires a deep, personal connection with His creation. He isn’t disinterested and uninvolved with what He has made. He doesn’t ultimately desire to be disconnected or distant from humanity. For these reasons, He has intentionally made Himself known to us. Creation itself testifies to His existence, but in addition to that, He has intentionally and progressively made many specifics about Himself known to us over the course of history.

At present, does God seem distant and unknowable to you? Would you like to get to know Him better or more deeply? Likewise, God has revealed Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Typically, we refer to these three Persons as the Trinity, but do we truly understand this concept?

Throughout the pages of this book, we’re going to be looking at what the Scriptures demonstrate about the divinity, unity, ministry, and relate-ability of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. At the same time, we’ll be developing a deeper understanding of His transformative work in our lives.

Christmas Jars, Snow Cones and Dimes: A Christmas Jars Short Story

by Jason F. Wright

What is the Christmas Jars tradition?

“…one by one, family members will empty their pockets and delight at the cling-clang of change hitting the empty glass bottom. Most days will yield a quarter, a dime, perhaps two nickels and a stray penny. Occasionally Mother will make change for herself by drop- ping in a worn dollar bill and pulling out an appropriate combination of cool silver coins. Over the months that follow, the gathering change will leave no recognizable void. Occasionally the temptation to borrow for laundry, a movie, or the ice-cream truck will float through the house, over the jar, and out the back door. But it never lands. The money is spoken for.” (Excerpt from Christmas Jars, copyright 2005, published by Shadow Mountain.)

Christmas Jars, a New York Times Bestselling novella by Jason Wright, first became a phenomenon during the 2005 holiday season. Readers across America reacted to the message of daily giving and sacrifice by creating their own Christmas Jars.

Today, thousands of glass jars rest on kitchen countertops, slowly collecting the spare change generated each and every day. On Christmas Eve, each jar, now overflowing with both money and goodwill, will anonymously find a new home. In turn, the grateful recipients will put the money to good use in their lives and begin their own jar. Thus hearts and lives are changed and the cycle continues.

This short story follows in the tradition and spirit of Christmas Jars. If you’ve read the original, you’ll love this sweet addition to the Christmas Jars family.

#peoplelikeus: the intro

by Shanna Star

This piece was written on 11.22.18. It wasn’t released because i didn’t have a plan set into place as I allow myself to be guided by my intuition. When I feel the need to write, I write, when I feel the need to publish, I do it. Here we are 12.18.18 at 12:28 a.m., three hours after finishing a cup of gas station coffee because i was guided to release this now. It is a brief recap (in comparison to the actual book that will soon be released) of the events that took place leading me to this point in my life. I feel it’s important to get this out due to the change that is occurring on earth currently. The vibration is being raised and we are heading towards a whole new energy and you must now make a decision to evolve or remain stuck in your current cycles. It is a testimony of undying faith even under seemingly hopeless circumstances. “I had to have faith because I didn’t have a plan.” This read focuses on the relationship cycles I had to repeat until finally learning the lessons in these cycles. There is a lesson to be learned from every situation in your life and I hope this will encourage you to learn said lessons. There are many people like me, you just have to remember who you are.

Tales From the Hand: A Soujourns Song (Tales From the Hand: A Vampires Memoir Book 2)

by Matthew Kowalski

A Soujourn’s Song
Sings us across the sea, and into the mysteries for which we must question even now; across the ages.
To the politic of the mortal core and it’s pervasive effect in the America’s.
Still the soul does sing and question.

Beautiful Angel

by David Ho

While “Beautiful Angel” has drawn comparison to other timeless, Christmas stories such as “A Christmas Carol” and “It’s a Wonderful Life” because of its themes of kindness and compassion, at its heart, it’s really a story about miracles and the powerful influence one person’s actions can have on the lives of others.

Morgan Stern, a successful yet self-centered and spiritually bankrupt business professional, lives the life she always wanted. She has money, power, and influence, all driven by her ambitious and uncompromising nature and in her world of absolutes and unyielding focus, there is no room for old friends, relationships, or any semblance of love or family.

