Becoming Version 2.0

by Kai Yaniz

The next day after I stood in the restroom stall quaking in anger, I was asked a question that would change everything. This isn’t the tale of what happened before I left for China. This is the story of what happened because of China. This is the story of how I became version 2.0.

True Tales of A Traveller: Working Holiday

by Alix Lee

True Tales of a Traveller is a series of short stories consisting of several dozen traveller’s tales covering over three decades. Although presented in a short story format (in five volumes) for reading convenience, these stories are not fiction. Apart from some of the characters’ names which have been changed to protect their identities, everything in these stories is true.

These stories do not all fit neatly into the â??travel story’ genre, although some will indeed meet most readers’ expectations in this regard. Others are simply adventures – or misadventures – that happen to have taken place in various different countries. Most of the stories are crafted to provide information on the locations featured in them, and thus also have a useful educational function! They are all priced at between US$0.00 and $0.99 (‘permafree’ is dependent on Amazon’s agreement) for the coming year, with a price of US$1.99 thereafter.

The second of this series of stories (this one) is called Working Holiday, and is set in Athens, Greece, in the early 1980s.

Chandigarh stands as a symbol of planned urbanization and forms a capital of both Punjab as well as Haryana.  It is quite different from the rest of India in terms of its cleanliness as well as the safety factor; you can roam around at any hour and feel safe. (But don’t try this if you’re afraid of street dogs.)

It is about a 5 hour drive or a 4 hour train journey away from the capital city of Delhi, and finds itself located along the foothills, perfect for a quick getaway to the hill stations of Himachal Pradesh, like Shimla and Manali.

The quality of life in Chandigarh is considered to have no match (at least in India).  Along with that, it offers some amazing sceneries, as well as things to do; for both the residents of the city as well as tourists visiting it.

So, pack your bags and discover some part of Chandigarh that you’ve never experienced before, on your next trip to the city.  Till then, here goes a list of â??50 things to do’ in Chandigarh.

The Ennin Mysteries: Collected Stories 16-20

by Ben Stevens

THE RIVER-DANCER

A Shinto river-dancer lies dead, stabbed through the heart. Her lover – a wealthy merchant – is quickly charged with her murder, a bloodstained knife having been found concealed on his property…

Yet Ennin is determined to prove this man’s innocence – in the face of almost overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

But just who, then, is the killer…?

THE TOUCH OF DEATH

A mysterious martial arts dojo – the ‘Hall in the Sea of Waving Pines’ – has become notorious for the sudden, inexplicable deaths of those young students it has previously expelled.

Ennin travels to the Hall in the Sea of Waving Pines to investigate – and there discovers a Chinese martial arts technique that is as ancient as it is deadly…

WABI-SABI

Ennin retells a classic Zen story from medieval Japan.

THE MAD DOG SICKNESS

A powerful daimyo is sick with a mysterious illness, which leaves him deeply afraid of water.

Ennin is asked to try and discover just what this strange sickness is – and whether there is any connection with the daimyo’s recent, secretive trip to China…

THE RAIN PLAYER

One of Japan’s most famous swordsmen has been found dead – but no one can say how he died…

A genius musician has built an instrument that can be played by the rain…

There is no relation between these two facts, surely…

Backpacker Confessions: Girls vs Europe: A Tale of 43 Countries

by J Sizeland

Jennifer loves figuring out the puzzle that is Europe. From the ages of 18 to 30 she travelled around 43 countries and fell deeply in love with all the corners of Europe.

In a time when Britain has chosen to leave the EU, Jennifer reflects on her feelings about Europe and all the things it has taught her. The most important one being not to have sex in the sea.

Whilst travelling she avoided being spat at by a geyser, explored the Chernobyl exclusion zone, survived an earthquake, enjoyed â??late night’ opera, visited a church of bones, watched dolphins, climbed a volcano and patrolled the penis museum.

She also stroked a lot of stray cats, had a panic attack in Toulouse, went to a rave in Brussels, slept through Europe’s most beautiful train journey and wrote some very bad poetry which she’s kindly included.

As well as these adventures, she fell in love with her boyfriend. These are her European backpacking confessions.

Der einsame Radler: Auf dem Weg von Bremen zum Bodensee (German Edition)

by Günter W. Hohenester
