True Tales of a Traveller: The Long Way Home

by Alix Lee

True Tales of a Traveller is a series of short stories consisting of several dozen traveller’s tales covering over three decades. Although presented in a short story format for reading convenience, these stories are not fiction. Apart from some of the characters’ names which have been changed to protect their identities, everything in these stories is true.

These stories do not all fit neatly into the â??travel story’ genre, although some will indeed meet most readers’ expectations in this regard. Others are simply adventures – or misadventures – that happen to have taken place in various different countries. They will appeal to anyone with an interest in travel, contemporary history, geography, culture, or international relations, or anyone who just likes good short reads. Most of the stories are crafted to provide information on the locations featured in them, and thus also have a useful educational function!

The first of this series of stories is called Goodbye Sinai, which is set in 1982, at the time of Israel’s return of the Sinai peninsula to Egypt. The second of this series of stories is called Working Holiday, and is set in Athens, Greece, in the early 1980s.

The third in the series, this story, is called The Long Way Home. At over 17,000 words, this story borders on novella length. Unlike the first two stories of the series, The Long Way Home is set not in one country, but in half-a-dozen. Llke the other stories in the series, it provides not only an entertaining read, but also information on all the places visited, some relevant only to the era in which the story is set, and some still relevant today. In addition to being a travel story, The Long Way Home is also a love story, and a story about the unexpected twists and turns that can occur in personal relationships.

It has become a tradition in our family to cook like Mama Li. In this book, you will find a collection of her best Asian vegetarian recipes from her restaurant.

Mama Li showed me everything I know about cooking Asian foods. One of the warmest memories I have from Mama Li was the patience she showed toward me when she hired me to assist in her restaurant’s kitchen. She would carefully explain and show me how to choose the right ingredients at the market, handle the knife and chop quickly the fresh produces, prepare the secret sauce with just the right amount of spices and ingredients, stir-fry with the most amazing pan in my kitchen, the wok, how to use a bamboo steamer and so much more. I learned so much for those two wonderful years working for Mama Li. Since, then I have continued cooking like Mama Li showed me while adapting the recipes to my own family’s preferences.

In this book, you will find everything you need to know about making at home delicious Asian vegetarian and vegan dishes including:

-Appetizing soups like the Sesame Bamboo Soup.
-Mouth-watering appetizers like the Spring Onion Pancakes or the Crispy Skin Tofu.

Valentina – Nichts wie weg! (German Edition)

by Mimi J. Poppersen

Schadenfreude pur.
Dabei stimmte das ja auch noch fast. Was war schon dabei?
â??Also, was ist jetzt? Zahlen Sie das Ã?bergewicht nun endlich?”

Ladakh in Pictures

by Praveen Venkiteswara Annu

This is a photo book that captures the essence of Ladakh, a high altitude cold desert in the Himalayas. These photographs were captured during a road trip from Manali to Leh, one of the most challenging drives in the world. The photographs are accompanied by a short description of the place where they were clicked and have been arranged in the order they were clicked so as to give the reader a realistic idea of how the landscape changes during the journey from Manali to Leh.

Momo’s Journey In Japan Vol.1

by Momo

Momo is a female Shiba dog.

After the two-year journey to tour the World Heritage Sites on the globe (refer to the “Momo Meets the World Heritage Sites” series), she came back to Japan, her home country. Then, this time she had decided to visit the World Heritage Sites in Japan more thoroughly.

She started her new journey at the Ministry of the Environment and the Agency for Cultural Affairs, both of which were the governmental organizations choosing articles to be recommended for World Heritage Site. Memorably, the National Museum of Western Art had become a newly listed one just around the time when she visited it in 2016. At Ogasawara Islands, she could experience various interesting activities. In Nara, she even joined a fire drill. At Himeji Castle, she accidentally showed her strange expression. At Shirakami Sanchi and at Yakushima, she met good friends.

The actual maps and the related links are also included for your reference.

Momo’s new adventure has just started.

XXL-Leseprobe: Wir sehen uns beim Happy End: Roman (German Edition)

by Charlotte Lucas