A chance encounter with an angry homeless man one cold, December morning leaves Morgan questioning the familiarity she senses. Distracted, she steps into the path of an oncoming car and is fatally struck. Disoriented and confused, Morgan is visited by a mysterious angel, who explains how she can gain entry into the heaven only by going back and saving someone else.

Morgan agrees to this and the angel sends her back â?¦ 15 years into the past. Her past. A life that she had long-forgotten and one she had turned away from long ago. Not knowing who it is that she is meant to save, a vague, indistinct memory leads her to a gritty reality that looms close to her childhood home, a reality that she had never contemplated.

George Hornsby is a part of that reality. Is George the person she’s meant to save? How can she know for sure? With no guidance, Morgan must choose the path to her salvation. Faced with disappointment and relentless obstacles, she realizes that in order to save George she must change the hearts and minds of an entire community. In the process, she learns that the personal cost of real change is something that some are unwilling to pay.

Just as Morgan begins to believe that love, redemption, and grace are possible, her efforts begin to unravel to a devastating end. With every ounce of determination that Morgan can gather, she fights to save not only George, but others whom she’s come to love while risking her own fate.

One Little Christmas Tree

by Russell Bittner

A Christmas story — for SMART kids.

YES, there’s some symbolism. And YES, this story may require an equally smart parent to explain it. But I’d like to think the combination of a smart parent and a smart kid will get it.

Think of this story as an opportunity. Whatever your religion (or lack of one), this is a story that will challenge your child. And — in the process — challenge you.

How so? Quite simply, to uncover some of your own misgivings and equivocations, and thereby explain to your child what “life everlasting” is all about.

This is not a Christian story, a Muslim or a Jewish story. This is a simple NYC story — about a small pine tree that accompanies a big pine tree to the big city. And which then finds life and its meaning in that same big city.

We should ALL be so lucky. We should ALL find the meaning of life in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Unfortunately, we’re not pine trees — either big OR small.

Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God

by Jonathan Edwards

This eBook has been formatted to the highest digital standards and adjusted for readability on all devices. “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” combines vivid imagery of Hell with observations of the world and citations of the scripture. It is Edwards’ most famous written work, is a fitting representation of his preaching style, and is widely studied by Christians and historians, providing a glimpse into the theology of the Great Awakening of c. 1730-1755. The sermon emphasizes the belief that Hell is a real place. Edwards hoped that the imagery and language of his sermon would awaken audiences to the horrific reality that he believed awaited them should they continue without calling on Christ to be saved. The underlying point is that God has given humanity a chance to confess their sins. Edwards says that it is the mere will of God that keeps wicked men from the depths of Hell. This act of restraint has given humanity a chance to mend their ways and return to Christ.

Rural Church RESCUE: A Call to Restore Healthy Churches to Rural North America

by Jon Sanders

At first glance it may appear that the church in rural North America is thriving. Nestled just below any average small town skyline of water towers and grain elevators one will find the steeples and stained glass windows of various church buildings. From a distance it would seem that rural communities are being sufficiently served by the mere number of churches present. But a closer look within the walls of the average rural church paints a much different and disturbing picture. Many rural churches find themselves stuck in a current of decline that is ultimately leading to their death. They lack a clear understanding of their purpose. They are floundering in an absence of leadership. They possess little to no vision for how a BIG God longs to impact their small community for His eternal kingdom. And instead of embracing the changes necessary to propel them into the future, they are clinging to worn out traditions of the past.Rural Church RESCUE speaks directly to churches struggling with these issues. Speaking from his experience as both a rural church pastor and firefighter, Jon Sanders presents a unique perspective on these common problems facing the rural church. Using a metaphor drawn from the world of the fire service, Sanders outlines six principles necessary for rural churches to be healthy and reclaim the vital role God has called them to in their communities.

Remember Who You Are (The Dying Church Series Book 2)

by Anthony Andre

After his wife dies, Wesley Aames sheds his blue-chip job working for an engineering company and goes back to school to study theology. Three years later, he becomes the new minister of the New Covenant Church in Asheville, North Carolina. The church is bedeviled by financial problems, out of touch with modern technology, and vexed by a lack of purpose and confidence. In addition, the congregation remains divided over Aames’ selection as the new pastor, because many are concerned his lack of experience will hinder his leadership.

