Horror House of China: The deadliest serial killer in China A novel based on a true story

by Tang Hollingworth

Yanli had held a dark secret. She knew, as a criminal psychologist, for her own sanity she needed to confront it, and to find out what really had happened in her hometown 32 years ago.

In the years of early 1980’s, a time of hope and promises, confusion and despair, somewhere in the back country of the central-northwest corner of the Middle Kingdom, people went missing. They simply disappeared without trace.

37 missing person cases were reported to the local authority, with more unreported. Two families, fed up with the police inaction, decided to take matter into their own hands. They were determined to find their missing brothers, on a separate mission. Their joint effort eventually prompted a reluctant move by the police.

What they found out shocked the community and the government, of all levels, to its very core.

“A page-turning yarn blending high action, Biblical speculation, ancient secrets, and nasty creatures. Indiana Jones better watch his back!” Jeremy Robinson, author of SecondWorld

“With the thoroughly enjoyable way Mr. Wood has mixed speculative history with our modern day pursuit of truth, he has created a story that thrills and makes one think beyond the boundaries of mere fiction and enter the world of ‘why not’?” David Lynn Golemon, Author of Ancients, Event, Legend, and Leviathan

“A twisty tale of adventure and intrigue that never lets up and never lets go!” Robert Masello, author of Bestiary and Blood and Ice

“I like my thrillers with lots of explosions, global locations and a mystery where I learn something new. Wood delivers! Recommended as a fast paced, kick ass read.” J.F. Penn, author of Desecration

“Dourado is a brisk read, reminiscent of early Cussler adventures, and perfect for an afternoon at the beach or a cross-country flight. You’ll definitely want more of Maddock.” Sean Ellis- Author of Into the Black

Author Interview

Where did you get the idea to set this at a circus school?

Tim’s sister Julia is based on my cousin who performs Spanish Web and Static Trap. The first time I saw her do Spanish Web (That’s the one where a perfomer hangs high up on a rope that’s being spun by someone at the bottom), I was seven feet from the rope. It was aMAZING. She is amazing.

So are we going to get to see more of Julia?

I sure hope so.

How do you not know?

I did tons of research for Valium and how to kill the bad guy ultimately and then I didn’t use any of it. Valium hit a few of the points I plotted out but mostly, the story told me where to go and Julia ended up by the wayside. I want to see her perform in one of the next books but of course, I’ll probably have to set the trapeze on fire, right?

Valium is also available on audiobook, read by the author! Read with your friends! Listen while running with your sister!