About the first book in the series, “A Good Boy:”

Andre deftly paints a portrait of spiritual crisis, and the ways in which moral judgment vitiates the call for merciful forgiveness. At its best, the story is…a philosophically meditative anatomy of the pursuit of holiness amid pain.

She never expected to care for the injured, quiet man who fell on the street of her village. Little did she know that she would begin the challenge of her life far from the security of her faith. Luke Ramsey was a hardened young man who left the East and chose the life of the cowboy, herding cattle and writing his own rules. The Alchemy of Happiness

by Ghazali

The Alchemy of Happiness was a book written by Moḥammed al-Ghazali, a Persian theologian, philosopher, and prolific Sunni Muslim author regarded as one of the greatest systematic thinkers of Islam. The Alchemy of Happiness was written towards the end of his life shortly before 499/1105. During the time before it was written the Muslim world was considered to be in a state of political as well as intellectual unrest. Al-Ghazali, noted that there were constant disputes about the role of philosophy and scholastic theology, and that Sufis became chastised for their neglect of the ritual obligations of Islam. Upon its release, the Alchemy of Happiness allowed al-Ghazali to considerably cut the tensions between the scholars and mystics. The Alchemy of Happiness emphasized importance of observing the ritual requirements of Islam, the actions that would lead to salvation, and avoidance of sin. The factor that set the Alchemy of Happiness apart from other theological works at the time was its mystical emphasis on self-discipline and asceticism.

The Ancient Art of Stoicism: An Insight into the Stoic Philosophy, Ethics, Wisdom, Virtues, and Meditation.

by Michael Davenport

Humanity has been on an unending quest to find inner peace and happiness since the dawn of time. Two components necessary for a quality life yet oh so difficult to find. It was not until the rise of Ancient Greece that we came close with the ideology of Stoicism. The Ancient Art of Stoicism: An Insight into the Stoic Philosophy, Ethics, Wisdom, and Meditation explores this timeless philosophy while adding new insights you may not have thought of.

Many of us already endure pain and hardships without articulating emotions. That stoic nature is difficult to attain, and even harder to control. The Ancient Art of Stoicism traverses back to Ancient Greece where debate saw to the rise of the greatest philosophers in history. Famous for much of the modern world’s greatest inventions and history altering dynamics, Greece is truly the foundation upon which society has been built.

The Ancient Art of Stoicism began when men learned how to focus on those aspects of life that are controllable, while tuning out those that are out of reach. A worthy edition to add to any collection, the Ancient Art of Stoicism sheds light on a subject many think they know but few understand.

Here Is What You’ll Find Insideâ?¦

  • An Introduction to Stoicism
  • A Glimpse Into the History of Stoicism
  • The Great Stoic Philosophers
  • Stoic Logic and Reason
  • Theology and Cosmology
  • Stoic Ethics and Virtues
  • Stoic Psychological Techniques

Lao Tzu : Tao Te Ching : A Book About the Way and the Power of the Way

by Lao Tzu

The Tao Te Ching is fundamental to the Taoist school of Chinese philosophy and strongly influenced other schools, such as Legalism and Neo-Confucianism. This ancient book is also central in Chinese religion, not only for Taoism but Chinese Buddhism, which when first introduced into China was largely interpreted through the use of Taoist words and concepts. Many Chinese artists, including poets, painters, calligraphers, and even gardeners have used the Tao Te Ching as a source of inspiration. Its influence has also spread widely outside East Asia, aided by hundreds of translations into Western languages.

The Gospel Project: How Far Does God’s Good News Really Reach?

by Roger Hooper

Is The Good News Really Only For A Few Of Us?

It began with a simple question: “What Is The Gospel?” Where it led was entirely unexpected. I discovered so much of what we think the Bible says is really all about our view of God, and how we know and understand Him. If we understand how we understand God, could this help us understand the Bible?

The Gospel became an excellent vehicle for exploring this issue. The word Gospel means “Good News”, yet quite often we can hear a Christian message portraying bad news more than good. It might be good news for some of us, but if we think about who we think is saved, and who is not saved, it does seem the majority of people will miss out. For them the outcome and therefore “news”, is bad.

Many a Christian has suffered angst over the loss of a loved one they knew had never given their life to Jesus. The loved one had resisted all efforts to be convinced they needed to.

How much does salvation depend on our ability to convince others to believe in Jesus?

What if someone died without ever learning about Jesus? Is there still somehow good news for them?

Is then the Gospel really only good news for a small minority of those who have ever lived?

On face value it would seem the road to Hell is not only wide, it is also well travelled, and no one has a return ticket. But is this really a correct understanding of Hell, and the role it plays in the big picture of God relating to his creation – mankind – made in his own image?

There are a number of different views on salvation in mainstream Christianity. Each of them do often raise valid questions. This book seeks to explore these questions. It will unpack a number of salvation ideas and examine if there is evidence in the Bible to find there is more good news for those considered “unsaved” than we ever thought possible.

The examination of these questions requires no dogmatism from the author. The conclusions one draws from unpacking them will lead to different outcomes for any reader. The chief aim of the author then is to encourage critical thought to help every reader better understand themselves and the true nature of both Gods love for them and the truly Good News that is the Gospel!

by G. K. Chesterton

This eBook has been formatted to the highest digital standards and adjusted for readability on all devices. Orthodoxy is a book by G. K. Chesterton that has become a classic of Christian apologetics. In the book’s preface Chesterton states the purpose is to “attempt an explanation, not of whether the Christian faith can be believed, but of how he personally has come to believe it.” In it, Chesterton presents an original view of Christian religion. He sees it as the answer to natural human needs, the “answer to a riddle” in his own words, and not simply as an arbitrary truth received from somewhere outside the boundaries of human experience.

The Divine Comedy (Illustrated Edition)

by Dante Alighieri

This carefully crafted ebook: “Divine Comedy (Complete Edition)” is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents.
The Divine Comedy is a long narrative poem by Dante Alighieri, begun c. 1308 and completed in 1320, a year before his death in 1321. It is widely considered to be the preeminent work in Italian literature and one of the greatest works of world literature. The poem’s imaginative vision of the afterlife is representative of the medieval world-view as it had developed in the Western Church by the 14th century. The narrative describes Dante’s travels through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise or Heaven, while allegorically the poem represents the soul’s journey towards God. Dante draws on medieval Christian theology and philosophy, especially Thomistic philosophy and the Summa Theologica of Thomas Aquinas. Consequently, the Divine Comedy has been called “the Summa in verse”. In Dante’s work, Virgil is presented as human reason and Beatrice is presented as divine knowledge. This edition brings to you the inimitable translation of Divine Comedy by Henry Francis Cary and is accompanied by the beautiful illustrations of Gustave Doré.

Romans: A Commentary

by J. Martin

A Commentary

When Paul wrote the epistle of Romans, his intention was that Romans would read the whole letter in one sitting, and that they would understand what they were reading without further explanation. Sometimes we dig so deep into scripture that we lose the basic meaning of what we’re reading. This is not, then, as much a commentary as it is an attempt to revitalize interest in the book of Romans itself – as it was written, and as it was meant to be understood. Attention is drawn to the words and phrases of the text, highlighting things imperative to be understood and claimed for our own.

MYSTICISM (Complete Edition)

by Evelyn Underhill

This eBook has been formatted to the highest digital standards and adjusted for readability on all devices. The spirit of “Mysticism” is romantic, engaged, and theoretical rather than historical or scientific. Underhill has little use for theoretical explanations and the traditional religious experience, formal classifications or analysis. She dismisses William James’ pioneering study, The Varieties of Religious Experience (1902), and his “four marks of the mystic state” (ineffability, noetic quality, transcience, and passivity).
“All men, at one time or another, have fallen in love with the veiled Isis whom they call Truth. With most, this has been a passing passion: they have early seen its hopelessness and turned to more practical things. But others remain all their lives the devout lovers of reality: though the manner of their love, the vision which they make to themselves of the beloved object varies enormously. Some see Truth as Dante saw Beatrice: an adorable yet intangible figure, found in this world yet revealing the next.”
